Megjegyzések:A Tisza évente többször is kilép a medréből és elárasztja a töltésen belüli területeket, s ezzel a hullámtéri holtmedreket is feltölti, vizüket megújítja. The Tisza river floods areas between dams several times a year, and with this it fills the oxbow lakes on the flood-plain and changes their water. However the water addition of the oxbow lakes takes place not only by floods but it is probable that water can seep under the surface through the gravelled layers of the old river beds, and precipitation can alsó play a role. Our goal with this work is to get a quite overall picture of the state and water addition of the oxbow lakes in UpperTisza Region. Water samples from the Tisza river and the oxbow lakes between Tiszabecs and Tokaj were examined with isotope analytical method. We can get picture of the origin and the state of the waters with the help of stable isotopes. During processing the question was that how the oxbow lakes can be sorted according to their water addition on the basis of their stable isotope ratios.

Cím:Seasonal evaporation cycle in oxbow lakes formed along the Tisza River in Hungary for flood control / Babka Beáta, Futó István, Szabó Szilárd
Dátum:2018
ISSN:0885-6087
Megjegyzések:As a result of water regulation, dykes (i.e., embankments against floods) were constructed along the Tisza River and meanders were cut to control the floods in the region. These cut-off meanders resulted in oxbow lakes that are important locations for nature conservation. We collected water samples over 5 years in 7 campaigns to measure the delta O-18 (parts per thousand) and delta H-2 (parts per thousand) ratios in 45 oxbow lakes from the Upper Tisza Region (NE-Hungary). We applied Random Forest Regression involving climatic data to reveal the connection with the stable isotopes. We determined that isotope ratios changed as a function of time, due to evaporation and a varying water supply (precipitation and groundwater). The average difference in the isotopic ratios for the river and oxbows increased from spring to winter, but decreased between the oxbows on both sides of the dyke. We found that isotope ratios were determined by the maximum monthly temperature in the case of oxbows in the active floodplain, whereas in case of oxbows on the reclaimed side, this was also influenced by the maximum monthly temperature, and the cumulative evaporation. As direct measurement of evaporation is difficult to evaluate, stable isotope measurements provided an effective quantitative alternative to estimate evaporation. Measuring the seasonality of the delta O-18 and delta H-2 is important to interpret the results and these data are useful to water management experts to identify the lakes at risk of running dry.

Cím:Clustering oxbow lakes in the Upper-Tisza Region on the basis of stable isotope measurements / Beáta Babka, István Futó, Szilárd Szabó
Dátum:2011
ISSN:0022-1694
Megjegyzések:Several times a year the River Tisza floods areas between dikes, fills the oxbow lakes on the floodplain and changes their water. However the water addition in the oxbow lakes does not only take place through flooding; it is also likely that water can seep under the surface through the gravelled layers of the old river-beds, and furthermore, precipitation also plays a role. Our goal with this study is to acquire a full, comprehensive picture of the water addition of the oxbow lakes in the Upper-Tisza Region. Surface and groundwater samples were taken from the River Tisza, the oxbow lakes and the boreholes around four oxbow lakes, and stabile isotope ratios were measured. We can get information on the origin, the evaporation and the state of the waters, and the depth of the water table with the help of 18OVSMOW (%) and DVSMOW (%). During the examination the question we addressed was how oxbow lakes can be classified according to their water addition on the basis of their stable isotope ratios. The results from the Tisza and the oxbow lakes, as well as the results from the oxbow lakes on the reclaimed side and the floodplain are also isolated
