Megjegyzések:Objectives: The overall aim of the research is to gain insight into the lifestyle and health behaviour of young people with disabilities aged 12?18 years, and to learn about the factors shaping their health. In this study, our aim was to investigate the eating habits and physical activity of adolescents with disabilities and the influencing factors. Methods: The study's source population was young people aged 12?18 with disabilities in the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County. A total of 239 completed questionnaires were processed and analysed. Boys were overrepresented in the study. Results: The results show that inadequate eating habits also exist in the population we studied, the consumption of certain foods correlates with the education level of parents. A more secure social background is a protective factor in terms of physical activity. The survey was made with the aim of intervention much needed. With precise knowledge of the health behaviour of the target group, our goal is to develop a complex intervention programme adapted to the needs of children with disabilities. Conclusion: The eating habits of adolescents with disabilities in the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County are unsatisfactory. Experience and results show that differentiated health promotion of young people with disabilities is necessary.

Megjegyzések:Introduction: Pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) is beneficial for lung mechanics, chest kinematics, metabolism, and inspiratory and peripheral muscle function. Freediving training (FD) can be effective in sportsmen and can improve breath-holding time. Aims: We sought to determine the effectiveness of freediving training in the pulmonary rehabilitation of COPD patients. Patients and methods: Twenty-three COPD patients (15 men and 8 women; median age 63 years; FEV1: 41% pred; BMI: 28 kg/m(2)) participated in the FD + PR group (3 weeks PR and 3 weeks FD + PR) and 46 patients with COPD (25 men and 21 women; median age 66 years; FEV1: 43% pred; BMI: 27 kg/m(2)) participated in an inpatient PR program (6 weeks). Patients performed comfort zone breath holding for 30 min/day. Patients increased their breath-holding time within their comfort zone for 30 min. We detected lung function, chest expansion (CWE), inspiratory muscle pressure (MIP), peripheral muscle function (GS), and exercise capacity (6MWD), and we included breath-holding time (BHT), quality of life score (COPD Assessment Test (CAT)), modified Medical Research Dyspnea Scale (mMRC) score, and the severity of the disease assessed by the BODE index (FEV1, BMI, 6MWD, and mMRC) and an alternative scale (FEV1, BMI, 6MWD, and CAT). Result: There were significant differences in the characteristics of the two groups. Significant improvement was detected in all functional and quality of life parameters except lung function in both groups. Significantly higher improvement was detected in CWE, GS, 6MWD, BHT, CAT, mMRC, alternative scale, and MIP. The improvement in forced vital capacity (FVC) was not significant. There were no side effects of FD training. Conclusion: The FD method can potentiate the effect of PR, improving not only BHT but also other parameters.

Dátum:2023
ISSN:2296-2565
Megjegyzések:Introduction: Oral health, a critical aspect of overall well-being, is influenced by various sociodemographic and lifestyle factors, with poor oral health associated with systemic diseases and diminished quality of life. Methods: This cross-sectional study leverages data from the Hungarian European Health Interview Survey (EHIS) representative of the Hungarian population, to conduct a comprehensive examination of the intersection between these factors and oral health, aiming to identify potential risk factors and contribute to the development of targeted interventions. The research examined associations between sociodemographic/lifestyle factors and oral health. Statistical techniques included Pearson's Chi-square test, multivariate and ordinal logistic regression analyses. Weighting was applied to assure the representativeness of the population and enhance the validity of the survey results. Results: The study identifies gender, age, education, financial status, smoking, and self-perceived oral health as key factors influencing oral health outcomes. Notably, regular dental visits significantly reduced the risk of poor oral health and caries. Females, non-smokers, university graduates, high-income individuals, and those with good self-perceived health had fewer missing teeth and better self-perceived oral health. Teeth extractions due to decay, especially when not replaced, significantly increased the perception of poor oral health, while regular dental visits improved it. Discussion: The study highlights the need for personalized oral health interventions considering the different sociodemographic and lifestyle factors, along with promotion of healthy lifestyle, more frequent dental office visits and equitable dental care access. The findings offer the potential to inform regional oral health policies and prevention strategies, improving oral health and overall wellbeing.

Megjegyzések:Objectives: The paper proposes to identify the determinants of patients' rights awareness in mothers and to examine the relationship of health literacy with awareness of those rights. Methods: Our results are based on data from a convenience sample of 894 non-health professional ethnic Hungarian mothers from Hungary, Romania and Slovakia. Health literacy is measured with the HLS-EU-16 questionnaire. Results: Analysis of variance reveals a significant association of health literacy with patient rights awareness. Our results show that health literacy is the highest among patients who filed a complaint through formal channels and/or took legal measures to restore their rights upon violation. A logistic regression model is built to identify the likelihood of having high patient rights awareness, that is, acting formally for the restoration of rights upon infringement. The model controls for covariates. When controlled for covariates, the likelihood of having high patient rights awareness increases with age, and is higher for mothers with highest education, for inhabitants of larger towns, as well as for those with adequate health literacy. Conclusions: The findings of our study have implications for health policy, as they reveal significant inequalities in patient rights culture.

