Megjegyzések:Emigration played a significant role in the history of the north Italian Friuli for centuries. Since the Middle Age, Friulian emigration was characterized mainly by the movement of itinerant vendors (the so-called cram©ars) to the German territories. However, the most noteworthy Friulian migration movement dates back to the fifty years preceding the First World War, when the growing labor market caused by the European industrial development required workers in enormous quantities. During these decades, the Austro-Hungarian Empire became the main destination of the movement, but the primacy of Austria was surpassed by Hungary in the years between 1892 and 1894. The mass migration in the area (occurring until the outbreak of the First World War) caused lasting changes in the Hungarian industry. The historical sources demonstrate that the presence of the Friulians was significant especially in some sectors, such as construction industry and meat processing. The Friulian companies active in the meat industry during this period had a profound effect on the diffusion and success of a new product: the salami. It should be emphasized that alongside Budapest and Szeged, home of the famous Pick salami, Debrecen also had a pivotal role in this process with its two factories of the Boschetti and Vidoni family and their migrant workers.

Megjegyzések:The Vidoni family's most outstanding accomplishment is the foundation of the country's third most important salami factory in Debrecen. Besides raising the reputation of the economy of the neighbouring regions and the fame of the local meat packaging industry, the factory also made Debrecen's name well-known on an international level. The activity of the family and the factory can provide crucial additional information to the local history of Debrecen but at the same time it can also be seen as a significant element in the history of Italian-Hungarian relations. The recently found sources used for the detailed reconstruction of the plant's history provided the basis of a new phase of the investigation. The documents also reveal the industrial, commercial and financial strategy of the management. The majority of the documents used in this study can be found in the Archives of Hajdú-Bihar County, in the National Archives of Hungary and in the National Research Institute of Meat Production. Based on these we can determine the role this hitherto undeservedly forgotten Italian family of Debrecen and the factory they founded here.

Megjegyzések:This paper addresses the way people elaborate and share social protest against Italian politicians and EU institutions on social networks. Since its beginning in 2007, the financial crisis established itself as the main topic in Italian media discourse, monopolizing almost the whole public debate. At the same time social networks, especially Facebook, grew in popularity and importance. This new type of media played an important role in the organization of some huge protests in the last five decade. The analysis explores both how themes such as recession and austerity measures, as well as blaming of politicians and corruption, are developed and mixed with nationalist and sometimes racist utterances. In our study we take into account lexical items, rhetorical forms (metaphors, hyperbole) and arguments employed to set the politicians and the EU institutions as antagonists of ordinary people, but also to define and give sense to the crisis and perform a collective identity.
