Megjegyzések:An experiment conducted using factorial based on randomized completely block design during 2005 and 2006. Flowers of Érdi bőtermő, Érdi jubileum and Cigány meggy before anthesis and in balloon stages were isolated with paper bags from guest pollens and pollinated in appropriate time. The averages of final fruit set showed the advantage of open pollination (14.6% fruit set) in compare with artificial self pollination (13.0% fruit set) and natural self pollination (4.4% fruit set). Siah mashhad sweet cherry cultivar with more than 70% overlap of flowering and 9.8% fruit set in 2005 and 17.9% in 2006 was the best among applied pollinisers for Érdi bőtermő sour cherry cultivar. Also, Siah mashhad sweet cherry with more than 50% overlap of flowering time and 25.8% fruit set was the best polliniser for Cigány meggy. Among the pollinisers, Siah mashhad was the best for Érdi jubileum with more than 50% overlap and 15.22% fruit set. Meanwhile, pollens of Siah mashhad caused the increase of fruit size in Cigány meggy cultivar. phenomenon. Pollens of Siah mashhad caused reduction in total soluble solids of Érdi bőtermő fruits, however, it does not have any significant effect on the acid rate of fruits.

Megjegyzések:We evaluated 285 pear genotypes (commercial cultivars, ancient local varieties, unnamed local strains, seedlings, wild seedlings) in the largest gene bank of pear in Hungary from the point of view of psylla resistance to explore their possible exploitation in organic farming. We have found some 10 new resistant types (Bókoló körte, Bőtermő Kálmán, Füge alakú körte, Nagyasszony körte, Nyári Kálmán, Rozs nyári körte, Viki körte, Pb-242, Pb-299, 0-632) and 7 highly tolerant ones (Cure-6, Kései Kálmán, Kieffer, Kieffer Éd, Steiner, Téli Kálmán, II. B-3-6/4, 96-16/5) (Table 1). These made up 3.5 + 2.8 per cent of the investigated genotypes, while 93.7 per cent of them were susceptible to pear psylla damage. Taking earlier and present results into account we can list more than 30 European pear cultivars being resistant or highly tolerant to pear psylla infestation and damage. In fact, the list of resistant and highly tolerant cultivars may serve as a basis selecting pear cultivars fitting to the specific requirements of the organic farming. By the end we can conclude that there is some real hope to exploit some resistant or highly tolerant ancient or local cultivars in organic farming but further investigations are needed to estimate their yield capacity and fruit quality.

Megjegyzések:During a four yeas long experiment a simple bee shelters was found to be a proper method to increase the size of mixed natural populations of the early season Osmia cornuta and O. rufa under practical farm conditions. Instead of the number of pesticide applications the earliness of the flowering of the fruit species in the orchards was found to be the most important factor in the rate of acceptance of reed as nesting medium by Osmias in the bee shelter. This relationship was negative and highly significant (r = ?0.829, p<0.001). This means that much higher acceptance of artificial nesting media in bee shelters and consequently much higher population increase of the two early season mason bee species can be expected in orchards with early than with late flowering fruit species. Mixed orchards or early flowering orchards surrounded by other orchards falling in bloom later consecutively may also be much favourable to mason bees because they can find continuous food (pollen) supply there for a much longer time during their period of activity than in orchards planted with a single fruit species and being apart from orchards of other fruit species.

Megjegyzések:The heavy metals pollution is one of the problems that arise due to the increased uses of fertilizers and other chemicals to meet the higher demands of food production for human consumption. In order to assess possible health risk of apricot (Prunus armeniaca L.) consumption, levels of Arsenic, Cadmium, Mercury and Lead were determined in fresh and dried samples of "Jumbo cot", "Tom cot", "Gold strike", "Gold bar", "Bergeron", "Bergarouge", "Sweet cot", "Yellow cot" and "Zebra" apricot cultivars. Wet digestion of samples with concentrate HNO3 ? H2O2 digester mixture and inductively coupled plasma?atomic emission spectroscopy was used. Highest content of As, Cd, Hg and Pb among all cultivars, were 0.5, 0.04, 1.5 and 0.5mg/kg of dried apricot samples. Fresh fruit samples also contain 0.2, 0.016, 0.6 and 0.2 mg/kg of Arsenic, Cadmium, Mercury and Lead respectively. Daily intake of metals, hazard quotient and health risk index to reveal health risk possibility of dried and fresh fruits consumption were calculate and compared.

Megjegyzések:Fruit set of five sour cherry cultivars (♭Újfehértói fürtös', ♭Éva', ♭Petri', ♭Pándy 279♭ and ♭Csengődi') of eight years-old trees grown in Újfehértó, located in the Eastern north part of Hungary have been studied over two years (2008 & 2009). Following reciprocally cross-pollination, free-pollination, self-pollination (autogamy) artificial self-pollination (geitonogamy) were studied. The results show that both maternal and paternal parent cultivates had significant effects on the percentage fruit set. Significant differences have been found in fruit set among years and among pollination treatments. Fruit set of free-pollinated Pándy 276 cultivar was low and seasonally highly variable. The yield of this cultivar on self-pollinated flowers was nearly 0%, and in this treatment the maximum yields did not reach 10% in any of the examined cultivars. There was no significant relationship in the fruit set of free-pollination and natural self-pollination treatments.

Megjegyzések:Between 2005 and 2007, the self- and free fertilization of 11 foreign apricot cultivars were studied. Among the studied cultivars, two were self-fertile: Z81 and Latecot. These two self-fertile cultivars showed a very high fruit set ratio (above 60%) via free pollination. The lowest fertilization levels (8?15%) were observed at cultivars with a genetically high fruit weight (Jumbocot, Toyesi). In cultivar associations, Toyesi and Robada proved to be a suitable pollinator for most cultivars, while Latecot, Jennycot and Z81 were good pollinators in certain combinations only.

Megjegyzések:Apple is the most important fruit in Hungary, despite of that, it is a paradox that during the last years, apple growing was the mostunsuccessful enterprise among the prosperous ones in the country. The real cause of regression was unequivocally the low price, which couldbe obtained and the inadequate structure of apple varieties. A heavy problem is still the overweight of the quality doomed to supplying theprocessing industry instead to the fresh consumption. In order to improve the conditions, we aimed the economic analysis of the five year longperiod, 2005-2009, to trace the changes involving values and costs of production, income and all conditions combined with this activity. Thedata presented in the paper are means of a heterogeneous population of values, which cannot be utilised for immediate use in management,but they may reveal the challenges and tendencies of that branch in economics
