Megjegyzések:In this paper first we describe all (not necessarily linear or bijective) transformations on Rd with 2 <= d < [infinity] which preserve the area of parallelograms spanned by any two vectors. We also characterize those (not necessarily linear) bijections on an arbitrary real Hilbert space that preserve the latter quantity. This answers a question raised by Rassias and Wagner, and it can be considered as a variant of the famous Wigner theorem on real Hilbert spaces which plays an important role in quantum mechanics. As a consequence, we solve a preserver problem of Molnár and Timmermann which has remained open stubbornly only in the two-dimensional case. Finally this two-dimensional result will be applied in order to strengthen their theorem in higher dimensions.

Megjegyzések:In this paper we investigate a new class of bounded operators called weighted shifts on directed trees introduced recently in [11]. This class is a natural generalization of the so called weighted bilateral, unilateral and backward shift operators. In the first part of the paper we calculate the asymptotic limit and the isometric asymptote of a contractive weighted shift on a directed tree and that of the adjoint. Then we use the asymptotic behaviour and similarity properties in order to obtain cyclicity results. We also show that a weighted backward shift operator is cyclic if and only if there is at most one zero weight.

Megjegyzések:We show that the existence of a surjective isometry (which is merely a distance preserving map) between the unitary groups of unital C*-algebras implies the existence of a Jordan *-isomorphism between the algebras. In the case of von Neumann algebras we describe the structure of those isometries showing that any of them is extendible to a real linear Jordan *-isomorphism between the underlying algebras multiplied by a fixed unitary element. We present a result of similar spirit for the surjective Thompson isometries between the spaces of all invertible positive elements in unital C*-algebras.

Megjegyzések:We describe the structure of those bijective maps on the cone of all positive invertible elements of a C*-algebra with a normalized faithful trace which preserve certain kinds of quasi-entropy. It is shown that essentially any such map is equal to a Jordan *-isomorphism of the underlying algebra multiplied by a central positive invertible element.

Megjegyzések:We describe the structure of all continuous Jordan triple endomorphisms of the set of P2 all positive definite 2x2 matrices thus completing a recent result of ours. We also mention an application concerning sorts of surjective generalized isometries on P2 and, as second application, we complete another former result of ours on the structure of sequential endomorphisms of finite dimensional effect algebras.
