Megjegyzések:In the past three decades there has been an increasing role of Private Equity (PE) industry in the financing of enterprises especially in case of firms that have great growth potential but are in need of external financing. Via providing financing for these enterprises PE can boost economic growth. On the other hand the different subsets of PE like Venture Capital (VC) and Buyout (BO) funds appear as an important investment class and the return characteristics of these asset classes is an indicator of the performance of the whole PE industry. The authors in their earlier works focused on the history of the return characteristics of the funds in the US and in Europe found different trends and features in the two regions with regards to the different asset classes. In this paper the authors focus on the current progress of PE industry in Europe and in the US and examine the recovery of the industry from the recession of 2008. The current trends are consistent with our former findings. In average the returns of BO funds exceeded the returns of VC funds in the US as well as in Europe. Not just according to the absolute value of the returns, but also according to its risk-return tradeoff BO seemed to be a preferable investment. The gap between the performances of BO funds was not as significant as the difference of VC funds. While the recession of 2008 affected negatively the returns of PE, the ♭dotcom' boom of the millennia had much higher impact on the industry, and our finding is that PE returns are on a recovery course.

Megjegyzések:The evaluation of performance is aiming to continuously monitor efficiency and economy of the company's operation and to provide information for corporate decisions. Benchmarking is one means of comparing corporate performance. Nowadays financial indicators are commonly used means in corporate performance analysis, but they can hardly be used as a complex tool of measurement. Adequate performance evaluation and comparability requires a method, a measuring tool, which can measure corporate performance in a complex way. A method is needed, which allows the use of both quantitative and qualitative characteristics; Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is a method like that. DEA may complete traditional indicator analysis, especially if the goal is to get more information regarding operational and technical efficiency. Based on the analysis of the chosen corporate data, DEA is presented to be suitable for the comparison and analysis of profit-making companies' performance. Variables included in the evaluation are selected by step-wise regression. Benchmarking module of R Statistics is used during the calculations.

Megjegyzések:These days the various forms of health tourism are gaining an enhanced role in world tourism and this is also true of the economic performance of some countries. In the last decade, health tourism featuring an on-going development saw a dynamic development primarily in the area of wellness tourism at both national and international levels. The countries with the most significant wellness supplies and tourist movement are located in the first place in Europe (mostly in German-speaking and Mediterranean countries), North America and Southeast Asia (Kiss K. - Török I. 2001, Rátz T. 2004). The general trends such as the enhancement of individualization, demographic transformations, changes in women's social roles, spiritualization, the appreciation of healthy lifestyles have created the social background of the demand for wellness services and products (Friedl H. 2007, Zsigmond E. 2007).As for experts in various areas of science, the wellness market, due to social transformations and the favourable economic performance of the sector, is likely to become one of the fastest developing touristic and economic sectors (Ardell D. 1985, Nefiodov L. 1996, Horx, M. 2001, Scholz, J. 2003, Pilzer, P. 2007). The fact, however, that the various countries are unable to fully exploit the potentials hidden in natural endowments is not exclusively a problem in Hungary; moreover, it leads to the uniformity of supply and endangers the sustainability of natural assets. In the coming decades well-to-do, ageing but at the same time active age groups aspiring for a higher quality of life, particularly in North America, Scandinavia and Western Europe may represent a huge potential for wellness tourism. Regarding wellness data there are no uniform measurement systems, i.e. terminological differences in various countries hinder the comparison of data on recreation and wellness. Both the sector and the customers need more information, data and resources to make wellness services competitive and trustworthy. For this reason, this study seeks to introduce the international and national trends in tourism, including recreational tourism and also to draw up a general picture of the international wellness market.

Cím:Risk and Growth Analysis of Small and Medium Size Enterprises Between 2010 and 2012 / Tarnóczi Tibor, Kulcsár Edina, Droj Laurentiu

Megjegyzések:The paper is dealing with the analysis of the enterprise risk and growth of a selected number of anonymous small and medium size enterprises. The investigation is based on the enterprises' simplified annual financial reports. In the economic environment of our days, the principle of "no risk means no profit" is widely accepted and supported. It can also be added, if there is no profit, there is no successful growth. By using leverage ratios, below we intend to analyze two basic types of enterprise risk: financial risk and operational risk. Several publications dealing with enterprise growth are available, yet none have yet been able to offer a common approach to this problem. In our publication enterprise growth is considered as the effective growth of certain economic indicators. We investigate internal and sustainable growth rates in the period of 2010-2013 in a sample of enterprises registered in County Bihor and operating in different sectors of economy. In the second part of the study, the investigated firms are grouped by calculated indicators based on their 2012 year's results by the method of cluster analysis. The calculations were carried out by the R statistics program which is used in a variety of research fields and has the advantage of being an open source software system. The program can offer the modules that are required for our analysis. For our cluster analysis we applied module 'hclust'. The results of the analysis show that there are no significant changes in the internal and sustainable growth rates of the companies over the investigated period. The minor difference identified between the internal (IGR) and sustainable growth (SGR) rates can be considered as normal, since the investigated firms were using foreign sources as well in order to finance their activities. In terms of risk indicators, it was found that of the degree of operating leverage (DOL) and the degree of financial leverage (DFL) it is the degree of operating leverage that appears to be the major source of problems for the investigated firms. Thus, risk managers should be giving priority attention to minimizing it. Our analyses show that the majority (64%) of the enterprises have an acceptable level of risk.
