Megjegyzések:	Only four authentic charters have survived in their original form from the 11th century, an era marking the beginning of Hungarian literacy. Due to the low number of authentic sources from this early period, the language material of those of uncertain authenticity (that have not survived in their original form and that are not authentic) should also be studied. Charters with an uncertain status cannot be analysed with the same methodological principles as the authentic and original charters. This paper discusses those special methodological principles that may facilitate the examination of the charters with an uncertain status and, based on these, draws conclusions in connection with the historical linguistic source value of the four forged charters (the charters of Bakonybél, Pécsvárad and two of Zalavár) of St. Stephen. ? 2023 Magyar Neprajzi Tarsasag. Megjegyzések:	Eleventh-century interpolated documents as sources of the history of Hungarian In this paper, I attempt to prove the value of interpolated documents, a special type of spurious documents, as linguistic sources, on the basis of the investigation of a document of early dating,the deed of foundation of Garamszentbenedek Abbey, from 1075. Indeed, negative consequences of the exclusion of spurious documents from linguistic research exponentially arise with respect to the earliest time of Hungarian document writing. I try to find out at which levels doctoring occurred in texts of interpolated documents, that is, what pieces of information were added to the document via interpolation. The separation of diverse types of interpolation from one another is of crucial importance also in the linguistic analysis of geographical names; if we study interpolated place names separately for various types of inserted text, rather than in a unified manner, then interpolations of diverse types may give us different clues for the use of names in historical linguistics and in historical onomatology.
