Cím:The Labour Status and Demoghraphic Characteristics of Migrants in a Regional Perspective / Domicián Máté, Imran Sarihasan
Dátum:2018
Megjegyzések:In spite of economic and other obstacles, millions of people have recently emigrated from one region to another for seeking better life conditions. Subsequently, the importance of this research area has been growing over time. Our analysis of this regional approach is based on OECD censuses, and its extended Database on Immigrants makes it possible to determinate the characteristics of immigration by their labor status. The main purpose of this research is to demonstrate the influence of educational attainments, age, gender and place of birth differences in a regional perspective. According to the results based on Binary Logistic (Logit) Regression models, educational attainment, age, sex and the place of birth of migrants related differently to their labour status and region of birth. Therefore, migration governance programs that aim to facilitate labor market integration of migrants should also take into consideration their regional characteristics in order to identify the best policy practices and to resolve the disparities in respect of their emerging problems.

Cím:The role of regional differences in immigration: the case of OECD countries / Máté D., Sarihasan I., Popp J., Oláh J.
Dátum:2018
ISSN:2071-789X
Megjegyzések:Despite physical, cultural, economic and other obstacles, millions of people have recently emigrated from one country to another in search of a better life. Consequently, the importance of this research topic has grown over time. Analysis of this regional approach is based on the OECD censuses, and its unique Database on Immigrants (DIOC), which makes it possible to generate a wide variety of cross-tabulations on the characteristics of asylum-seekers by the country of their birth. The aim of this study is to contribute to literature by analysing the role of regional differences in migration more closely in terms of the importance of migration regulation policies in the OECD countries. According to the results based on Binary Logistic (Logit) and Linear (OLS) Regression models, the educational attainment, age, sex and the place of birth of migrants are related in different ways to their region of origin. Moreover, male migrants are more skilled than females, migrants who are more educated are older than the less skilled, and foreign-born migrants seemed to be older than native-born migrants. There is also additional evidence suggesting that different regions and countries might follow different policies and norms for admission of migrants. Therefore, forthcoming migration governance programs that aim to facilitate the labour market integration of migrants should also take into consideration their regional characteristics

Cím:The Relations between Labour Market Institutions and Employment of Migrants. / Domicián Máté, Imran Sarihasan, Krisztina Dajnoki
Dátum:2017
ISSN:1582-9146 2247-9104
Megjegyzések:International migration is one the greatest challenges in the era of globalization and has become a focus of political debate in recent years. Although the economic effects of migration increase the efficiency of labour markets, some governments have rigorously rejected solutions proposed for the current refugee crisis. Meanwhile, immigration policies have recently become stricter in several OECD countries.Based on this conceptual framework, several labour market institutions, such as a minimum wage, unemployment benefits, union density, and active labour market policies etc., are analysed in the context of enhancing the employment of immigrants. In order to support the findings of literature this paper concentrates on the determinants of immigration tendencies and dynamic regression models analysed to clarify how these institutions can affect native- and foreign-born migrants. Hence, our results also highlight that various reforms need to enhance the efficiency of labour market migration policies

Cím:Female immigrant entrepreneurship: a contextual approach / Imran Sarihasan, Ádám Novotny, Natanya Meyer, Domicián Máté
Dátum:2024
ISSN:1476-1297
Megjegyzések:This study examines the relationship between female entrepreneurship, immigrant entrepreneurship, and the entrepreneurial context. The primary objective is to investigate the extent to which the host country's entrepreneurial context accounts for differences in the start-up rates of immigrant entrepreneurs. The lack of research on immigrant entrepreneurship makes it challenging to capture changes in this phenomenon. A quantitative approach using Global Entrepreneurship Monitor data was adopted to determine the relationship between women's/men's entrepreneurship parity ratios and the degree of immigrant entrepreneurship in different countries.
