Megjegyzések:In this paper we study the radio frequency(RF) transmission in wireless sensor networks. A newfinite source retrial queueing model is introduced in orderto calculate the most important system performancecharacteristics (e.g. mean waiting time, mean number ofrequests waiting for transmission). The sensors form the"sources" and the RF unit represents the "servicestation" of the queueing model. The sensors are classifiedaccording to their working purposes: The first class is the"Emergency" class, which is responsible to notify specialemergency situations (e.g. fire alarms). The second classis the "Standard" class, which performs the measurementof standard environmental data (e.g. humidity,temperature). The RF unit may enter into energy saving(or "sleeping") working mode in order to spare energyand have longer battery life. The RF communication isstopped in the sleeping mode. Concerning the "wake up"mechanism from the energy saving mode we differentiatetwo cases and create two models to compare their steady state system performance measures: In the first model theRF transmission possibility will be available randomly forthe sensor nodes (Non Controlled case). In the secondmodel the RF transmission requests coming from theemergency class, will access the wireless channelimmediately (Controlled case).

Megjegyzések:This paper focuses on a barcode based kin recognition, identification and distance evaluation method for mobile-robot swarms. Every robot in the swarm is equipped with a zebra pattern and our idea is based on the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), which has a relatively low complexity. We sampled the camera images of the robot by columns, and the sampled column were the inputs of the FFT since the Fourier Transform can detect this kind of pattern. Moreover, based on the FFT spectrum this method is capable to estimate the distance of the kin robot. Besides, the zebra pattern is modified into a barcode like pattern, and so the identification of the swarm members is also possible. To test our idea several experiments were accomplished with Surveyor SRV-1 robots, which have an on-board camera system. The captured pictures of the observer robot were sent to and processed in a PC using MATLAB program.
