Dátum:2016
ISSN:1785-8860
Megjegyzések:Due to the extensive use of images in various fields, using effective approaches to retrieve the most related images given a query image is of great importance. Content-based image retrieval is the approach commonly used to address this issue. The content-based image retrieval systems use many techniques to provide more accurate and comprehensive answers, among which is the relevance feedback. The relevance feedback is used by the system to help it retrieve more relevant images in response to a query. In this paper we have proposed a novel relevance feedback method that is able to improve the precision of the content-based retrieval systems. The proposed method is based on multi-query relevance feedback, and similarity function refinement.

Megjegyzések:Based on research results and experience, students who finish K-12 education lack the necessary computational thinking skills that they would need to continue their studies effectively in the field of computer sciences. Our goal was to examine the currently used methods and programming languages in K-12 education and to find and present an alternative approach. Using visual programming environments in education to develop students` computational thinking and algorithmic skills is a widespread practice in K-12 education. These environments mostly provide simplified versions of ?real" programming languages. In this paper, we present event-action-based visual programming, as an alternative to today`s most frequently used methods, which do not restrict the students` development ability to simplified and basic applications while retaining the advantages of visual languages. We organized four workshops in which we presented this programming approach to four distinct groups involved in education. The participants were guided to develop a multiplatform mobile application using Construct 2 event-action-based visual programming. At the end of the sessions we collected data in the form of group interviews and questionnaires on the possibilities of including event-action based visual programming in computer science education. Based on the results, the participants found the method suitable for beginner programmers to help them lay the foundations for more complex, text-based programming languages and to develop a positive attitude towards programming.

ISSN:1785-8860
Megjegyzések:The Ontology for Linked Open University Data (OLOUD) is a practical approach to model course information at a typical Hungarian university. OLOUD aims to integrate data from several sources and provide personal timetables, navigation and other types of help for students and lecturers. The modeled domains include curricula, subjects, courses, semesters and personnel, but also buildings and events. Although there are several ontologies for the mentioned domains, selecting a set of ontologies fitting our use case was not an easy task. We summarize problems we met such as missing links, inconsistencies as well as many overlaps between ontologies. Finally, OLOUD acts as a glue for a selection of existing ontologies, and thus enables us to formulate SPARQL queries for a wide range of practical questions of university students.

Megjegyzések:Telemedicine instruments and e-Health mobile wearable devices are designed to enhance patients' quality of life. The adequate man-and-machine cognitive ecosystem is the missing link for that in healthcare. This research program is dedicated to deliver the suitable solution. This research's goal is the establishment of adaptive informatics framework for telemedicine. This is achieved through the deployed open telemedicine interoperability hub-system. The presented inter-cognitive sensor-sharing system solution augments the healthcare ecosystem through extended interconnection among the telemedicine, IoT e-Health and hospital information system domains. The general purpose of this experiment is building an augmented, adaptive, cognitive and also universal healthcare information technology ecosphere. This study structures the actual questions and answers regarding the missing links and gaps between the emerging Sensor Hub technology and the traditional hospital information systems. The Internet-of-Things space penetrated the personal and industrial environments. The e-Health smart devices are neither widely accepted nor deployed in the ordinary healthcare service. This paper reviews the major technological burdens and proposes necessary actions for enhancing the healthcare service level with Sensor Hub and Internet-of-Things technologies. Hereby we report the studies on varying simplex, duplex, full-duplex, data package- and file-based information technology modalities establishing stable system interconnection among clinical instruments, healthcare systems and eHealth smart devices in trilateral cooperation comprising the University of Debrecen Department of Information Technology, Semmelweis University Second Paediatric Clinic and T-Systems Healthcare Competence Center Central and Eastern Europe.

Megjegyzések:Utilizing dynamic resource allocation for load balancing is considered as an important optimization process in cloud computing. In order to achieve maximum resource efficiency and scalability in a speedy manner this process is concerned with multiple objectives for an effective distribution of loads among virtual machines. In this realm, exploring new algorithms, as well as development of novel algorithms, is highly desired for technological advancement and continued progress in resource allocation application in cloud computing. Accordingly, this paper explores the application of two relatively new optimization algorithms and further proposes a hybrid algorithm for load balancing which can contribute well in maximizing the throughput of the cloud provider's network. The proposed algorithm is a hybrid of teaching - learning - based optimization algorithm (TLBO) and grey wolves optimization algorithm (GW). The hybrid algorithm performs more efficiently than utilizing every single one of these algorithms. Furthermore, it well balances the priorities and effectively considers load balancing based on time, cost, and avoidance of local optimum traps, which consequently leads to minimal amount of waiting time. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, a comparison with the TLBO and GW algorithms is conducted and the experim ental results are presented.

