Megjegyzések:At an Eastern Hungarian protected grassland, namely at the Lesser Mole Rat (Spalax leucodon Nordmann, 1840). Reservation of Hajdúbagos Nature Conservation Area, grazing animal husbandry formed the fa₀cade of the land for hundreds of years. Though, due to the unfavourable changes of the last few decades in this sector of agriculture, the primeval sand steppe meadow (Pulsatillo hungaricae-Festucetum rupicolae (Soó 1938) Borhidi 1996) plant association is endangered by the increasingly accelerating succession. To stop or at least to slow down this process the rehabilitation of the area could be necessary. The target of the restoration ecology actions is to restore the previously existing, more favourable natural status of a particular area. However, the lack of knowledge according to the conditions that refer to the original circumstances often complicates this activity. To define these reference conditions the exploration of the history of a certain landscape is very important as restoration is only successful if the restored ecosystem is similar to the original. We examined the land use changes of the research area during the last 250 years according to historical and present geographical databases using GIS technology and completed this work with the study of archival data. By our results we stated that these examinations are crucial in the proper - agriculture related - management of protected areas.

Megjegyzések:Hybrid selection and the application of hybrid specific production technologies are important in terms of the increase of the yield and crop safety of maize. The main explanation for this is climate change, since weather extremes are going on and seem to accelerate in Hungary too. The spring of 2013 can be characterized as of great amount of precipitation, in the third month, the fivefold of the 30-year average fell. In 2013, in the case of each hybrid, longer ears were observed. We can conclude that during the droughty 2012, lower ears with lesser grains were developed in the case of every hybrid. In 2013, the weather was more favourable during the period of grain-filling and development, therefore the hybrids not only produced longer ears but significantly more grains were developed in one row.

Megjegyzések:The present studies were executed in a poly-factorial long-term field experiment set up in 1983. Winter wheat was used as test plant. Studies were executed in both bi-(maize-wheat) and tri-culture (maize-pea-wheat) crop rotation systems in two crop years (2012 and 2013). Nutrient supply level of N100+PK was applied in the experiment. The dynamic change of soil moisture content (expressed in V/V%) of the upper 200cm soil layer during the vegetation period of winter wheat from sowing until harvest, just as the water supply deficit values of the vegetation period were studied. Based on our results it has been stated that the water stock of the chernozem soil was significantly affected by crop rotation ?beside other influencing factors (weather conditions, nutrient supply, tillage). Regarding the two studied crop rotation system slower soil moisture content values expressed as volume percent were calculated for the triculture crop rotation system.

Megjegyzések:Characteristically, European lamb prices largely fluctuate seasonally. Our research inlamb trade inspired us to analyze the predictability of price formation. In total, we set up 10competing models for the prediction of lamb price. Out of 10 variants seasonal decomposition wasthe method, which approximated original data most precisely. ARIMA (1,1,0) came to the second,ARIMA (1,1,1) to the third place. The difference between ARIMA (1,1,0) and ARIMA (1,1,1) is that inthe ARIMA (1,1,0) model we did not take the MA (q) parameter into consideration. The poorestapproximation was produced by the Winter-type exponential smoothing

Megjegyzések:For a long time there has been recognized existence of a link between microbial infections and animal welfare, affected by nutrition and stress. In the PhD project animal welfare was assessed and food safety aspects are reviewed for the purpose of this paper. Most farmers interviewed did not consider that any type of farm visitor has a high risk of introducing infectious agents into their herds. Personal communication found that there is a lack of knowledge transfer between scientists, advisors and farmers. So far, project succeeded in making farmers more aware of welfare and food safety issues on their farms. Basic welfare and hygiene measures taken show that majority of animals because of dirt and injuries might be likely to get infected with undesirable organisms. Neglected areas on the farms, like bad designed cubicles, dangerous alleys, dirty animals and low quality silage might be the first improvements to be done by farmers.
