Cím:Kinetics of Uncatalyzed Reactions of 2,4'- and 4,4'-Diphenylmethane-Diisocyanate with Primary and Secondary Alcohols / Lajos Nagy, Tibor Nagy, Ákos Kuki, Mihály Purgel, Miklós Zsuga, Sándor Kéki
Dátum:2017
ISSN:0538-8066
Megjegyzések:The kinetics of the uncatalyzed reaction of an industrially important 50/50blend of isomers of 4,4·-diphenylmethane-diisocyanate (4,4-MDI) and 2,4·-diphenylmethane-diisocyanate (2,4·-MDI) with primary and secondary alcohols was studied using high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with photodiode array detector. The alcoholssuch as 1-propanol, 2-propanol, 1-hexanol, 2-hexanol, 3-hexanol, 1-methoxy-2-propanol, and3-methoxy-1-propanol were used in high molar excess to diisocyanate in toluene at 80?C, andpseudo?first-order dependences on the concentrations of 4,4·-MDI and 2,4·-MDI were found.Appropriate treatments of the kinetic data allowed us to determine the corresponding pseudo?first-order rate constants. According to the kinetic results, the reactivity of the isocyanate groupin the para-position is about four to six times higher than that of the ortho-positioned iso-cyanate group, depending on the reacting alcohol. Furthermore, the substitution effect, i.e.,change in the reactivity of the free isocyanate group after the other has been reacted, was foundfor both 4,4·-MDI and 2,4·-MDI isomers. The differences in the reactivities of the isocyanategroups of 2,4·-MDI and 4,4·-MDI isomers before and after one of two isocyanate groups hasbeen reacted are explained in terms of partial positive charges on the corresponding carbonylcarbon atom calculated by high-level quantum chemical calculations. In addition, the UV-spectral properties of the products obtained by quenching the reactionmixture with methanol are also discussed in light of practical implications.

Megjegyzések:Polyisobutylenes (PIBs) with different end-groups including chlorine, exoolefin, hydroxyl, and methyl prepared from aliphatic and aromatic initiators werestudied by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS). Independently ofthe end-groups, presence or absence of aromatic initiator moiety, these PIB derivativeswere capable of forming adduct ions with NO3? and Cl? ions, thus allowing thedirect characterization of these compounds in the negative ion mode of ESI-MS. Toobtain [PIB + NO3]? and [PIB + Cl]? adduct ions with appreciable intensities, additionof polar solvents such as acetone, 2-propanol, or ethanol to the dichloromethanesolution of PIBs was necessary. Furthermore, increasing both the polarity (by increasingthe acetone content) and the ion-source temperature give rise to enhancedintensities for both [PIB + NO3]? and [PIB + Cl]? ions. Energy-dependent collision induced dissociation studies(CID) revealed that increasing the collision voltages resulted in the shift of the apparent molecular masses tohigher ones. CID studies also showed that dissociation of the [PIB + Cl]? ions requires higher collision energythan that of [PIB + NO3]?. In addition, Density Functional Theory calculations were performed to gain insights intothe nature of the interactions between the highly non-polar PIB chains and anions NO3? and Cl? as well as todetermine the zero-point corrected electronic energies for the formation of [PIB + NO3]? and [PIB + Cl]? adductions.

Dátum:2016
ISSN:0143-7208
Megjegyzések:The optical and biolabeling properties of a novel molecule 1-(2-acryloyloxy-3-chloro-prop-1-yl)-amino-5-isocyanonaphthalene (ACAIN) is reported. In addition to being a real solvatochromic fluorophore it reacts quantitatively and rapidly with simple thiols in a thiol-ene click reaction. DFT calculations revealed a dark nonfluorescent state of ACAIN due to a close energy triplet state where electron transition can happen between the acrylic double bond and the aromatic core through an intramolecular hydrogen bond between the NH and CO moieties. The hydrothiolation reaction is accompanied by a 1.5?19 fold increase in fluorescence intensity depending on the solvent used owing to the saturation of the acrylic group. The quantum yield and reactivity of the molecules were found to be largely dependent on the substituent of the acryl moiety.

Cím:Chiral differentiation of the noscapine and hydrastine stereoisomers by electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry / Tibor Nagy, Ákos Kuki, Borbála Antal, Lajos Nagy, Mihály Purgel, Attila Sipos, Miklós Nagy, Miklós Zsuga, Sándor Kéki
Dátum:2015

Megjegyzések:Energy dependent collision-induced dissociation (CID) of the dimers [2M+Cat]+ of the noscapine and hydrastine stereoisomers was studied where Cat stands for Li+, Na+, K+ and Cs+ ions. These dimers were generated "in situ" from the electrosprayed solution. The survival yield (SY) method was used for distinguishing the noscapine and hydrastine dimers. Significant differences were found between the characteristic collision energies (CE50, i.e. the collision energy necessary to obtain 50% fragmentation) of the homo- (R,R; S,S) and heterochiral (R,S; S,R) stereoisomers. To distinguish the enantiomer pairs L-, D-tyrosine ([M+Tyr+Cat]+) and L-, D-lysine ([M+Lys+Cat]+) were used as chiral selectors. Furthermore, these heterodimers [M+amino acid+Cat]+ were also applied to determine the stereoisomeric composition. It was found that the characteristic collision energy (CE50) of the noscapine and hydrastine homodimers ([2M+Cat]+) was inversely proportional to the ionic radius of the cations. Furthermore, the structures of the dimers [2M+Cat]+ were studied by high level quantum chemical calculations.