Cím:Monitoring Pandemics, using Sensor Data from Smart Ecosystems / István Péntek, Attila Adamkó
Dátum:2023
ISSN:1785-8860
Megjegyzések:In recent decades, new solutions, shaping smart city architecture. Data generated by healthcare and smart devices infiltrate into smart city solutions. This topic is heavily challenging and rapidly evolving. The constant and fast change in the subject technologies that implement an architecture and the sensitivity of data from human sources can be seen as key factors in these challenges. In this research, we have tried to present some possibilities that are obtainable by smart city solutions, in such a way, that they can be used effectively, by healthcare during a pandemic. Research focuses on how data from wearable devices can be collected and used, how these can be integrated into the ecosystem of smart cities, and how data can be used in health care. Access to health-related and personal data is regulated by the General Data Protection Regulation, which made the architecture use a high level of abstraction business definition and extensibility. The envisioned features of the above-mentioned architecture rely solely on the disciplinary areas of service-oriented architecture and component-oriented development methodologies. The described smart ecosystem offers the possibility of cognitive supplementation of human capabilities based on general bio-sensor data. It illustrates an example of use, for a healthcare workflow, where service abstraction plays a key role. ? 2023, Budapest Tech Polytechnical Institution. All rights reserved.

Dátum:2022
ISSN:1785-8860
Megjegyzések:In spite of the fact that teaching programming is obligatory in Hungarian public ICT education, the low number of lessons accompanied by the lack of students' knowledge and interest marginalize the topic. Research and experience show that even when working with experienced teachers, students have a hard time mastering imperative and object-oriented programming languages. These languages usually approach problem-solving from a mathematical perspective, with a minimal design IDE (Integrated Development Environment) and output screen. As an alternative solution, schools and courses apply various visual programming environments that make it possible to create colorful motivating games and animations even in one lesson. In our research we compared two visual programming environments: Scratch (control group), developed for education, and Construct 3 (experimental group), developed for game and software development. We conducted a measurement of the efficacy of the two environments for teaching programming in two grade-8 groups. The students learned the topic by solving traditional algorithmic tasks, but taking advantage of the visual interfaces. The results, in accordance with previous findings, show that in developing the students' algorithmic skills there is no difference between these visual programming languages. Furthermore, we found proof that the selected teaching methods play a crucial role in the development of said skills of the students.

Dátum:2022
ISSN:1785-8860
Megjegyzések:Discussion, evaluation, and error recognition in natural language digital texts is one of the most neglected areas of the digital world, despite the fact that text management is the most popular computer related activity. Millions of erroneous text-based documents of different types are in circulation, without us being aware of how fragile, damaged and harmful they are. It is well accepted in programming and even in other end-user activities that error recognition plays a crucial role in teaching, learning and real-world problem-solving pro-cesses. In the present paper, we introduce the high-mathability Error Recognition Model, which consists of the processes used in discussion and concept-based problem-solving, and we also provide examples of the utilization of the model. We argue that error recognition and correction, and the assessment of problems in text management are as important as in other fields of informatics and computer sciences. In our study experiment groups ? studying with the Error Recognition Model ? and control groups ? studying with low-mathability tool-centered approaches ? were compared. It is found that the Error Recognition Model is more effective in digital text management than tool-centered methodologies in two error types: the typographic and layout-breaking error categories, while a strong compensation effect was found in the syntax error category.

Dátum:2020
ISSN:1785-8860
Megjegyzések:In the last decade student teams at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen have designed and constructed several race cars with alternative (electric or pneumatic) drives and took part and achieved successes in domestic and international competitions. For more successful racing a simulation program has been developed in Matlab for the calculation of the vehicle dynamic functions of the cars from their technical data. Currently, it has become a prerequisite of successful racing because of the large number of the possible values of technical data we can select the optimal ones by applying the above program combined with an optimizing procedure. The detailed description of the developed dynamic model and simulation program, together with the vehicle dynamics functions generated by the program are presented here. The description of the optimizing procedure will be presented elsewhere. © 2020, Budapest Tech Polytechnical Institution. All rights reserved.

Dátum:2024
ISSN:1785-8860
Megjegyzések:Our research group, at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen, has extensively studied the dynamic modelling and simulation of electric motor`s over the past ten years. Many simulation programs have been developed for various motor types. The technical parameters and characteristics of the motors are used as input data for the above-mentioned programs. Among these data, important dynamic characteristics are the moment of inertia and friction torque of the rotor. The friction torque includes windage, ventilation, bearing and brush friction losses. In many cases, however, the manufacturer does not provide these data in the datasheet, so they must be determined experimentally. Several methods exist in the scientific literature for the above purpose. Our research group has also developed and applied such methods in recent years. This publication reviews these methods by presenting the applied experimental setups and procedures. In addition, considering the available literature data and our previous experience, we give the accuracies that can be achieved by the methods and any difficulties that may arise during the experiments and the related computational procedures.
