Megjegyzések:The wing feather moult in the Nightingale (Luscinia megarhynchos) was studied during June 2008 near Bátorliget in East-Hungary. 21 birds were examined. All the birds were caught in mist nets by using tape recorder and ringed with individually numbered aluminium rings. Fifteen of the 21 birds have already replacedtheir feathers on the 6th of June. Four birds followed a different moulting pattern from the others. These birdsalmost finished the replacing of the primaries, but the moulting did not spread to the secondaries. These specimens had very short first primary (similar or shorter than the greatest wing cover) and longer maximal wing length, than Luscinia megarhynchos megarhynchos. According to these experiences this local population maybe follow an alternative moult strategy (e.g. a kind of suspended moult of the secondaries).

Megjegyzések:The autumn migration of the Thrush Nightingale (Luscinia luscinia) have been studied at Szalonna in East Hungary, in a site of the Directorate of Aggtelek National Park between 1986-2006. The aim of the study was to analyse the migration dynamics of Thrush Nightingale with the help of biometrical characteristics. The valley area is an opened and wide bushland site between two hills with closed coniferous forests. All the birds were caught in mist nets and ringed with individually numbered rings. The maximal wing lenght, body mass, fat categories were measured and their age as well. 147 Thrush Nightingale were ringed and 27 individual birds were recaptured on 43 occassions (41%). The first individual was ringed on 6 August and the last one on 26 September. Two migration wave periods werer separated: between 6-24 August and 25 August-26 September. The maximum stopover time was 35 days. Of all birds 2% were recaptured after one year or later. The first specimens arrived with shorter wing and lower body mass. Mean wing lenght was 82-96 mm, the body mass was 18,0-44,0 g. According to the low rate of recapture history, the low raising of body mass and the short period of the stopover time, we proved that the Bódva-valley was important for Thrush Nightingale but perhaps notbe use as a premigratory refuelling area or a stopover site.

Megjegyzések:The morphometrical characteristics of the Nightingales species have been studied at the Bódva valley in North-Hungary. The birds were caught in mist nets with tape recorder and ringed with individually numbered aluminium rings. 28 birds were examined. The bird's wing lenght, tail lenght, relative lenght of the first primary [P1], thirdth feather lenght, total wing form and body mass were measured. The maximal wing lenght and tail lenght of 18 individuals was longer than ssp. megarhynchos. The [P1] was -7 to +5 mm, wing lenght 83-92 mm. According to our experiences these specimens perhaps compose a separated morphological group from the megarhynchos in this study area.
