Megjegyzések:This paper is devoted to the analysis aof the general trends in the nucleon number dependence of the experimental root-mean-square (rms) charge radii. It is based on the data obtained by different methods of combined treatment of (i) radii changes determined from optical and - to a lesser extent - KX-ray isotope shifts, and (ii) absolute radii measured from muonic and electronic scattering experiments. These methods have recently been developed and now updated including experimental data up to the beginning of 2008. Thus, new sets of rms nuclear radii have been obtained covering 865 isotopes fot 76 elements from 1H to 96Cm. New information on the isotopic and isotonic behaviour of the nuclear charge radius is obtained with a high accuracy compared to that of the directly measured radii values for the same element. Of special interest is that concerning the light elements and the appearance of non-traditional magic neutron and proton numbers, as N=6, 14 and Z=14; the double-magic properties of 96Zr are discussed in more detail. A quantitative criterion is introduced, which points to the peculiarities in the radii trend and offers an opportunity to investigate it more closely. The results provide important information which may serve as guide to incorporate essential new features into the theoretical approaches.

Cím:Nonstandard interactions and sterile neutrinos in super-weak U(1) extension of the standard model / Timo J. Kärkkäinen, Zoltán Trócsányi
Dátum:2022
ISSN:0954-3899
Megjegyzések:The super-weak force is a minimal, anomaly-free U(1) extension of the standard model (SM), designed to explain the origin of (i) neutrino masses and mixing matrix elements, (ii) dark matter, (iii) cosmic inflation, (iv) stabilization of the electroweak vacuum and (v) leptogenesis. We discuss the neutrino sector of this model in detail and study the allowed parameter space of the neutrino Yukawa matrices and mixing matrix elements. The model generates nonstandard neutrino interactions, whose allowed experimental limits are used to constrain the parameter space of the model. We provide benchmark points in the relevant parameter space that fall within the sensitivity region of the SHiP and MATHUSLA experiments.

Cím:Correlations and fluctuations measured by the CMS experiment in pp and PbPb / Wei Li, CMS collaboration
Dátum:2011
ISSN:0954-3899
Megjegyzések:Measurements of charged dihadron angular correlations are presented in proton-proton (pp) and lead-lead (PbPb) collisions, over a broad range of pseudorapidity and azimuthal angle, using the CMS detector at the LHC. In very high multiplicity pp events at center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, a striking 'ridge'-like structure emerges in the two-dimensional correlation function for particle pairs with intermediate pT of 1-3 GeV/c, in the kinematic region 2.0 < | Delta(eta)| < 4.8 and small Delta phi, which is similar to observations in heavy-ion collisions. Studies of thi(s) new effect as a function of particle transverse momentum are discussed. The long-range and short-range dihadron correlations are also studied in PbPb collision at a nucleon-nucleon centerof- mass energy of 2.76 TeV, as a function of transverse momentum and collision centrality. A Fourier analysis of the long-range dihadron correlations is presented and discussed in the context of CMS measurements of higher order flow coefficients.

Dátum:2002
ISSN:0954-3899
Megjegyzések:The renormalization group (RG) flow for the two-dimensional sine-Gordon model is determined by means of Polchinski's RG equation at next-to-leading order in the derivative expansion. In this paper, we have two different goals, (i) to consider the renormalization scheme-dependence of Polchinski's method by matching Polchinski's equation with the Wegner-Houghton equation and with the real space RG equations for the two-dimensional dilute Coulomb-gas, (ii) to go beyond the local potential approximation in the gradient expansion in order to clarify the supposed role of the field-dependent wave-function renormalization, The well-known Coleman fixed point of the sine-Gordon model is recovered after linearization, whereas the flow exhibits strong dependence on the choice of the renormalization scheme when non-linear terms are kept. The RG flow is compared to those obtained in the Wegner-Houghton approach and in the dilute gas approximation for the two-dimensional Coulomb-gas.

Cím:Measurement of Bose-Einstein correlations in pp collisions at the LHC with CMS / Sandra S. Padula, the CMS Collaboration
Dátum:2011
ISSN:0954-3899
Megjegyzések:Bose-Einstein correlations are measured in samples of charged particles produced in proton?proton collisions at 0.9 and 7 TeV center-of-mass energies, recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The signal is observed in the form of an enhancement of number of pairs of the same-sign charged particles with small relative momentum. The dependence of this enhancement on kinematic and topological features of the event is studied.
