Megjegyzések:We generalize the complete lift of real functions introduced by Yano-Ishihara [17], and the complete lift of maps between Euclidean spaces defined by Ou [12], to obtain harmonic maps and morphisms on semiRiemannian manifolds. A new characterization of harmonic morphisms between (semi-)Riemannian manifolds is obtained. For some quadratic forms which generalize the quadratic maps, we give necessary and sufficient conditions under which they are harmonic maps or morphisms.

Megjegyzések:In this paper, we study single-variable linear functional equations that involve one unknown function and a finite set of known functions forming a group under composition. The main results present the complete description of the solution set, and provide an alternative and effective approach for some known facts. In the proofs, the standard methods of Linear Algebra, of Group Theory, and the Axiom of Choice play a key role.

Megjegyzések:This paper is a continuation of the work of Bresar and Semrl in Part I [Proc. Roy. Soc. Edinburgh Sect. A {\bf 129} (1999), no.~6, 1115--1135; MR1728537 (2001f:47061) ], in which they introduced an abstract axiomatic concept of elementary operators on algebras; see the review of Part I for the definition. Here, descriptions of elementary operators on algebras of continuous functions or of holomorphic functions are obtained. Furthermore, a more general notion of Jordan elementary operators is introduced and some basic properties of these operators are studied. In the case of standard operator algebras, a concrete description of Jordan elementary operators is obtained using the corresponding results in the first paper.

Megjegyzések:We describe an efficient algorithm to calculate generators of power integral bases in composites of totally real fields and imaginary quadratic fields with coprime discriminants. We show that the calculation can be reduced to solving index form equations in the original totally real fields. We illustrate our method by investigating monogenity in the infinite parametric family of imaginary quadratic extensions of the simplest quartic fields.