Megjegyzések:Objectives: Physical activity (PA) has a positive effect on life satisfaction (LS) among adolescents, but the moderating effect of gender and level of PA intensity have been equivocal. Our aim was to examine the pattern of physical activity by grade in high school students, and the role of gender and grade on the association between physical activity and life satisfaction. Methods: Four repeated cross-sectional online questionnaire surveys between 2011 and 2013 were carried out among all students in one Hungarian high school (N = 3,450). Health status and behavior was assessed by the Hungarian online version of the health behavior of school-aged children (HBSC) questionnaire. Regression with robust variance estimator was used to identify determinants of life satisfaction. Results: Good self-reported health as opposed to bad increased life satisfaction by 0.30 standard deviation; having very well or well-off family as opposed to not well-off increased LS by 0.16 standard deviation; and being inactive compared to being vigorously active decreased LS by 0.1 standard deviation. Conclusions: Physical inactivity has a negative effect on life satisfaction in boys and girls regardless of grade but compounded by low perceived family wealth.

Megjegyzések:Objective: To examine the parental food consumption and diet quality and its associations with children's consumption in families at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes mellitus across Europe. Also, to compare food frequency consumption among parents and children from high-risk families to the European Dietary guidelines/recommendations. Design: Cross-sectional study using Feel4diabetes FFQ. Setting: Families completed FFQ and anthropometric measures were obtained. Linear regression analyses were applied to investigate the relations between parental food consumption and diet quality and their children's food consumption after consideration of potential confounders. Participants: 2095 European families (74 center dot 6 % mothers, 50 center dot 9 % girls). The participants included parent and one child, aged 6-8 years. Results: Parental food consumption was significantly associated with children's intake from the same food groups among boys and girls. Most parents and children showed under-consumption of healthy foods according to the European Dietary Guidelines. Parental diet quality was positively associated with children's intake of 'fruit' (boys: beta = 0 center dot 233, P < 0 center dot 001; girls: beta = 0 center dot 134, P < 0 center dot 05) and 'vegetables' (boys: beta = 0 center dot 177, P < 0 center dot 01; girls: beta = 0 center dot 234, P < 0 center dot 001) and inversely associated with their 'snacks' consumption (boys: beta = -0 center dot 143, P < 0 center dot 05; girls: beta = -0 center dot 186, P < 0 center dot 01). Conclusion: The present study suggests an association between parental food consumption and diet quality and children's food intake. More in-depth studies and lifestyle interventions that include both parents and children are therefore recommended for future research.

Megjegyzések:Objectives: The aim of our research was to investigate the self-rated health status, health behaviour and hygiene habits of pregnant women, and to explore the influencing factors during the pandemic. Methods: The sample included 1,200 pregnant women who gave birth in the most progressive institutions of the three examined counties in Hungary; 839 questionnaires were returned, based on which the willingness to answer can be said to be 69.9%. After data cleaning, 640 questionnaires were added to the database. Descriptive statistical analyses and correlation tests were performed, during which we used the Pearson's chi-square test and Fisher's exact test. Results: Socio-demographic factors show a significant correlation with the perceived state of health and the degree of responsibility for health, however, the existence of a chronic disease does not affect either the self-assessed state of health or hygienic behaviour. Factors influencing hygienic behaviour include residence, education, assessed income, and gestational age. We found no correlation between health status and hygienic attitude. Conclusions: Our results draw attention to the fact that among pregnant women ? especially pregnant women with low socioeconomic status ? education about hygiene habits is of particular importance. Teamwork is needed in this area, which should start during the period of preparation for pregnancy, but at the latest in the early stages of pregnancy.

