Megjegyzések:	For small and medium-sized enterprises the identification of sources of risk is a decisive factor from a strategic perspective. The importance of risks, the differences between countries and the economic and financial impact of risks should be taken into account when planning the internal and external business processes of companies. The main objective of this study is to assess the sources of the economic and financial risks faced by small and medium-sized enterprises in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia (V4) and Serbia, taking into account the environmental factors of the countries examined. We conducted a questionnaire-based survey on the concept of risk management and the importance of risk among 1905 small and medium-sized enterprises in the five countries surveyed. To test the hypotheses formulated during the research, we used a contingency table, a Z-value test and other statistical tools. Finally, we identified the differences between the Visegrad Four and Serbia. The results of the research highlight the most common sources of risk for companies in the countries under study and the differences that can be identified between them.
