Megjegyzések:The synthesis of polyesters and polyamides by enzyme-catalyzed processes in vitro was developed in the last decades as a green alternative to obtain biodegradable synthetic polymers with various applications, such as nanoparticle-sized carriers for drug delivery. Polyesteramides were much less studied in this respect, although having the presumable advantage of increased mechanical and thermic resistance brought by the amide moieties. In this work, polyesteramides were synthesized for the first time employing as raw materials epsilon-caprolactam and a hydroxy acid. L-malic, 3-hydroxybutyric, 12-hydroxystearic and 16-hydroxyhexadecanoic acid, respectively, were investigated as co-monomers in solventless or organic medium, using the immobilized lipase Novozyme 435 as catalyst. The short chain hydroxy acids holding secondary hydroxyl groups yielded oligomers with average degree of polymerization no higher than 4, while in the case of the long-chain 12-hydroxystearic acid this value increased to 7. The best results were achieved by using 16-hydroxyhexadecanoic acid in 2:1 M excess at 80. C, yielding a product with 75% copolymer content and average molecular weight higher than 3000 Da. The emulsion-solvent evaporation method allowed the efficient production of nanoparticles based on this copolymer, with sizes around 230 nm, used for the encapsulation of a model bioactive compound, the anticancer drug sorafenib. Production yields of >70% and encapsulation efficiencies of around 60% are very promising for further development of this approach.

Dátum:2008
Megjegyzések:Oxidative oligomerization of 1,6-dithio-D-mannitol (DTM) using air as oxidant is reported. It was found that both ring and chain oligomers were formed with a degree of polymerization up to 11-12 as determined by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS). It was found that the relative amounts of rings to chains were significantly dependent on the solvent employed: in water or in dimethyl formamide (DMF) yielded ring oligomers with a relative amount of higher than 90% (on the average), and almost exclusive formation of chain oligomers was observed in methanol or in dioxane. The oxidative oligomerization of DTM was also carried out in the presence of vancomycin aglycon as a template. It was observed that in water the vancomycin aglycon induced the exclusive formation of chain oligomers from DTM. The non-covalent, strong interaction existing between the vancomycin aglycon and the chain dimer of DTM was further supported by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS).

Cím:New potentially biodegradable polyurethanes / Jenő Borda, Sándor Kéki, Ildikó Bodnár, Nóra Németh, Miklós Zsuga
Dátum:2006
ISSN:1042-7147
Megjegyzések:New potentially biodegradable, thermoplastic multiblock copolymers from poly(lactic acid), poly (??caprolactone) and/or poly(lactic acid???caprolactone) copolymers were synthesized using toluene diisocyanate (TDI) as chain extender and poly(ethylene glycol) as intrinsic plasticizer. The structures of the resulting copolymers were unambiguously confirmed by NMR, IR and matrix assisted laser desorption ionization?time?of?flight mass spectrometry (MALDI?TOF MS) methods. The effects of the molar ratio of the polymers to TDI on the molar mass and on the mechanical properties of the resulting multiblock copolymers were also investigated. The mechanical properties such as tensile strength, Young's modulus, Shore A hardness and elongation at break of the multiblock copolymers suitable for making foils are compared with those of some relevant commercially available plastics. According to the comparative mechanical tests, some mechanical properties of the new biodegradable copolymers exceed those of the conventional plastics.

Dátum:2023
ISSN:2073-4360
Megjegyzések:In this work, the preparation and systematic investigation of cross-linked polyurethane-epoxy (PU-EP) polymer systems are reported. The PU-EP polymers were prepared using a reaction of isocyanate (NCO)-terminated PU-prepolymer with diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA)-amine cooligomer. The oligomerization of DGEBA was carried out by adding furfurylamine (FA) or ethanolamine (EA), resulting in DGEBA-amine cooligomers. For the synthesis of NCO-terminated PU-prepolymer, poly(?-caprolactone)diol (PCD) (Mn = 2 kg/mol) and 1,6-hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) were used. The cross-linking was achieved by adding DGEBA-amine cooligomer to PU-prepolymer, in which the obtained urethane bonds, due to the presence of free hydroxil groups in the activated DGEBA, served as netpoints. During cross-linking, ethanolamine provides an additional free hy- droxyl group for the formation of a new urethane bond, while furfurylamine can serve as a thermoreversible coupling element (e.g., Diels?Alder adduct). The PU-EP networks were characterized using attenuated total reflectance Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamical mechanical analysis (DMA) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The DMA curves of some PU-EPs (depending on the compositions and the synthetic method) revealed a plateau-like region above the melting temperature (Tm) of PCD, confirming the presence of a cross-linked structure. This property resulted in a shape memory (SM) behavior for these samples, which can be fine-tuned in the presence of furfurylamine through the formation of additional thermoreversible bonds (e.g., Diels-Alder adduct).

Dátum:2020
ISSN:2073-4360
Megjegyzések:The characteristics of the polyalkylene oxide polyether polyols highly influence the properties of final polyurethane products. As a novel approach, in order to gain structural information, the recently invented data mining procedures, namely the Mass-remainder analysis (MARA) and the Multistep Mass-remainder analysis (M-MARA) are successfully applied for the processing of tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) data of various industrially important polyether polyols. M-MARA yields an ultra-simplified graphical representation of the MS/MS spectra and sorts the product ions based on their double bond equivalent (DBE) values. The maximum DBE values unambiguously differentiate among the various polyether polyols. Accordingly, the characteristic DBE values were 0, 1 for the linear diol polyethers, 0, 1, 2 for the three-arm, and 0, 1 2, 3, 4 for the six-arm polyether polyols. In addition, it was also found that the characteristic collision energy necessary for the optimum fragmentation yield depended linearly on the molecular weight of the polyols. This relationship offers an easy way for instrument tuning to gain structural information.

Dátum:2018

Megjegyzések:Shape memory polymer (SMP) is capable of memorizing one or more temporary shapes and recovering successively to the permanent shape upon various external stimuli. Beside of the above mentioned one-way variants, also two-way shape memory polymers (SMPs) and shape memory (SM) systems exist which feature a reversible shape change on the basis of "on-off switching" of the external stimulus. The preparation, properties and modelling of shape memory epoxy resins (SMEP), SMEP foams and composites have been surveyed in this exhaustive review article. The underlying mechanisms and characteristics of SM were introduced. Emphasis was put to show new strategies on how to tailor the network architecture and morphology of EPs to improve their SM performance. To produce SMEPs novel preparation techniques, such as electrospinning, ink printing, solid-state foaming, were tried. The potential of SMEPs and related systems as multifunctional materials has been underlined. Added functionality may include, among others, self-healing, sensing, actuation, porosity control, recycling. Recent developments in the modelling of SMEPs were also highlighted. Based on the recent developments some open topics were deduced which are merit of investigations in future works.
