Cím:Examination of zinc and iron mobilization with acid treatments and the metal content of maize and stinging nettle in the active floodplain of the River Tisza / Gyöngyi Gosztonyi, Mihály Braun, József Prokisch, Szilárd Szabó
Dátum:2011
Megjegyzések:n this paper the mobilization of zinc and iron was studied in soil samples from the Boroszló-kert Dead-Tisza region. Besides the determination of the soil characterizations, the effects of different acid treatments on the metal mobilization were examined with nitric acid in five concentrations and with three extraction times. HNO3+H2O2 digestion and NH4-acetate + EDTA extraction were also carried out. Moreover, the metal uptake of two plant species (Zea mays from ploughlands, and Urtica dioica L. from orchards) was also studied. The decrease of pH caused significant metal mobilization, and the change of the pH is closely related to the soil properties, especially to the granulometric composition. Fe was less mobilizable than Zn. More metal was mobilized from the samples derived from ploughlands, and maize accumulated more Zn and Fe. However, the samples of ploughlands contained more CaCO3 than the samples from orchards.

Cím:Measure of heavy metal load in the floodplain of the River Tisza / Szabó Sz., Gosztonyi Gy., Prokisch J.
Dátum:2010
Megjegyzések:The quality of the River Tisza is significantly influenced by the industrial activity of Ukraine and Romania. The main problem is the heavy metal pollution which can be in dissolved form in the wa-ter or attached to colloidal particles in the sediments. In this paper an investigation of soil samples taken from the floodplain of the river was carried out. Surface samples were collected and profiles were cre-ated. As, Cd, Co, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn concentrations were determined. The results show significant and continuous heavy metal load. ANOVA test was carried out and the metal concentration in the upper layer of the active floodplain is proved to be considerably higher than in the reclaimed side. Regarding copper and zinc, in addition to the total metal content, their percentage available for plants (Cu and Zn percentages measured in the Lakanen-Erviö solution) is also more in the active floodplain than in the re-claimed side (copper: 27%, zinc: 47%). Discriminance analysis can identify the location of the soil sam-ples (correlate to the levee) with 92% accuracy. Soil profile shows increased heavy metal loads in the top layer of the soil and proved that the accident in 2000 was not the only pollution occurrence. Based on the results we came to the conclusion that the pollution comes constantly with the sediments from the over arm of the River Tisza and its tributaries.

Cím:Heavy metal content of flood sediments and plants near the river Tisza / Szilárd Szabó, József Posta, Gyöngyi Gosztonyi, Ilona Mészáros, József Prokisch
Dátum:2008
Megjegyzések:The River Tisza is Hungary's especially important river. It is significant not only because of the source of energy and the value insured by water (hydraulical power, shipping route, stock of fish, aquatic environment etc.) but the active floodplain between levees as well. Ploughlands, orchards, pastures, forests and oxbow lakes can be found here. They play a significant role in the life of the people living near the river and depend considerably on the quality of the sediments settled by the river. Several sources of pollution can be found in the catchment area of the River Tisza and some of them significantly contribute to the pollution of the river and its active floodplain. In this paper we study the concentration of zinc, copper, nickel and cobalt in sediments settled in the active floodplain and the ratio of these metals taken up by plants. Furthermore, our aim was to study the vertical distribution of these elements by the examination of soil profiles. The metal content of the studied area does not exceed the critical contamination level, except in the case of nickel, and the ratio of metals taken up by plants does not endanger the living organisms. The vertical distribution of metals in the soil is heterogeneous, depending on the ratio of pollution coming from abroad and the quality of flood.
