This meeting will try to review the concepts of epigenetics, the current state of the research in this field and the research methods of the field. Beside this we plan to be a meeting forum for the researchers and clinicians who are studying or planning to study topics in the field of epigenetics. We plan to put forward those topics that deal mainly with the covalent modifications of the chromatin (DNA methylation and histone tail modifications) and their consequences especially those that define the transcriptional possibilities of a cell in a specific chromatin context. Please join us at the meeting! We encourage everybody to submit an abstract. The results can be presented on posters or by talks, most of which will be selected from the submitted abstracts. The conference is organized by Tamás Arányi (RCNS, HAS, Hungary), Bálint L. Bálint (University of Debrecen, Hungary), Petra Hajkova (MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences, UK), J. Andrew Pospisilik (Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics, Germany) and Laszlo Tora (IGBMC, France). The main objectives are to bring scientists together from the fields of epigenetics and promote intensive interdisciplinary interactions facilitated by the medium sized meeting. Therefore the conference program is structured to have a lot of networking opportunity. We expect to have 150 participants including 20 outstanding invited lecturers (please find here the list of confirmed speakers including the IUBMB Keynote speaker). We also plan to select several short talks from the submitted abstracts. I sincerely hope that you will find this invitation interesting and will decide to participate.

Megjegyzések:	You are cordially invited to the first Hungarian Epigenetics Conference to be held at the Theoretical Block of Semmelweis University, Nagyvárad Square, on 20-21 September 2012. The aim of the conference is to build links between researchers and clinicians interested in epigenetics and gene expression regulation and to facilitate the flow of information. Our aim is to attract leading researchers, both national and international, to present the state of the art in the field and the available methodologies. We have a clear intention to promote the rapid application of results by strengthening the links between basic and clinical research. The conference will focus on a wide range of issues, in particular on covalent modifications at the chromatin level (DNA and histone modifications) and their effects. The following speakers have so far accepted our invitation: Imre Boros University of Szeged, Hungary Peter Holland University of Oxford, Great Britain Takuya Imamura Kyoto University, Japan László Nagy University of Debrecen, Hungary András Páldi Généthon, France Jannis Talianidis BSRC, Vari, Greece László Tora IGBMC, Strasbourg, France The other speakers will be selected by the scientific organising committee on the basis of the abstracts submitted. The conference language will be English. A gala dinner will follow the 20 poster session on the 20th. Deadline for abstract submission: 6 September.
