Dátum:2019
Megjegyzések:During an Information Architecture course at our university, students designed and created a system of e-health environments as a set of an e-health promotion services developed for a library and prepared in MaxWhere 3D virtual reality spaces. They had to define the goals of their environments, the target groups, they had to organize the pieces of information for having an impact on their future users. During the design process, they had to use their knowledge about marketing, psychology, information architecture and library and informa-tion science. Here we present three environments that were designed for using them in an imaginary library in 2025. One of them could be applied in the library of the Institute of Sport Science as well as of the Faculty of Public Health. This huge environment contains various topics in this area. The student applied many media types, online services and designed applications that probably will exist in the near future. An important point of view was to provide useful, important, reliable and up-to-date information for the users of the target group. The overall goal of the research was to develop some cognitive skills of the students: inventive and innovative thinking. In this paper, we demonstrate some results of this research: the design and development of the e-Health Promotion VR service.

Megjegyzések:In recent years, virtual reality (VR) has been introduced into a special field of education at the Faculty of Informatics of the University of Debrecen, Hungary. We launched VR courses and created immersive VR environments to provide curricula for our students. Based on VR courses and available curricula, students can choose thesis topics in this field at the end of their BSc studies. During the thesis work, they have to design and create a thematic environment with an immersive VR software: the MaxWhere 3D platform. Students come to the thesis work with different prior VR experiences: Most of them encountered VR in a learning environment, i.e., they had university courses on VR or had and used curriculum in a VR environment. However, there are those who come to the thesis work without learning about VR, learned from games only about VR. Our assumption was that students in the 21st-century generation have a sense of "VR thinking" so they can seamlessly switch between the real and virtual 3D worlds. Experience has shown that this operation is not trivial for all of them. To determine the range of difficulties in thinking in VR and to explore the causes of the problems, we used the method of a personal interview survey among students. The survey found that students who did not encounter VR in an educational setting were much less able to think creatively in VR. The level of creative thinking in VR was also lower for those who had already played VR games anyway. To develop creativity in thinking about VR, we presented key information on the thesis work in a VR environment to students who plan to work in VR. Experience to date has shown positive effects in developing creative VR thinking. In this paper, we present our experiences concerning the students' thesis work on the use of VR as a framework as well as the results of the survey

Cím:Developing cognitive processes as a major goal in designing e-health information provider VR environment in information science education / Gyöngyi Bujdosó, Kata Boros, Cornelia Mihaela Novac, Ovidiu Constantin Novac
Dátum:2019
Megjegyzések:Information science has played an important role in computer science education in the last decades. The design of storing, retrieving and interacting with information is an obligatory part in development of numerous online services in our era. Therefore, many parts of information science are elementary components in the majors' curricula in computer science education. In this paper, we focus on a course on Information Architecture where students were introduced to the basics of information science. During the course, MaxWhere - an online virtual reality collaborative service - was used as a framework. In our research, our main goal was to develop the students' cognitive processes. The students' main task was to design and develop e-health services in virtual reality (VR) environment for impressing and persuading their future target audience to live a more environmentally conscious life or to live healthier. In this paper, we present some results of this experimental research: Students were motivated to create and design an inclusive project together that needed more work and knowledge from them than it had been planned. They were motivated to collaborate with their groupmates and a self-driven collaborative workflow was developed. They had to learn about the MaxWhere 3D VR system, and at the same time, they had to start to do research on their own projects. After a while, they found gaps in their designs that they wanted to fill in. As a consequence, the students had to deal with some theory and practice of marketing, e.g., they had to deal and work with buyer personas, with some other marketing aspects, and - of course - with some important parts of information science. They had to imagine their future customers and to develop VR environments for them that could have an impact on the users' behavior and lives. The design and development process resulted in and showed development in the students' cognitive processes.

Dátum:2019
Megjegyzések:Enhancing students' creativity is one of the most important tasks in higher education. This is even more important in teacher training. Pre-service teachers have to learn not only how to be creative but they should also know how to encourage their future students to be creative. For developing students' creativity, we started to use some disruptive IT tools some years ago: eye tracking and virtual reality (VR). In a paper, we presented the results of a survey where we used an eye tracker and an eye tracking survey's results for enhancing the students' creativity and motivation in teacher training. In this paper we deal with the results of an experiment performed in a teacher training course: In this survey, we used a method for enhancing the students' creativity by applying VR workspaces of the MaxWhere immersive VR system. The VR spaces had two roles in this method: 1 We used some VR environments for guiding the students through the course contents: the students could reach the course materials through these spaces. We offered collaborative methods for performing the courses' tasks, and for solving the problems and the homeworks during the courses. Students could collaborate through these spaces. These spaces demonstrated some techniques on how to use such a VR environment in a creative and collaborative way. 2 We provided a MaxWhere VR space as a "white and empty page" for the students that they had to fill with course materials and collaborative points. The students had to choose a project theme from their professions. Each student had to evolve a working area for their students in this MaxWhere VR space. They had to design how to motivate their students to be creative and to be collaborative. Our university students had to implement such a working space, fill it with digital learning materials for their students, where their future students could learn and work in almost a fully self-paced way and could use their creative skills. In this research, we examined how the students can leave the clichés behind and can be creative in their tasks and in their working environment designs. Our experiences, the most positive outcomes, and some of the problems that have arisen are to be presented here.

Megjegyzések:Computer Sciences (CS) require inventive thinkingfrom computer science experts. CS education has to pay attentionon that field of education, too. Universities have to educateprogrammers for the future where the CS experts need the mostimportant skills of creativity, invention and innovation. Theseskills can be developed by using virtual reality. In this paper wedeal with those techniques that we used for developing thestudents' skills on creativity and invention. We supposed that theability to spatially organize learning materials and workingdocuments and collaborative spaces may stimulate creativethinking. In this method we applied the MaxWhere, an immersivevirtual reality (iVR) system that gives wide range of possibilitiesfor cooperative and collaborative work. This iVR system providesmany means that can be used for activating cognitive processesand improving inventive thinking. This method provided positiveresults.

Dátum:2020
Megjegyzések:This paper presents different PHP-based frameworks used for building robust, enterprise-level web applications. The paper focuses on the main features of the two frameworks, and then analyze some of the advantages and disadvantages of using each of them. DotKernel is a custom concept built by Apidemia, mainly used internally but present in the open-source environment. It is a collection of middleware applications built on top of the Zend Expressive microframework, implementing customized versions of some of the Zend Framework components. Symfony is also a concept consisting of a web application framework, a set of reusable, heavily used PHP components, and a community sharing a common philosophy.
