Megjegyzések:	In the past few years the authors participated in a EU project coordinated by the University of Debrecen (TÁMOP-4.2.2-08/1-2008-0017, titled 'Integrative modelling of sustainability of geothermal systems', KOZÁK et al. 2011) aiming at the basic research of exploiting possibilities of geothermal energy. Their experiences based on the results of the project highlight the real value of this type of energy and its role in an energy supply system targeting the growing introduction of environment-friendly alternatives into national and European supply systems. The Hungarian energy supply system is facing great challenges: besides guaranteeing an increasing portion of renewable resources it should focus on national energy sources, decrease the costs of energy transportation and create a de-concentrated and decentralized energy network. Based on national relations, a key issues of this question is the application of geothermal energy. As geothermal energy is sometimes overestimated or underestimated, we feel it necessary to give a short presentation on the exploitation possibilities of this type of energy and running Hungarian projects.

Megjegyzések:	Based on the microtectonic analysis of the geological profile of seven outcrops, the structural characteristics of the study area around Gerenna-vár in the Bükk Mountains, NE Hungary are described. Brittle and ductile deformation elements indicate the activity of stress fields with NE, NW and N orientation (PI, PII, PIII). The study area is located in the NW front of the Bükk Mts. where the vergence of the structural elements suggest the dominance of forces that acted from SE creating deformation with NW vergence. This supports the idea that the dominant structural elements on one edge a rock mass are generally formed by forces acting from exactly the opposite direction. Strongly disharmonic folds can be found even in areas characterised comprehensively by brittle deformation structures while non-typical structures could be the result of the interaction of multi-directional stress fields.
