Megjegyzések:Little published information is available regarding epidemiological data on vitamin D status in the large geographical region ofCentral Europe (CE). We searched the journal literature with regard to 25(OH)D concentrations among community-dwelling orhealthy people living in CE. 25(OH)D concentrations varied by age, season, study sample size, andmethodological approach [i.e.,25(OH)D assay used]. Concentrations of 25(OH)D in CE appeared lower than 30 ng/mL, and the magnitude of hypovitaminosisD was similar to that reported inWestern Europe. While most of the studies reviewed were cross-sectional studies, a longitudinalstudy was also included to obtain information on seasonal variability. The longitudinal study reported wintertime 25(OH)D valuesclose to 21?23 ng/mL for all studied age groups, with a significant increase of 25(OH)D in August reaching 42 ng/mL for thoseaged 0?9 years, but only 21 ng/mL for the elderly aged 80?89 years. The decrease in 25(OH)D with respect to age was attributed todecreased time spent in the sun and decreased vitamin D production efficiency. Based on the literature review on vitamin D statusin the CE populations, it can be concluded that 25(OH)vitamin D levels are on average below the 30 ng/mL level.

Cím:Plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 level correlates with lipoprotein subfractions in obese non-diabetic subjects / Sándor Somodi, Ildikó Seres, Hajnalka Lőrincz, Mariann Harangi, Péter Fülöp, György Paragh
Dátum:2018
Megjegyzések:Background. The elevated level of plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) in obese subjects with metabolic syndrome and in patients with type 2 diabetes is well established. Association of plasma PAI-1 and lipid metabolism is still unclear. The aim of the present study was to determine the relationship between plasma PAI-1 levels and the distribution of lipoprotein subfractions in obese and lean non-diabetic individuals. Subjects and Methods. We enrolled fifty non-diabetic obese patients and thirty-two healthy volunteers. Lipoprotein subfractions were detected with Lipoprint System. Plasma PAI-1, tumor necrosis factor-? (TNF-?), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and myeloperoxidase (MPO) concentrations were determined with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), while serum paraoxonase-1 (PON1) activities were measured by spectrophotometry.Results. The TNF-?, IL-6, oxidized low-density-lipoprotein (oxLDL) and MPO levels were found to be significantly higher, while PON1 paraoxonase and arylesterase activities were non-significantly lower in the obese patients. Strong significant negative correlations were found between plasma PAI-1 concentration and mean LDL-size; as well as between PAI-1 concentrations and the levels of the large and intermediate high-density-lipoprotein (HDL) subfractions. In multiple regression analysis, PAI-1 was predicted by waist circumference and intermediate HDL subfraction. Conclusion. The significant correlations between PAI-1 levels and lipoprotein subfractions indicate the link between PAI-1 and lipid metabolism in obesity.
