Megjegyzések:We consider gauged U(1) extensions of the standard model of particle physics with three right-handed sterile neutrinos and a singlet scalar. The neutrinos obtain mass via the type I seesaw mechanism. We compute the one-loop corrections to the elements of the tree-level mass matrix of the light neutrinos and show explicitly the cancellation of the gauge-dependent terms. We present a general formula for the gauge-independent, finite one-loop corrections for arbitrary number new U(1) groups, new complex scalars, and sterile neutrinos. We estimate the size of the corrections relative to the tree-level mass matrix in a particular extension, the superweak model.

Cím:Bosonization and functional renormalization group approach in the framework of QED_2 / I. Nándori
Dátum:2011
ISSN:1550-7998
Megjegyzések:Known results on two-dimensional quantum electrodynamics (QED_2) have been used to study the dependence of functional renormalization group equations on renormalization schemes and approximations applied for its bosonized version. It is demonstrated that the singularity of flow equations can be avoided in the optimized and power-law schemes for the bosonized model and the drawback of renormalization on bosonization is shown: it is indicated that renormalization of QED_2 possibly requires interaction terms corresponding to higher frequency modes of its bosonized version.

Cím:Vacuum stability and scalar masses in the superweak extension of the standard model / Zoltán Péli, Zoltán Trócsányi
Dátum:2022
ISSN:2470-0010 2470-0029
Megjegyzések:We study the allowed parameter space of the scalar sector in the superweak extension of the standard model (SM). The allowed region is defined by the following conditions: (i) stability of the vacuum, (ii) perturbativity up to the Planck scale, and (iii) the pole mass of the Higgs boson falling into its experimentally measured range. We employ renormalization group equations and quantum corrections at two-loop accuracy. We study the dependence on the Yukawa couplings of the sterile neutrinos at selected values. We also check the exclusion limit set by the precise measurement of the mass of the W boson. Our method for constraining the parameter space using two-loop predictions can also be applied to simpler models such as the singlet scalar extension of the SM in a straightforward way.

Cím:Measurement of differential cross sections for the production of a Z boson in association with jets in proton-proton collisions at ?s=13 TeV / CMS Collaboration
Dátum:2023
ISSN:2470-0010 2470-0029
Megjegyzések:A measurement is presented of the production of Formula Presented bosons that decay into two electrons or muons in association with jets, in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The data were recorded by the CMS Collaboration at the LHC with an integrated luminosity of Formula Presented. The differential cross sections are measured as a function of the transverse momentum (Formula Presented) of the Formula Presented boson and the transverse momentum and rapidities of the five jets with largest Formula Presented. The jet multiplicity distribution is measured for up to eight jets. The hadronic activity in the events is estimated using the scalar sum of the Formula Presented of all the jets. All measurements are unfolded to the stable-particle level and compared with predictions from various Monte Carlo event generators, as well as with expectations at leading and next-to-leading orders in perturbative quantum chromodynamics.

Cím:Reconstruction of decays to merged photons using end-to-end deep learning with domain continuation in the CMS detector / CMS Collaboration
Dátum:2023
ISSN:2470-0010 2470-0029
Megjegyzések:A novel technique based on machine learning is introduced to reconstruct the decays of highly Lorentz-boosted particles. Using an end-to-end deep learning strategy, the technique bypasses existing rule-based particle reconstruction methods typically used in high energy physics analyses. It uses minimally processed detector data as input and directly outputs particle properties of interest. The new technique is demonstrated for the reconstruction of the invariant mass of particles decaying in the CMS detector. The decay of a hypothetical scalar particle Formula Presented into two photons, Formula Presented, is chosen as a benchmark decay. Lorentz boosts Formula Presented are considered, ranging from regimes where both photons are resolved to those where the photons are closely merged as one object. A training method using domain continuation is introduced, enabling the invariant mass reconstruction of unresolved photon pairs in a novel way. The new technique is validated using Formula Presented decays in LHC collision data.
