Megjegyzések:The marigold extracts are used in traditional medicine for its anti-inflammatory, decongestive, antiseptic, antifungal, antimicrobial and immunostimulating properties. Existing studies have partially proved these properties, but are incomplete with regard to the possibility of standardizing the extract using the best working conditions so as it to be included in dietary supplements. The purpose of this study is to investigate the chemical composition of the marigold extracts, their contents in flavonoids and polyphenolic compounds, as well as to determine the contents in oligoelements of the plant material through the ICP-OES method. Based on the results of this study we conclude that a complete extraction may be accomplished after lyophilizing the solution of hydroalcoholic extract, followed by extraction in acid medium so as to permit a better assessment of the bioactive compounds.

Megjegyzések:In many European countries, including Romania, the statutory regulation of herbal products as medicines has led pharmaceutical companies to orient themselves towards the production of herbal medicines. In this paper we determined the metal content of certain phytochemical products produced by a Romanian company. The medicinal plants are cultivated by the company producing the phytochemicals on large areas and even in organic farming system. An acid-assisted microwave digestion procedure is optimized for the determination of metals in the products analyzed by the use of Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry techniques. Thus, the analysis of the content of six types of capsules determined that they contain a lot of chemicals, metals like calcium, potassium, sodium, magnesium, zinc, strontium, manganese. The analysis also determined that the capsules contain toxic elements (Cd, As, Cr, Mo), but which are present in small quantities, within the toxicity limits stipulated by the law.

Megjegyzések:In this work, we investigated the mineral profile, the bioactive compounds (phenols, flavonoids) content and the antioxidant capacity of wild blueberries and their pharmaceutical preparations (tea, alcoholic extract and capsules). The highest content of phenols and flavonoids was recorded in the alcoholic sample (813.42 ? 15.55 mg GAE- gallic acid equivalent/100 g and 1425.44 ? 1.94 mg QE- quercetin equivalent/100 g), and the highest antioxidant capacity was recorded in fresh blueberries and in the tea derived from these fruits. The mineral elements composition analysis revealed high contents of manganese (8.7956 mg/kg) in the fresh fruits and the antioxidant capacity was strongly linked to the phenols and flavonoid content, as to the content of metals like Zn, Mn and Cu. Our results obtained in this study indicated that the pharmaceutical preparations derived from blueberry have antioxidant potential and high concentrations of bioactive compounds.
