Dátum:2021
ISSN:1816-7403 1991-7074
Megjegyzések:Nowadays, the banking system is undergoing significant changes. Digitalization that appears in Industry 4.0 also pioneers in the banking system, so we can also talk about Bank 4.0 as a new development direction. In this shift in the digital age, it becomes even more critical to examine the performance of banks. The case study approach was based on an attempt to diagnose the performance of a sample of local commercial banks in Qatar and Kuwait based on their financial statements for the period 2013?2017, and approve the existing accounting data as sources for the financial analysis process, by using essential financial analysis tools such as financial ratios. The output of the analysis was used to measure performance. All this is applicable when using the CAMELS rating model to evaluate the financial performance of the banking sector. The results show statistically significant differences between countries for four factors (Asset quality, Management efficiency, Earnings quality and Sensitivity) and none for the remaining two (Capital adequacy and Liquidity management) because the significant level is higher than 5%. However, the two factors with no significant differences are vital to the prudent operation of banks, mainly that Qatari banks perform better than Kuwaiti banks.

Megjegyzések:The Agile approach proved to be effective in building self-managed software development teams that can quickly respond to rapid changes and adapt to ambiguous and complex business environments with fast-changing requirements. After the pandemic, and as a cause of worldwide lockdown, companies struggled to survive. Most companies started shifting their work processes and environment to handle ambiguity using Agile methods and tools. The company's transition to Agile is usually led by HR, which played an essential role in this change, managing the talent and choosing the best processes to benefit the organization and avoiding other rigid processes and consider them wastes. Some Agile methodologies can add tremendous value to the organizations, while applying other methods can be harmful. Today, companies seek to reinvent their working practices by incorporating the Agile approach to improve flexibility and meet increasingly competitive market demands. This study examines the Agile management role in the HRM environment transformation and its effect on the new reality of adopting technologies in all HRM.

Cím:The Influence of Gender and Educational Attainment Differences on International Migrants' Occupational Status in OECD Countries / Main Al-Dalahmeh, Imran Sarihasan, Krisztina Dajnoki
Dátum:2021
ISSN:2227-7099
Megjegyzések:The purpose of the study is to show two essential elements of the occupational status of international migrants in OECD countries. The study extends the current research by focusing on how the educational attainment of international migrants and the gender dimension affect migrants' occupational status. To achieve the aim of the study, a quantitative research approach was followed. Ordinary least square regression analysis was used to emphasize the relationship between educational attainment and gender differences, and occupational status. The databases were taken from the OECD DIOC 2015/2016. It has been found that high-level educational attainment matches with representative vacancies, and female migrants tend to have those occupations more than male migrants in OECD countries. On the other hand, the study's limitations included a lack of data on testing the exact occupational status of migrants in OECD countries, as well as educational attainment levels that were not specifically divided into each level of education in the databases.

Megjegyzések:The purpose of the study is to indicate nativity status differences (native-born and foreign-born) by gender based on labour market status. The primaryobjective is to explore the labour market status differences in terms of nativity status based on a gender perspective of labour status. A quantitative research approach was applied to this study. Linear Regression analysis and Trend Analyses are used to emphasize the relationship between the native-born males/females and the foreign-born males/females in the labour market status as employed, unemployed and inactive. This study aims to answer which is higher in the case of native-born foreign-born female/male employed, unemployed, and participation rates in Western-European countries. Data was collected from OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) migration databases between 2014 and 2018 for Western European countries. It has been found that in the chosen countries, there is a linear relationship between native-born males/females and foreign-born males/females in most of the cases. If one side increases in terms of employed status or unemployed status, the other side also increases due to the existence of a significant and positive linear relationship. The findings suggest that this study implies that destination countries should create good labour market legislation to reduce the number of unemployed among both migrants and the native-born population. As very few studies have investigated gender differences in migration, this study gives a different perspective on the subject by comparing the same-gender relationship in the nativity status of the labour market.

Dátum:2021
ISSN:2075-5309
Megjegyzések:Materials are continuously accumulating in the human-built environment since massive amounts of materials are required for building, developing, and maintaining cities. At the end of their life cycles, these materials are considered valuable sources of secondary materials. The increasing construction and demolition waste released from aging stock each year make up the heaviest, most voluminous waste outflow, presenting challenges and opportunities. These material stocks should be utilized and exploited since the reuse and recycling of construction materials would positively impact the natural environment and resource efficiency, leading to sustainable cities within a grander scheme of a circular economy. The exploitation of material stock is known as urban mining. In order to make these materials accessible for future mining, material quantities need to be estimated and extrapolated to regional levels. This demanding task requires a vast knowledge of the existing building stock, which can only be obtained through labor-intensive, time-consuming methodologies or new technologies, such as building information modeling (BIM), geographic information systems (GISs), artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning. This review paper gives a general overview of the literature body and tracks the evolution of this research field.

Megjegyzések:Language and quality education play an important role in enhancing the development of regions and economies. Education systems and language policies implemented by different countries depend upon their individual political, cultural, historic, and economic characteristics. However, it is important for each country to achieve a degree of harmony between their education and language policies (as is the case of Singapore and Ireland). This could help to improve their economic performance and accelerate the wheels of development. To investigate the impact of quality education and language on different regions and economies, this study used panel data from 99 non-English speaking economies during 2009?2017 period. Following the approach of Barro (1991) and Mankiw et al. (1992), a baseline model was augmented (Augmented Solow model) to include language and quality education indicators. In addition, the model was estimated using the Two-step system GMM test. The test also determined which variables could have a long-term impact on the development of the listed panel data (using STATA 15 software). The findings and estimations reveal that language and quality education have a positive impact on the regions and their economic growth. The impact of primary education quality is more significant than the impact of secondary education quality, while the impact of the English language on the development process is positive but not significant. The policy implications are that decision makers should adopt language policies which complement the education system and the economic strategy of the country.

Megjegyzések:Cultural diversity is generally a controversial topic in the literature. While some studies have proved that it provides economic benefits, others have denied this claim. However, the costs associated with this may be avoided by improving each of intercultural competency at the business level and social tolerance at the economy level. For this purpose, the study used a literature review analysis. Based on the literature, cultural diversity plays important role in enhancing innovation and entrepreneurship which are necessary for economic development. However, it may result in different challenges such as a lack of trust and conflict. Therefore, it could be feasible to manage and benefit from cultural diversity in the companies through cross-cultural training as well as cultural diversity management. On the other hand, economies can avoid cultural diversity's costs by adopting the policies and institutions which are necessary for enhancing the level of social tolerance among people.