Cím:Breast cancer screening and its associating factors among hungarian women aged 45-65 : a cross-sectional study based on the European health interview surveys from 2009 to 2019 / Pataki Jenifer, Dombrádi Viktor, Sárváry Attila, Szőllősi Gergő József
Dátum:2023
ISSN:1471-2458
Megjegyzések:Background In 2020, globally 685,000 people died, and 2.3 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer. The main cause of cancer deaths among women is breast cancer, which account for 15.5% of all cancer deaths. Most of these could have been avoided with timely diagnosis. The aim of our study was to determine the proportion of breast screening participation in Hungary, and to identify possible factors that may influence breast screening attendance. Methods Our data were gathered from the cross-sectional European Health Interview Surveys conducted in Hungary in 2009, 2014, and 2019. In terms of categorical characteristics, Pearson's chi-square test was performed to evaluate the differences between people who have attended breast screening within two years and who have only attended more than two years ago. To determine the factors that may have an impact on the uptake of screening, generalized linear model with logit link function regarding binomial probability distribution was executed. Results The responses of 2626 women between the age 45-65 were included in our study. In 2009 85% (n=741), in 2014 90% (n=851) and in 2019 87% (n=699) of the respondents claimed to have ever attended a breast screening in their life. In 2009 68% (n=594), in 2014 66% (n=630) and in 2019 64% (n=515) said that they have taken part in breast screening within two years (p=0.331). From 2014 to 2019 (AOR=0.72 [0.57-0.89]) the chance of attending breast screening was decreasing. We observed that both secondary (AOR=1.97 [1.60-2.44]) and tertiary educational level (AOR=2.23 [1.67-3.00]), higher perceived income (AOR=1.54 [1.25-1.90]), and more frequent meeting with the doctor (AOR=1.77 [1.39-2.27]) and with the specialist (AOR=1.88 [1.54-2.28]) appeared as protective factors of breast screening attendance. Conclusions Our results show that the lifetime prevalence of breast screening participation is high, however the recommended biennial rate is relatively low. To increase the participation rate, various initiatives would be needed, especially for women in identified risk groups, which are lower educational level, lower perceived income, and less frequent meeting with the doctor and with the specialist.

Cím:Association of HDL subfractions with cardiovascular risk in Hungarian general and Roma populations / P. Pikó, N. A. Werissa, Z. Kosa, J. Sandor, I. Seres, G. Paragh, R. Adany
Dátum:2022
ISSN:1101-1262
Megjegyzések:Background: High-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol levels are inversely associated with cardiovascular risk (CVR). However, HDL cholesterol is not a homogeneous lipid and can be subdivided into subfractions, which are not uniformly associated with CVR. Among Roma populations, the prevalence of reduced HDL cholesterol levels and, consequently, that of cardiovascular diseases is very high. However, it is not known how this reduction affects the different HDL subfractions and whether changes in their representation are associated with changes in CVR. Methods: The study aimed to investigate whether there is a difference in the HDL subfraction profile between the Hungarian general (HG) and Roma populations and to determine the association of the different subfractions with the CVR estimated by the Framingham Risk Score (FRS) and the Systematic COronary Risk Evaluation (SCORE) algorithms. HDL cholesterol was separated using the Lipoprint system, which separates 10 subfractions into three classes: large HDL (HDL-L), medium HDL (HDL-I), and small HDL (HDL-S). Analyses were carried out on samples of 100 control subjects (50 Hungarian general and 50 Roma individuals with normal lipid profiles) and 277 individuals with reduced HDL-C levels. Results: Our results show that Roma has reduced levels of the overall HDL subfraction profile, with significant decreases in HDL-6, and -7. Regardless of the estimation method, elevated levels (in mmol/L) of HDL-1 to 3 and HDL-L were significantly associated with reduced risk. A higher representation (in %) of HDL-1 to 3 subfractions have a significant risk-reducing, while HDL-8 to 10 have a risk-increasing effect estimated by FRS. Conclusions: The results of our study show that levels of CVR protective HDL subfractions are significantly lower in Roma individuals and their reduced levels are associated with increased CVR, suggesting that the distribution of HDL subfractions contributes to the to the overall unfavourable CVR profile of Roma.

Megjegyzések:Abstract: Knee and hip joint replacements for the elderly are increasingly placing a burden on healthcare. Our aim was to verify the efficiency of the prehabilitation program among patients with knee arthroplasty (TKA) and hip arthroplasty (THA), taking into account the length and cost of postoperative rehabilitation and the restoration of function. We introduced a two-week preoperative physiotherapy program for patients awaiting knee and hip replacement surgery. We measured the duration and costs of the hospital stays, the active and passive range of motion of the hip and knee joints, and the quality of life. In the study, 99 patients participated (31 male, 68 female), with a mean age of 69.44 ? 9.69 years. We showed that, as a result of the prehabilitation program, the length of postoperative hospital stay decreased (THA: median 31.5 (IQR 26.5?32.5) vs. median 28 (IQR 21?28.5), TKA: median 36.5 (IQR 28?42) vs. median 29 (IQR 26?32.5)), and the patients' quality of life showed a significant improvement (TKA: median 30.5 (IQR 30?35) vs. median 35 (IQR 33?35), THA: median 25 (IQR 25?30) vs. median 33 (IQR 31.5?35)). The flexion movements were significantly improved through prehabilitation in both groups. Based on our positive results, we recommend the introduction of prehabilitation into TKA- and THA-related care.
