Megjegyzések:	European catfish is a native, predatory fish species, which has a significant role in the Hungarian aquaculture. The demand of the consumers for market size fish is continuously growing, in order to expanding the production, the development of the catfish rearing in intensive systems is essential. In recent years, number of scientific paper were published regarding the intensive catfish rearing, however, lack of information are available in terms of the production technology and feeding aspects of larviculture. Therefore the aim of the recent study to investigate of the effects of illumination and feeding protocols on the efficiency of larval rearing. Two experiments were set up. In the first test the effect of lighting was investigated. Based on the results it can be concluded, that the final wet body weight and the homogeneity of catfish larvae were significantly higher (p<0.05) in groups, where the fish were kept in dark. In the second experiment, the effects of graduated illumination and the applied diet were also tested. The authors established, that catfish larvae can be acclimatized to the graduated illumination, as well as the production parameters were mostly affected by the applied diet. Significantly higher (p<0.05) survival and growth performance were observed in groups, where Artemia nauplii was used as a first feed of fish. Therefore, it can also concluded, that the use of living organisms is essential during the first days of larval rearing.
