Megjegyzések:Learning computer programming for students of the age of 14-18 is difficult and requires endurance and engagement. Being familiar with the syntax of a computer language and writing programs in it are challenges for youngsters, not to mention that understanding algorithms is also a big challenge. To help students in the learning process, teachers need to increase their engagement and motivation by giving them interesting and entertaining tasks. Implementing different image processing algoritms can be very efficient for enhancing their programming skills, since by running their programs on real pictures taken by cameras, they can examine the effects of these programs. This article carefully selects and introduces image processing algorithms that are based on basic computer algorithms and are understandable for secondary school students. It also shows how to apply them in programming classes and how to provide the discovery learning for students.

Megjegyzések:In this article, we will present the first results of a class experiment regardingtext-based problems. The 6th-grade students from the experiment met the teaching of textbasedproblems for the first time. The main aim of the experiment was the diagnosis andpossible remedy of the problems with working memory. As to the problems encounteredduring the teaching experiment, we will analyze the comparative results of the pre-testand the post-test, then will draw some conclusions for the teaching practice.

Megjegyzések:Education is an active process in which instructors apply various devices to make the material to be taught more suitable for students' perception. As the capabilities of available devices improve, so should the methods of teaching make the best use of them. No tool can ever replace an instructor, but tools can enhance the efficiency of education. Involving computers in the process of teaching is feasible only when it can actually provide new educational methods that were unavailable before, due to time or material limitations. In my article I'd like to introduce two such new methods that, when used together with traditional methods, can support visual education by increasing the number of possible approaches to a topic being taught. One of these methods is about teaching color theory, while the other is about shadows.

Megjegyzések:The defectiveness of the effectiveness of the Hungarian general education revealed in the PISA survey appears in the higher education as well. The "Introduction to Informatics" subject has one of the lowest exam results among the students of the College of Nyíregyháza majoring in Computer Program Designer and Teacher of Computer Science. This subject is the mediator one for the elements of informatics for the students. By analysing the results of supplementary surveys I tried to find answers for the following questions: What are the relations between the exam results of the students and the secondary final examinations that should measure their previous knowledge? Can the weak results be explained by the thinking ability or rather the defectiveness of the special mathematics skills? What are the students' attributions towards the exam results? The results of the investigations and surveys, which have been done, show that most of the students come to higher education with a weak fundamental knowledge. In order to improve the results of the exams the individual improvement of those students who perform badly in the given fields is required.
