Cím:Geometric and Tooth Contact Analysis of the Areas and Perimeters, on the Archimedean Worm Wheels depending on the Modification of the Axial Module / Bodzás Sándor, Szanyi Gyöngyi
Dátum:2024
ISSN:1785-8860
Megjegyzések:The goal of this study is to determine the correlation between the modification of the axial module and the received mechanical parameters on the teeth, of the worm gear. We analyze the areas and perimeters of the impressions on the teeth of the worm gear comparing the module changing. Six types of Archimedean worm gear drives are designed by the modification of the axial module to analyze the mechanical parameters between the connecting teeth of the pinion and the gear. After that, computer aided models are generated. These pairs are loaded with the same torque, to analyze the mechanical parameters on the tooth contact zone. Due to the geometric establishment, three teeth of the worm wheels are connected with the worm surface, at the same time, that is why these teeth are analyzed continuously. We approach the kinematic impressions on the surface of the worm wheel, by polygon method, to get percentage ratios between the areas and perimeters of the overall profile and the tooth contact zone, on the worm wheel, for each connecting tooth. We also determine the correlation between the axial module and the analyzed mechanical parameters, assuming average values, on the contact surfaces.

Cím:Comparison of Direct and Inverse Model-based Disturbance Observer for a Servo Drive System / Nándor Fink, Guo Zenan, Péter Szemes, Péter Korondi
Dátum:2023
ISSN:1785-8860
Megjegyzések:The well-known disturbance observer - which is based on the transfer function of the inverse model -, was published almost four decades ago. To practically implement the inverse of the transfer function a filter is added to it, in order to eliminate high frequency disturbance signals. A key step of the design of this Inverse Model Based Disturbance Observer (IMBDO) is the selection of the filter with appropriate parameters. This paper proposes a disturbance observer, which is based on direct model (DMBDO) and it can work without any additional filter. It simplifies the design and the implemented controller code. Discrete time implementations of IMBDO and DMBDO are compared by a simple internetbased servo system in a non-real-time control environment. The effect of non-equidistant sampling is examined.

Cím:The Effect of Engineering Education, on Spatial Ability, in Virtual Environments / Tibor Guzsvinecz, Éva Orbán-Mihálykó, Erika Perge, Cecília Sik-Lányi
Dátum:2023
ISSN:1785-8860
Megjegyzések:Since spatial skills are important in the modern world, tests that can improve them are included in the curriculum of engineering studies. In this article, the results of a pre-test and a post-test are presented, which were performed in the herein developed, virtual environment. The former was conducted in the beginning, while the latter was done at end of semester 2019/2020/1, with 240 engineering students. The spatial skills of students were measured on these tests using the Mental Rotation Test (MRT), Mental Cutting Test (MCT), and the Purdue Spatial Visualization Test (PSVT). Between the pretest and post-test, spatial ability enhancing courses were attended by the students. The results show that their performance in the post-test, notably improved ? albeit slightly. This improvement differs between various user groups and test types: regarding the students, 1st-year, right-handed or those who were at most 18 years old improved significantly, between the two tests; regarding the test types, significant improvement only occurred during the two MRT tests. While no such difference was detected on the pre-test, civil engineering students significantly outperformed mechanical engineering students in the post-test, while males who scored at least 50 points on the post-test, performed significantly better than females on the pre-test.

Cím:Analyzing the Spatial Skills of University Students with a Virtual Reality Application using a Desktop Display and the Gear VR / Tibor Guzsvinecz, Éva Orbán-Mihálykó, Erika Perge, Cecilia Sik-Lányi
Dátum:2020
ISSN:1785-8860
Megjegyzések:This paper presents the analyzed results of a virtual reality application which allows measuring spatial skills of the users. The application contains mental rotation tests of three types and can be used on a computer with desktop displays and on Android with the Gear VR device. The authors measured the spatial ability of 61 students with the Gear VR and of 240 students with a desktop display. By investigating the correct answer ratios, comparisons were done between the age, the gender, the primary hand, what the students are majoring in, moreover the display devices. The use of the Gear VR significantly improved on the average performance of female students by 18.02%, on left-handed students by 18.66%, on older students by 7.29% and made the purdue spatial visualization test easier by 17.21% compared to the use of a desktop display. These results also strengthen the fact that education has a future in virtual reality.

