Cím:Bounds on the quality of reconstructed images in binary tomography / K. Joost Batenburg, Wagner Fortes, Lajos Hajdu, Robert Tijdeman

Megjegyzések:Binary tomography deals with the problem of reconstructing a binary image from its projections. In particular, there is a focus on highly underdetermined reconstruction problems for which many solutions may exist. In such cases, it is important to have a quality measure for the reconstruction with respect to the unknown original image. In this article, we derive a series of upper bounds that can be used to guarantee the quality of a reconstructed binary image. The bounds limit the number of pixels that can be incorrect in the reconstructed image with respect to the original image. We provide several versions of these bounds, ranging from bounds on the difference between any two binary solutions of a tomography problem to bounds on the difference between approximate solutions and the original object. The bounds are evaluated experimentally for a range of test images, based on simulated projection data.

Cím:New combinatorial interpretations of r-Whitney and r-Whitney-Lah numbers / Gyimesi Eszter, Nyul Gábor
Dátum:2019
ISSN:0166-218X
Megjegyzések:T. A.~Dowling introduced Whitney numbers of the first and second kind concerning the so-called Dowling lattices of finite groups. It turned out that they are generalizations of Stirling numbers. Later, I. Mező defined r-Whitney numbers as common generalizations of Whitney numbers and r-Stirling numbers. Additionally, G.-S. Cheon and J.-H. Jung defined r-Whitney-Lah numbers. In our paper, we give new combinatorial interpretations of r-Whitney and r-Whitney-Lah numbers, which correspond better with the combinatorial definitions of Stirling, r-Stirling, Lah and r-Lah numbers. These allow us to explain their properties in a purely combinatorial manner, as well as derive several new identities.

Cím:General neighborhood sequences in Zn / András Hajdu, Lajos Hajdu, Robert Tijdeman

Megjegyzések:A főcímben a Zn az n-dimenziós egész teret jelenti
Neighborhoods and neighborhood sequences play important roles in several branches of pattern analysis. In earlier papers in Z(n) only certain special (e.g. periodic or octagonal) sequences were investigated. In this paper we study neighborhood sequences which are either ultimately periodic or allow at every neighborhood to do nothing at no cost. We give finite procedures and descriptive theoretical criteria for certain important (e.g. metrical) properties of the sequences. Our results are valid for several types of classical neighborhood sequences and for generated distance functions (e.g. octagonal and chamfer distances) which are widely applied in digital image processing. We conclude the paper by showing how our results contribute to the theory of distance transformations.
