The impact of selected HRM factors on company's survival of SMEs: Empirical research in V4 countries / Jaroslav Belas, Renata Machova, Judit Oláh, Zdenko Metzker
Dátum:

ISSN:

Megjegyzések:
This paper aimed to present and quantify the impact of significant HRM factors on the survival of SMEs in the V4 countries. In June 2022, researchers conducted a study in the Visegrad Four countries to understand the attitudes of SMEs. The study employed a random sampling method and included 1,398 respondents. The established scientific hypothesis was verified using linear regression modelling at a significance level of α = 5%. The study found a link between specific HR practices and the medium-term survival of SMEs in the Visegrad Four countries. The intensity of this dependence varies across the V4 countries. Czech respondents emphasized the importance of investing in improving the qualification of their employees in the context of firm sustainability. At the same time, Slovak SMEs drew attention to the importance of the existing incentive system for employees. SMEs in Poland strongly and positively perceived the importance of human capital in the company and regular evaluation of employee performance in their attitudes. A somewhat surprising finding is that in Hungary, the individual HRM factors were not statistically significant. The aggregate model for all V4 countries showed the highest intensity of dependence between the defined variables.

Globalization of the labour market : circular migration in Hungary / Imola Cseh Papp, Svitlana Bilan, Krisztina Dajnoki

Megjegyzések:
Explanation of the recently intensified willingness to migrate has many components, among which migration for the purpose of employment is a paramount one. The study deals with the exploration of the three basic characteristics of globalizing employment in Central and Eastern Europe and Hungary in particular: migration motivations of foreign employees, their labour market characteristics and the degree of their social integration. The authors aim to provide a comprehensive picture of the content of engagement - which is continuously becoming significant in practice - of highly qualified employees originating from developed countries. The findings at the end of the analysis - due to the size and homogenous nature of the sample - are mostly thought-experiments, but we expect to provide a valid contribution to scientific and everyday discussions about migration.

Transition management applications to accelerate sustainable food consumption : comparative analysis between Switzerland and Hungary / Csaba Fogarassy, Huu Hoang Nguyen, Judit Oláh, József Popp

ISSN:

Megjegyzések:
The aim of this paper is to present the transition towards sustainability and its characteristics in consumer systems of different levels. The relevance of the topic comes from the many development paths and innovation programmes which are initially recognized as sustainable in former socialist countries but which eventually all turn out to be unsuccessful. This study introduces the research which compares the sustainable consumer attitudes of the "50+" population in Switzerland and Hungary. The former is one of the most advanced consumer communities in Europe and the latter is a post-communist economy in transition. The representative sample, which contained over 1000 questionnaires and complementary personal interviews, clearly indicated the difference between the two groups of consumers. While among Swiss population marketing tools and social discussions to promote sustainable and environmentally friendly consumption can easily be applied, in the case of Hungarian society we need to introduce new regulations and legislative standards to achieve the same aim. In the future, taking into account these results is highly recommended when considering the development of sustainability and political programmes.

The effect of acquisition moves on income, pre-tax profits and future strategy of logistics firms / Oláh J., Karmazin G., Máté D., Grabara J. K., Popp J.

Megjegyzések:
Our research deals with a comprehensive study of the management success factors of logistics service providers using a new approach, and examines the life of logistics service companies. The data were collected from 51 logistics service providers in Hungary. We searched for the proper enterprise scale - acquisitions - strategies (including the method of looking for the economies of scale in the LSP segment to be examined, and the role of strategy choice). Our research has found that among logistics companies those firms which followed the growth pattern has significantly higher sales revenue than the companies growing organically. Additionally, logistics companies - considering their pre-tax profits - work more efficiently when they have a growth strategy (regardless of its time lag). However, this claim is true only for those companies that did not have any (revenue) growth over the previous period. The results of our research can effectively help logistics service providers find their business success factors, which will enable them fulfil the expectations of their customers in the supply chain better. - Foundation of International Studies, 2017 and CSR, 2017.

