Megjegyzések:	Abstract Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is frequently associated with neuropsychiatric impairments such as symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which can be screened using self-report instruments such as the Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5). The current study aims to inspect the factorial validity and cross-linguistic equivalence of the PCL-5 in individuals after TBI with differential severity. Data for six language groups (n ? 200; Dutch, English, Finnish, Italian, Norwegian, Spanish) were extracted from the CENTER-TBI study database. Factorial validity of PTSD was evaluated using confirmatory factor analyses (CFA), and compared between four concurrent structural models. A multi-group CFA approach was utilized to investigate the measurement invariance (MI) of the PCL-5 across languages. All structural models showed satisfactory goodness-of-fit with small between-model variation. The original DSM-5 model for PTSD provided solid evidence of MI across the language groups. The current study underlines the validity of the clinical DSM-5 conceptualization of PTSD and demonstrates the comparability of PCL-5 symptom scores between language versions in individuals after TBI. Future studies should apply MI methods to other sociodemographic (e.g., age, gender) and injury-related (e.g., TBI severity) characteristics to improve the monitoring and clinical care of individuals suffering from PTSD symptoms after TBI.

Megjegyzések:	We rigorously investigated potential longitudinal associations of hair cortisol and cortisone with verbal memory, time orientation, and dementia, adjusting for sociodemographic and health confounders. Data from the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing wave 6-9 (6-year follow-up, covering 4399 persons aged 50+) were analysed using linear random effects and cox regression models. In unadjusted models, hair cortisol was associated with worsened verbal memory (beta 0.19; SE 0.08), but not with time orientation (beta 0.02; SE 0.01), or dementia (beta 0.07; SE 0.16). Hair cortisone was associated with worsened verbal memory (beta 0.74; SE 0.14) and time orientation (beta 0.06; SE 0.02), but not with dementia (beta 0.47; SE 0.28). However, in the fully adjusted models, neither hair cortisol nor cortisone was associated with verbal memory, time orientation, or dementia. Consistent with prior studies, we found that more advanced age was associated with worsened verbal memory (beta 0.15; SE 0.01), time orientation (beta 0.01; SE 0.00), and dementia risk (beta 0.11; SE 0.02). Our rigorous analyses did not detect robust associations of neither hair cortisol nor cortisone with cognitive functioning or dementia across 6 years. More detailed insights into potential mechanisms are discussed.

Megjegyzések:	In this observational study we investigated whether levels of factor XIII (FXIII) and its major polymorphisms affect the outcome of thrombolysis by recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rtPA) in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients. Study cohort included 132 consecutive AIS patients undergoing i.v. thrombolysis within 4.5 h of symptom onset. Blood samples taken on admission, immediately after and 24 h after therapy were analyzed for FXIII activity and antigen levels. FXIII-A p.Val34Leu, p.Tyr204Phe, FXIII-B p.His95Arg and intron K(IVS11+144) polymorphisms were genotyped. Neurological deficit was assessed using the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale. Intracranial hemorrhage was classified according to ECASSII criteria. Long-term functional outcome was defined at 3 months post-event by the modified Rankin scale.FXIII levels showed a gradual decrease immediately after thrombolysis and 24 h later, which was not related to therapy-associated bleeding. In a multiple logistic regression model, a FXIII level in the lowest quartile 24 h post-lysis proved to be an independent predictor of mortality by 14 days post-event (OR:4.95, 95%CI:1.31-18.68, p<0.05). No association was found between the investigated FXIII polymorphisms and therapeutic outcomes. In conclusion, our findings indicate that FXIII levels 24 h after thrombolysis might help to identify patients at increased risk for short-term mortality.
