Megjegyzések:3'-Substituted p-methoxyphenyl β-lactosides and one of their 3'-epimer were synthesized. The common feature of these compounds is the presence of a strong negative charge at position C-3' in the form of sulfonic acid moieties. The 3',4'-diol derivative of p-methoxyphenyl lactoside was also glycosylated with the thioglycoside of the sulfoulosonic acid. The two-regioisomeric trisaccharides were isolated but their deprotection failed. The aim of the present study was to find carbohydrate ligand(s), which can inhibit the adhesion between Helicobacter pylori and the gastrointestinal epithelial cells.

Megjegyzések:Recent progress in synthetic methods and structure determination has resulted in several new developments in the chemistry of glycosyl azides. A review on these synthetically useful intermediates was published by Micheel and Klemer more than 30 years ago but newer treatments of related topics scarcely take notice of these compounds despite their definite importance as precursors to glycosyl amines and heterocyclic derivatives such as 1,2,3-triazoles.

Megjegyzések:The fully O-benzylated pentasaccharide glycosyl azide representing the common corestructure of N-glycans was synthesized. The beta-mannosidic linkage was created by C-2epimerization of the initially introduced beta-D-gluco-unit via DMSO/Ac2O oxidation followedby stereoselective reduction with tetrabutylammonium borohydride.

Megjegyzések:A new reducing trisaccharide 0-α-D-arabinofuranosyl-(1? 2)-0-α-D-mannopyranosyl-(1?2)-0-D-glucopyranose (11), named ristriose, has been synthesized in twenty one steps, starting from D-glucose, D-mannose and D-arabinose, with an overall yield of 3.5 %.

Megjegyzések:Reactions of acetylated N-aryl-D-glucosylamines with N-bromosuccinimide-benzoyl peroxide or with sulfuryl chloride-azoisobutyronitrile gave aromatic halo derivatives. The corresponding N-acetylated compounds were mostly inert towards halogenation. Bromination of acetylated cellobiosylpiperidine resulted in the formation of acetobromocellobiose, while the acetylated 2,6,8-trichloro-9-(β-D-glucopyranosyl)-purine was transformed into its 5'-bromo derivative. In contrast, peracetylated glucopyranosyl isothiocyanate or azides, when treated by N-bromosuccinimide under free-radical conditions, essentially undergo an initial homolysis of the anomeric C-H bond which is faster for β-anomers. This initiates a new, simple and efficient free-radical transformation of such sugar azides into an unprecedented brornimino lactone (92% isolated yield).