The impact of green practices, cooperation and innovation on the performance of supply chains using statistical method of meta-analysis / Miklós Pakurár, Muhammad Asif Khan, Attila Benedek, Judit Oláh
Dátum:

ISSN:

Megjegyzések:
Businesses have to change their traditional methods to reduce the unfavourable processes of climate change and at the same time, sustainable business performance is also a basic requirement. The aim of this paper is to investigate the relationship between green practices, cooperation and innovation on the performance of supply chains. Meta-analysis of 35 publications was conducted to explore the relationship between the factors. We found a strong relationship between green practices and performance, and a moderate association between cooperation and performance and between innovation and performance, and these SCM factors are interrelated. For supply chain management, the use of green supply chain practice is strongly recommended, as this factor has best increased performance. For further research, we suggest examining the associations between SCM practices.

Supply chain integration, organizational performance and balanced scorecard: An empirical study of the banking sector in Jordan / Miklós Pakurár, Hossam Haddad, József Popp, Tehmina Khan, Judit Oláh
Dátum:

ISSN:

Megjegyzések:
This paper examines the impact of supply chain integration on organizational performance in Jordanian banking sector. Supply chain integration is divided into two categories: customer and internal integration. Organizational performance comprises of the following perspectives: customers, internal processes, organizational capacity and stewardship. The results demonstrate that supply chain integration is significantly related to organizational performance. Evidence of the improved organisational performance is also provided in the feedback from some of the surveyed banks. Internal integration impacts all four organizational performance dimensions; however, customer integration has impact only on customer perspective. The results suggest that improved customer involvement could help develop the banks' performance. Primary data was collected by using a questionnaire at Jordanian banks. The research model was tested using data from the sample (n=112) of nine banks in Jordan. The data was analysed by means of exploratory factor analysis. The results of the multiple regression analysis show that supply chain integration effects significantly organizational performance.

Financial engineering and its impact on audit efficiency in the opinion of experts / Oday Tamimi, Ildikó Orbán
Dátum:
2022
ISSN:
2071-8330 2306-3483
Megjegyzések:
The present study aimed to examine the impact of financial engineering on audit efficiency by analyzing the results of a research sample that included banks, auditors, financial analysts, and academics in Europe, as previous studies did not examine the relationship between these variables. Three major findings are outlined in this study. First, there is a statistically significant relationship between financial engineering and audit efficiency based on the results of the tests of the hypotheses. Second, there is a statistically significant relationship between financial engineering and the quality of financial reports, as the use of financial engineering innovations leads to a decrease in the credibility and relevance of financial reports for users. Finally, there is a statistically significant relationship between financial engineering and the expectations gap in the audit process, due to the increased need for more details about the financial instruments in the auditor's report. The findings of this study are important for auditors, financial engineers, bank executives, and bodies that set standards for accounting and auditing.

Is flexibility a dual mechanism? Evidence from the Hungarian food industry / Allam Yousuf, Judit Oláh, Imran Sarihasan, Abdul Rauf, Janos Felföldi
Dátum:
2023
ISSN:

Megjegyzések:
There is a body of evidence that flexibility as a mechanism can help to increase a company`s performance when an unexpected situation occurs. The food industry is considered one of the best industries and the performance of food industry undertakings accounts for 2.2% of Hungarian GDP. Food companies make up the third-largest manufacturing sector in Hungary. This study aims, therefore, to investigate the impact of operational flexibility on the performance of the Hungarian food industry by considering environmental uncertainty as a moderator. The research is cross-sectional. A customized questionnaire was used to obtain primary data. The questionnaires were distributed to a purposive group of managers, and there were 301 valid replies for statistical analysis. The findings revealed that operational flexibility has a beneficial impact on company success, while uncertainties in supply and demand do not have an effect on this link.
