Dátum:2008
Megjegyzések:The fragmentation and fragmentation behaviors of singly, doubly, and triply charged adducts of ciprofloxacin-poly(ethylene glycol) conjugate (P_Cf) with alkali metal ions, including Li+, Na+ and K+ ions, generated by electrospray (ESI) were studied as a function of collision energy. The product ion spectra of adducts with charge states +1, +2, and +3 are dominated by product ions arising from the loss-neutral moiety (ciprofloxacin) and CO2, and ions formed by dissociation of the precursor ion ([P_Cf+xM]x+) into product ions [P+(x-1)M](x-1)+ and [Cf+M]+ (where P_Cf, P and Cf represent the ciprofloxacin-poly(ethylene glycol) conjugate, the poly(ethylene glycol) backbone without the endgroups, and the ciprofloxacin moiety, respectively; M is the alkali metal ion and x is the charge). It was found that the metal ions do not significantly alter the fragmentation pattern of ciprofloxacin-poly(ethylene glycol) conjugate. It is also interesting that the run and the shape of the survival yield curves for the singly and doubly charged adduct ions are independent of the cation. However, in the case of triply charged adducts, survival yield curves follow each other in the order K+, Na+, and Li+. Based on the experimental results, a fragmentation mechanism for the singly and multiply charged adducts of P_Cf with alkali metal ions is given. In addition, a tentative description of the signal intensity variations of the product ions with the lab frame collision energy is also reported.

In-source collision induced dissociation (ISCID) of polyethylene glycol (PEG) and polypropylene glycol (PPG) cationized by alkali metal ions was studied as a function of the chain length and collision energy using electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI MS). The dissociation of the sodiated, potassiated and cesiated PEG and PPG yielded a neutral polyether and a cation without the formation of product ions resulting from the backbone cleavages. The survival yield (SY) method was applied to characterize the in-source fragmentation behavior of the cationized polyethers. The SY curves obtained by tandem MS/MS CID and in-source CID were compared. A remarkable difference was found, i.e. increasing the collision energy, the polyethers entirely dissociate in the collision cell, while the in-source SY plots level off at about 0.1-0.3. The finite SY values at large ISCID collision energies may suggest ion-molecule reactions in the ISCID region of the instrument. It was found that the characteristic ISCID50 collision energy corresponding to SY=0.5 was dependent linearly on the number of the repeat units, i.e., on the size of the polyethers.

Cím:Collision induced dissociation study of the major components of silymarin / Ákos Kuki, Bernadett Biri, Lajos Nagy, György Deák, József Kalmár, Attila Mándi, Miklós Nagy, Miklós Zsuga, Sándor Kéki
Dátum:2012
Megjegyzések:The fragmentation properties of the major silymarin constituents, including silydianin, silychristin A and B, silybin A and B and isosilybin A and B were studied by energy-dependent collision-induced dissociation (CID) technique. The survival yield (SY) method was applied to compare the fragmentation behavior of the various silymarin components. MS/MS spectra were recorded at collision energies which correspond to about 50% survival yield (CE50) and about 1% survival yield (CE01). The laboratory frame collision energy dependence of the fragmentation was studied on the basis of the breakdown curves, i.e., the relative intensities of fragment ions versus collision energy. The fragmentation of silybins and isosilybins is distinct in spite of the minimal difference between their structures. This phenomenon, which is the basis of their analytical identification, is explained in details for the first time, on the basis of the energydependent MS/MS experiments and the conformational analysis.

Cím:Fast identification of phthalic acid esters in poly(vinyl chloride) samples by Direct Analysis In Real Time (DART) tandem mass spectrometry / Ákos Kuki, Lajos Nagy, Miklós Zsuga, Sándor Kéki
Dátum:2011
ISSN:1387-3806
Megjegyzések:It was found that the collision energy/voltage necessary to obtain 50% fragmentation (CV50) was linearly dependent on the molecular weight of phthalic acid esters (PAEs). Based on this observation a fast screening technique for the detection of PAEs in Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) samples was developed using Direct Analysis in Real Time (DART) ionization tandem mass spectrometry. Based on this observation an automated data acquisition method, including mass-dependent tuning of the collision energy/voltage in DART-MS/MS, was developed thereby reducing the analysis time.