Dátum:2017
ISSN:1785-8860
Megjegyzések:The stacker cranes in automated storage/retrieval systems (AS/RS) of warehouses often have very high dynamical loads. These dynamical loads may generate harmful mast vibrations in the frame structure of stacker cranes which can reduce the stability and positioning accuracy of these machines. The aim of this paper is to develop controller design methods which have proper reference signal tracking and mast-vibration attenuation properties. First, the dynamic modeling of single-mast stacker cranes by means of multibody modeling approach is summarized. Based on this modeling technique a H?and a robust control design method are proposed for achieving the appointed purposes. The analyses of the controlled systems are carried out by time domain simulations.

Cím:From Modeling to Robust Control Design of Single-Mast Stacker Cranes / Sándor Hajdu, Péter Gáspár
Dátum:2014
ISSN:1785-8860
Megjegyzések:The paper presents the reduction of mast-vibration of single-mast stacker cranes by using a robust controller. During non-stationary movement undesirable mast vibrations may occur. These vibrations can reduce the positioning accuracy of the machine. The aim of this paper is to present the design procedure from the dynamic modeling to robust control design, in which accurate signal tracking and mast-vibration attenuation are guaranteed. The dynamic modeling of single-mast stacker cranes by means of multi-body modeling approach is summarized. The handling of varying dynamic behavior due to varying lifted load position is presented. For control design purposes the order of the model is reduced. Based on the modeling technique an appropriate robust H? controller design method is applied. The trade-off between accurate reference signal tracking and mast-vibration attenuation is presented through demonstration example.

Dátum:2021
ISSN:1785-8860
Megjegyzések:This study aims to determine and compare first-year engineering students' mental cutting ability, into two new parts, among the students of two universities in Tehran and Debrecen, concerning final mathematical exams and their gender, in order to understand whether the students of the two universities have sufficient spatial abilities. For that purpose; the Mental Cutting Test is applied to first-year engineering students to determine their mental cutting ability, in a current situation. In our research, we separate the tests into two parts, "Polyhedrons" and "Curved Surfaces". The separate tests results have been statistically evaluated and conclusions formulated. According to obtained data, the results are: First-year engineering female students of Debrecen and male students of Tehran, are more successful at Curved Surfaces than Polyhedrons; in addition, male students of Debrecen and female students of Tehran are more successful at Polyhedrons than Curved Surfaces. There is a significant correlation between the male students Polyhedrons and Curved Surfaces solutions, in both countries, but not for the female population.

Dátum:2020
ISSN:1785-8860
Megjegyzések:In the last decade student teams at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen have designed and constructed several race cars with alternative (electric or pneumatic) drives and took part and achieved successes in domestic and international competitions. For more successful racing a simulation program has been developed in Matlab for the calculation of the vehicle dynamic functions of the cars from their technical data. Currently, it has become a prerequisite of successful racing because of the large number of the possible values of technical data we can select the optimal ones by applying the above program combined with an optimizing procedure. The detailed description of the developed dynamic model and simulation program, together with the vehicle dynamics functions generated by the program are presented here. The description of the optimizing procedure will be presented elsewhere. © 2020, Budapest Tech Polytechnical Institution. All rights reserved.

Cím:Review of Methods for Determining the Moment of Inertia and Friction Torque of Electric Motors / Sziki Gusztáv Áron, Szántó Attila, Ádámkó Éva
Dátum:2024
ISSN:1785-8860
Megjegyzések:Our research group, at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen, has extensively studied the dynamic modelling and simulation of electric motor`s over the past ten years. Many simulation programs have been developed for various motor types. The technical parameters and characteristics of the motors are used as input data for the above-mentioned programs. Among these data, important dynamic characteristics are the moment of inertia and friction torque of the rotor. The friction torque includes windage, ventilation, bearing and brush friction losses. In many cases, however, the manufacturer does not provide these data in the datasheet, so they must be determined experimentally. Several methods exist in the scientific literature for the above purpose. Our research group has also developed and applied such methods in recent years. This publication reviews these methods by presenting the applied experimental setups and procedures. In addition, considering the available literature data and our previous experience, we give the accuracies that can be achieved by the methods and any difficulties that may arise during the experiments and the related computational procedures.
