Cím:Deconstructing Attitudes towards Immigrant Workers among Hungarian Employees and Higher Education Students / Dajnoki Krisztina, Máté Domician, Fenyves Veronika, Kun András
Dátum:2017
ISSN:2071-1050
Megjegyzések:To preserve economic and social sustainability, countries impacted by internationalmigration must prepare for the challenges that influx will bring to their societies, whether it beto their labor markets or their local, regional and national cultures. In essence, all areas of public lifemay be affected. Therefore, the exploration and recognition of the factors influencing integration, aswell as the correlations behind attitudes of acceptance or rejection of the integration of immigrants, are essential. The present study contributes to the results in this field by revealing the beliefsbehind the differences between groups accepting and rejecting immigrants, using a questionnairedatabase. Our survey sample consists of 444 Hungarian university students and 170 employees. The primary method of data analysis is binary logistic regression, completed by bivariate analyses. Our findings confirm that a positive, accepting attitude towards immigrants is more probableif an image is formed of them as being hardworking and that the work they do contributes tothe economic development of the host country. Moreover, the integration of such individualsshould not be seen as resulting in any unfavorable change in criminal statistics, working conditions, unemployment or discrimination. Additionally, the acceptance of immigrants as colleagues mightbe facilitated - in addition to their higher qualifications?by domestic (i.e., Hungarian) employeesbeing better informed about immigration, and if immigrants occupy positions in which domesticemployees are not willing to work.

Cím:Examination of the solvency of enterprises dealing with accommodation service providing in the northern Great Plain region / Veronika Fenyves, Krisztina Dajnoki, Domícián Máté, Baji-Gál Kata
Dátum:2016
Megjegyzések:One of the most important characteristics of tourism, as an economic and social phenomenon is that it has become a leading sector of the Hungarian economy. The importance of this sector is faithfully reflected by the fact that tourism gives nearly 9% of the GDP. Of course, aim of the enterprises of this type is the liquidity as well i.e. to maintain the short-term solvency that is essential for the long-term successful and smooth operation. The other aim of enterprises is to be solvent for the long-term as well, furthermore, to increase the corporate value and to maximize the ownership value. In our treatise, we have carried out the financial analysis and bankruptcy prediction of those enterprises providing accommodation service which are the biggest from the point of view of employment in the Northern Great Plain region. We think that, due to seasonality, even greater emphasis shall be placed on this area where useful information can be obtained from and the results of bankruptcy model can also provide further useful information and "problem alerts".

Cím:Fraud detection by testing the conformity to benford's law in the case of wholesale enterprises / Máté D., Sadaf R., Tarnóczi T., Fenyves V.
Dátum:2017
ISSN:2081-7452
Megjegyzések:he latest international crisis of the financial markets highlights the risks of instability, and the consequences of financial crime have a considerable effect on the performance of enterprises. The manipulation of selling prices or elements of financial statements even contribute to economic and social conflict in certain countries. The purpose of this study is to explore whether the conformity to Benford's law of forensic accounting data is sustainable in the case of wholesale trade enterprises in the examined (2009-2015) period and Hungarian region. Our research aims to test various elementary and advanced (goodness-of-fit) statistical techniques to assess the validity of the reported statements. Overall, after examining the deviations in reflected and expected frequencies we assert the non-conformity of this law in some cases. However, our motivation is not only to suggest applied recommendations to enhance accountability for entrepreneurships, but also to outline further research directions to improve the forensic fraud detection and better understanding of accountancy crimes for the management.

Dátum:2016
Megjegyzések:For a long time, employment researches of regional innovation have basically concentrated on manufacturing industries - in particular on high-tech branches -, while the service sectors performance were considered in detail. However, over the last decades, both scientists and policymakers were more interested in knowledge-intensive business services (KIBS). This paper also relies on the empirical investigation of labour performance in several Carpathian countries. In the context of spatial patterns and gender gap, the regional employment growth dynamics are also examined in KIBS branches. The results of our analyses show that KIBS employment is particularly higher in central and northern Europe, the female employment shares are also higher than in most of the examined countries, and the knowledge-intensive services regionally are mainly concentrated in Hungary in Közép-Magyarország. Hence, these conclusions can also highlight that some reforms are needed to change the current policy implications.

Cím:The Impacts of Trademarks and Patents on Labour Productivity in the Knowledge-Intensive Business Service Sectors / Domicián Máté, András István Kun, Veronika Fenyves
Dátum:2016

Megjegyzések:The economic and social roles of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) are among the most puzzling mysteries of the current literature. The British Industrial Revolution initiate the era of a sustained economic growth all over the word and established institutions that have important effects even in the modern ages. This paper focuses on the determinants of labour productivity growth performance (in terms of the change in output per capita over time) of several OECD countries. In this conceptual framework several IPRs, such as trademarks and patents, are first analyzed in the context of knowledge intensive (business) service (hereafter KI(B)S) branches. In order to support both theoretical deductions and empirical findings of the literature a dynamic regression model is tested to clarify whether a valid relationship exists between output per capita and the number of patents and trademarks in the long run. The results of the regression analysis show that an increase in the number of trademarks and patents might correlate negatively with labour productivity growth in KI(B)S industries between 1995 and 2011. Hence, this conclusion also highlights that some institutional reforms are needed to change the current intellectual property right systems.
