Cím:Investigation of Persistence Value as a Study Protection Factor among Health Care Organizer Students / Dinyáné Szabó Mariann, Pusztai Gabriella
Dátum:2017
ISSN:1788-4934 1788-7119
Megjegyzések:To be successful, serious commitment, willingness of being involved in education and learning (on the part of the students), and (on the part of the education institution) demand for high standard are required. One of the most important determinants of student achievement is persistence, the research of which has now been in the focus of international investigation. Objective: The authors investigated variables affecting students' persistence value (e.g. attendance at lessons, parents' religiousness, use of the Internet, sports, etc.) among students starting their health care studies. Method: The students participating in the survey were - as mentioned - the first year (BSc) students specialising in health care organisation at the Public Health Care Departments of Semmelweis University, the University of Debrecen (and Nyíregyháza) (N = 200 persons). Results: 1. By using GLZ regression (Likelihood Ratio Chi-Square = 115.688, df = 13, p = 0.000), the explanatory variables - that most influence the value of the persistence variance - were filtered. (i) E.g. Attendance at the lessons, Extra rewards, Sports, Parents' Religiousness, Community Membership are of positive effect. (ii) The use of Internet has a negative impact in the model. 2. Cluster analysis was used to produce student groups from the predictor variables. Conclusion: Examining students' persistence values can help university faculties, the teachers to see, who will succeed in their studies, and who need increased help to evolve and develop their mental potentials.

Cím:Should I Move? The Benefits and Costs of Spatial Mobility for Different Groups of the Roma Population / Ember, Zsolt; Huszti, Éva; Lénárt, Imre
Dátum:2023
ISSN:1788-4934 1788-7119
Megjegyzések:Introduction: Moving away can be motivated by a multitude of factors, just as the reasons for not moving away might be different. The individual's social situation greatly determines the chance of turning their life situation around through moving away. Aims: We investigated the factors that affected the representatives of the three Roma groups researched here (Romungro, Vlach, Boyash) in their moving in the past and in their intentions to move in the future. Methods: A SEM model was developed (N = 570) to analyze the differences between previous movers and non-movers in well-being, socioeconomic status, and social network. We also investigated the effect of the above variables on the intention to move. Data were collected via the "snowball method". Results: Out of the Vlachs, those who had moved in the past have significantly fewer confidant relatives (p = .021) and also know significantly fewer people pursuing high-prestige vocations (p = .003), moreover, the fewer people pursuing moderate-prestige vocations they know, the more they would like to move away from their present residence (p = .031). Regarding the Boyash, the more favorable their socio-economic situation, the more they would like to move away (p = .007); while regarding the Romungro, the low level of their mental wellbeing (p = .019) and the relatively high number of their confidant relatives constitutes (p = .017) the incentive to change their residence. Conclusions: The spatially mobile Roma who had moved before possess fewer confidant relatives and weak ties. The individual factors connect to the different Roma groups' moving intentions to various extents.

Megjegyzések:With the increase of life expectancy, the issue of quality of life (QoL) for the elderly is getting more focus. Beside the individual view, social and economic aspects are becoming more pronounced. Aims: In this study, we set out to establish a new classification of long-term care (LTC) regimes by examining the relationship between care systems and subjective quality of life. Methods: Our work was based on data from the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe through a secondary analysis of CASP-12 results. It was assumed that higher quality of life values could be observed in countries providing a higher standard of social care. We studied the back- ground variables in different LTC regimes. Results: The data shows that the development and availability of care sys- tems have a significant indirect correlation with older people's subjective well-being. Our results raise the possibility of a new subdivision of care regimes. Conclusions: Those countries featured earlier as family-based systems and Central-Eastern European countries were growing closer to each other in this classification. As our statistical method proved, family-based and Central-Eastern European regimes are not significantly different (Minimisers). Northern countries, where investment and quality of life are also high, remain highly positioned on the scale (Maximisers). Countries that have medium-level investments and subjective well-being parameters place in the middle of the scale (Optimisers). Global changes (climate, migration, political culture, technology) are expected to have an effect on social care regimes, especially on Minimisers, where the realization or failure of investments is a critical question.

Cím:Parental Burnout in Hungary - Development and Psychometric Evaluation of the Hungarian Parental Burnout Assessment (PBA-HUN) / Csaba Hamvai, Istvan Hidegkuti, András Vargha, Barna Konkoly Thege
Dátum:2022
Megjegyzések:Introduction: Parental burnout might take place when excessive demands overwhelm the parents' resources. Aims: To develop and validate the Hungarian version of the Parental Burnout Assessment (PBA-HUN), an instrument designed to measure parental burnout; and to determine the prevalence of parental burnout in Hungary. Methods: Data were collected via an online survey from parents with at least one child living in the household (N = 1215; 82.6% mothers; Mage = 38.68 years; SDage = 6.27 years). Confirmatory factor analysis was used to investigate the factor structure of the PBA-HUN. Results: The four-factor structure of the original PBA was replicated, confirming the following factors: exhaustion in one's parental role, contrast with one's parental role, feelings of being fed up, and emotional distancing from one's children. A second-order model with a higher-order factor representing overall parental burnout also fit the data well. The internal consistency of both the subscale and total scores was excellent (α ? 0.84). Parental burnout had a moderately strong negative correlation with life satisfaction, and weak or moderate positive correlations with perceived stress, depression, vital exhaustion, and COVID-specific perceived stress supporting the construct validity of the PBA-HUN. The prevalence of parental burnout stood at 5.8% in this sample. The weak relationship between PBA-HUN scores and sociodemographic factors was also similar to those found in prior studies. Parental burnout correlated negatively with the number of hours spent sleeping and engaging in spare time activity, respectively. Conclusions: The PBA-HUN is a reliable and valid tool to assess parental burnout in Hungary.
