Megjegyzések:The examination of new soil use methods started in 1997, at the University of Debrecen CAAES RISF Karcag Research Institute. Our goal was to prevent and reduce the soil degradation processes in Karcag. A lot of areas in this microregion are occupied by the "minute soils", which can be characterized by a very short period for optimal cultivation due to their unfavourable hydrological features and heavy texture. Any tillage operations applied out of this optimal period involve the risk of soil degrading effects. The cumulative effect of the past improper operations has resulted in formation of a physically degraded and dusty cultivated layer. The consequences of the structural degradation of the soil: unfavourable hydrological features, decreased nutrition supply capacity, moderated microbiological activity effects of soil protective cultivation technologies ? involving direct seeding and residue management ? on the soil, crop and economy of production are examined in a multiple long-term field experiment on a heavy textured soil. In lysimeters the correlation of water supply, soil moisture content and water use efficiency of crops was revealed too. We also measured the tractive power demand, the moisture content, the penetration resistance, and the CO2 emission of the soil in the two cultivation systems. It was established that the CO2-emission from the soil cultivated with the soil conservation technology was significantly higher in the most cases compared to conventional tillage system based on ploughing. Measuring CO2-emission, the most important (from agricultural point of view) characteristic of the soil can be directly quantified. According to the research achievements of the first sixteen years of the experiment the applied treatments have not always significantly influenced the yield of the indicator crop (winter wheat), but considerably decreased the energy consumption and costs of cultivation.

Cím:Multifunctionality and farm concentration in Hungary / R. Czimbalmos, Györgyi Kovács, A. Fehér
Dátum:2013
Megjegyzések:In Hungary the concentration of land areas took place between 2005 and 2009 in such a way that the arable land used by farms of less than 50 hectares declined, while that of larger farms increased. This process was more intensive in private farms. This was equivalent to the loss of 122 000 jobs in agricultural enterprises. In the European Union there was a reduction of 1 658 million Annual Work Unit (12.4%) in those employed in agriculture, between 2003 and 2007. This reduction was 9% in the EU-15 countries. In Hungary the decrease was 21% in terms of AWU per 100 hectares of agricultural land. This Hungarian process may be exacerbated by supports granted for the purchase of machinery aimed at improving competitiveness, since these payment schemes back up the endeavours of farmers to carry out all farm operations with their own machinery. They then need to utilise this increased capacity, but are unable to do so as other farmers also prefer to make their own investments. This unexploited machine capacity tends to influence both increases in farm size and, partly due to the latter and partly to the replacement of live labour, reductions in the number of employees. The proportion of payments made to aid machinery investments for conventional agricultural activities amounted to 13.2% of the resources available in the Hungarian national rural development programme between 2004 and 2006. During the 2007?2013 period 17.7% has been earmarked for this purpose. In order to discover farmer's motivation and reaction, our survey was carried out in 2008 involving 104 farmers in settlements belonging to three LEADER action groups located in Heves and Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok counties. On the surveyed farms there was a very modest proportion of market-driven, non-agricultural activities ensuring employment. The only really decisive elements of agricultural multifunctionality are heavily supported, non-market-driven activities and functions. Farmers intending to diversify did not consider diversification as a means of creating jobs for other people. Despite the tensions in their micro-regions due to unemployment, the need to introduce flexible forms of employment came near the bottom of their list of priorities. In response to another question, they clearly regard this as a task for the central government, and do not feel that they have any substantial role to play.

Cím:Effect of different compost doses on some properties of an extensive grassland soil / Kovács Györgyi, Tuba Géza, Czimbalmos Róbert, Csízi István
Dátum:2013
ISSN:2066-1843
Megjegyzések:After the millennium the utilization of the Hungarian grasslands is particularly important. We considered the efficient utilization of the agricultural areas - including grasslands, pastures- by increasing the number of ruminants is the part of the rural strategy. The effective utilization of the by-product, the manure in croplands or pastures is particularly important, taking the increasing fertilizer prices within the continuously opening price scissor of the industrial-agricultural products into account. The patent of the Karcag Research Institute of CAAES RISF UD, the TERRASOL compost is a good alternative fertilizer for farmers. We have already published the primary results of our grassland fertilization experiment, where we investigated the utilization of different compost doses and evaluated these from economic point of view. In this paper we examined the changes of the properties of the soil in the different treatments. We visualized our results by using GIS methods. We measured the moisture content, the penetration resistance and the CO2 emission of the soil of the four treatments. We determined that the 20 t/ha of compost dose was considered sufficient to improve the investigated properties of the grassland soils under the droughty conditions of 2012.
