Megjegyzések:	Alfalfa brown juice - a by-product of green biorefinery of fresh biomass - is rich in various biologically active compounds, such as vitamins, antioxidants, micro- and macroelements, bioregulators (e.g., trigonelline), and other phytochemicals (e.g., flavanones, flavanones, flavonols, and flavones), which are plant biostimulants/regulators. Alfalfa brown juice may represent the latest generation of organic biostimulants. Its value as a biostimulant is also supported by the presence of plant growth-promoting microorganisms and microorganisms used in the fermentation process of alfalfa brown juice, aiming to increase its stabilization and storage period. Several studies have illustrated the significance of alfalfa brown juice as a biostimulant, especially in low concentrations. Therefore it could substitute synthetic foliar fertilizers, enhancing plant growth, productivity, and product quality. The goal of this chapter is to make an overview of recent scientific information on the role of brown juice in plant growth and development. This chapter will highlight the history, production, and properties of alfalfa brown juice, as well as its role as a biostimulant in hydroponic and open-field experiments. Also, the possible utilization of alfalfa brown juice as a growth medium for microorganisms and future perspectives are discussed.
