Megjegyzések:Barkhausen noise properties of amorphous and nanocrystallized FINEMET type soft magnetic materials are investigated. It is obtained that the amorphous-nanocrystalline tranformation has a well observable effect on both the root main square, RMS, values and the critical exponents of the probability distributions of peak heights and durations.

Megjegyzések:Possible origins of diffusional stress-free strains and their effects on interdiffusion are treated. Experimental examples of such stress effects (change of the growth rate, bending, failure of wires with coatings, stabilization of multilayers) are exposed and explained. Results of computer simulations, carried out on the basis of Stephenson's coupled equations, are also presented. It is shown that both the "gradient" (the presence of a new term proportional to the stress gradient) and "mobility" (the pressure dependence of the diffusion coefficients) effects can be important. Special features of the above phenomena on nanometre length scale are also considered.

Megjegyzések:Grain boundary (GB) diffusion and segregation in nanostructured materials is analysed taking into account the low thermal stability and the large portion of atoms presented in short circuits. Since two other chapters of this book are devoted to the bulk nanocrystalline as well as to the compacted and sintered nanocrystalline alloys, we mainly focused on measurements performed in nanolayered materials of which potential application is in effect in the area of high temperature applications. Important features relative to the theoretical background of GB diffusion were first developed; then we sketched different experimental requirements to measure GB diffusion. Finally we detailed what are the parameters obtained using the Hwang-Balluffi accumulation technique especially well adapted to measurements in nanolayered materials and discussed the existing data in the literature.

Megjegyzések:Thirty years ago, Lagues and Domange [1] studying dissolution and segregation kinetics, introduced the s urface local equilibrium hypothesis. This hypothesis is based on the idea that the kinetics (diffusion) is faster in the near surface region (selvedge) than in the bulk and thus it can be assumed that the atoms just below the selvedge can be in equilibrium with the atoms of the deposit. In this contribution, based on our recent work [2], using three dimensional kinetic Monte Carlo (KMC) and one dimensional kinetic mean filed (KMF) models, we show that the local equilibrium can be violated even in simple cases when complex surface phenomena (defects, relaxation, size effects, etc.) are not taken into account. Furthermore we illustrate that, even if the above hypothesis is obeyed, the determination of the surface segregation isotherms from kinetics can lead to uncertain result because of the restricted validity of Fick's first equation on the nanoscale.
