Megjegyzések:	Although the study of assisted reproduction of mammals can be traced back to the 19th century and human research also began in the 1940s, but clinical application of the in vitro fertilization (IVF) was first successful in 1978 in England. Since then, assisted reproductive techniques (ART) made rapid progress and has become an accessible treatment for couples who have infertility problems. Nowadays it is one of the most important options for treatment of several types of male and female infertility, as well it is positioned as a treatment for unexplained infertility. While today it is widely accessible technique, as the time passes several complications are revealed both in women who had ART treatment and related to offspring who were born after ART. ART-derived infants have more preterm and low birth weight complications than spontaneous pregnancies. The number of children born after ART is increasing and their health condition is studied with particular interest. Long-term complications related to ART are also revealed such as increasing number of malformations, genetic disorders, metabolic and neoplastic problems in children. The aim of this review paper is to investigate the relationship between ART, perinatal outcome and offspring health status.
