Megjegyzések:Outdoor recreation has grown rapidly in recent years, with an increasing preference for areas in good ecological condition. Since lakes represent some of the most important wetlands, providing a wide variety of ecosystem services, they have become a very popular destination. The present study aimed to assess the water quality of the largest artificial lake in Hungary (Kiskore Reservoir-Lake Tisza), and the role of ecological status in tourism development. Monthly water sampling from the basins of the lake (Tiszavalk, Poroszlo, Sarud and Abadszalok basins) took place from April-November 2021 and in 2022. The majority of samples from the river section and from the lake are classified as Ca2+-HCO3- type or mixed Ca2+-Na+-HCO3- type. According to the results, the water quality of each basin is considered excellent or good. Rapid warming of the shallow water of the basins was detected during the summer months, resulting in different hydrochemical characteristics (pH, NH4-N, NO2-N, NO3-N, PO4-P, CODcr BOI5) compared to the river section. Differences in the plant nutrient and oxygen balance component groups have been revealed with hierarchical and two-step cluster analysis as well. The results demonstrated that the hydrochemical properties of the lake's water are substantially influenced by the filling of the lake in spring from the River Tisza and the significant lowering (1.2 m) of the water level in the autumn each year, allowing the drainage of stagnant water, the removal of accumulated sediments and the oxidation of organic matter. The number of tourists on Lake Tisza has increased rapidly over the last decade, confirming that a wide range of ecosystem services have a significant attractive impact on waterfront activities and ecotourism.

Dátum:2019
ISSN:0378-4738 1816-7950
Megjegyzések:In this study the effects of nitrogen effluent from a permeable constructed sewage tank on groundwater quality were investigated. Sampling took place before and 1.5 years after the closure. Using a 3D hydrogeological model, the spatial distribution of dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN), comprising the species NH4+, NO2- and NO3-, was modelled in the saturated zone and the amounts and changes in the ratio of NH4-N, NO2-N, NO3-N were determined. The first part of our general hypothesis, that the groundwater was heavily contaminated in the area surrounding the sewage tank, was clearly verified, since every investigated nitrogen compound exceeded the contamination limit values; but the second part of our hypothesis, that the degree of contamination would significantly decrease after the sewage tank was taken out of use has not been confirmed, since the amount of nitrogen present in inorganic forms increased in the modelled zone. The increase in DIN and the relatively high concentration of NH4+ (35 mg/L) in the immediate vicinity of the tank can be explained by the fact that organic matter (OM) accumulated over the decades provided a constant supply of inorganic nitrogen forms.

Megjegyzések:In settlements without sewage systems the uninsulated sewage tanks are the most important sources of groundwatercontamination. In our specific eastern Hungarian case study, we attempted to demonstrate the effects of wastewatereffluent on the groundwater level and the spatial distribution of the organic matter (OM) and Na+ in the autumn of2013. In 2012 we established 3-metre deep monitoring wells within a 25-metre radius of a sewage tank, which weresampled, and the level of groundwater was recorded. The results show that the outflow wastewater formed agroundwater dome. The difference between the groundwater levels measured in the monitoring wells was 49 cm. Inthe immediate environment of the sewage tank we measured a chemical oxygen demand (COD) of more than 24 mg/l.Moving away from the sewage tank the values decreased rapidly; in the farthest monitoring wells we detected CODvalues of between 4 and 7 mg/l. The high Na+ content of domestic wastewaters significantly increases the Na+ contentof the groundwater. In the vicinity of the sewage tank, we detected very high concentrations above 450 mg/l, whichcontinuously decreased when moving away from the sewage tank. In the farthest monitoring wells west and southeastfrom the sewage tank we measured concentrations of Na+ of 270 mg/l and 159 mg/l.

Megjegyzések:In our study we attempt to demonstrate the effects of uninsulated sewage tanks, which are the most importantsources of contamination in settlements without sewage systems, on groundwater quality. We comparedthe results of measurements carried out before and one and a half years after the construction of the sewage system. We established 3 m deep monitoring wells within a 25 m radius of a sewage tank, which were then sampled, and the level of groundwater was recorded. The 3D model constructed on the basis of the saturated zoneshows that the effluent wastewater formed a groundwater level dome with a height of more than 1 m. After thesewage tank was taken out of use the difference between the highest and lowest groundwater levels decreased toa few centimetres. In our study we investigated the spatial distribution of NH4+ (ammonium). Using the 3D modelwe were able to precisely determine the volume of water bodies with different levels of contamination. In anapproximately 25 m3 water body, in the immediate environment of a sewage tank in use we detected NH4+ ata concentration which was characteristic of undiluted wastewater (>90 mg?dm?3). After the sewage tank was takenout of use, the concentration in its immediate environment decreased by more than 50%, although almost everywherein the modelled area concentrations were measured above the limit value. Based on the above, we canconclude that the cleaning process has started, but the complete decontamination of the groundwater will takeseveral years.

Cím:The Use of Sodium to Calibrate the Transport Modeling of Water Pollution in Sandy Formations Around an Uninsulated Sewage Disposal Site / György Szabó, Éva Bessenyei, Andor Hajnal, István Csige, Gergely Szabó, Csaba Tóth, József Posta, Tamás Mester
Dátum:2016
ISSN:0049-6979
Megjegyzések:In the present paper we suggest a novel calibration method of the model for hydrodynamic and contaminant transport using the example of a sewage disposal site set up uninsulated in a sandy environment. With the hydrodynamic model we applied time-dependent model calculations in order to fit the individual hydrodynamic parameters. For the calibration of the transport model, sodium was chosen, which has a negligible retardation factor. We demonstrated that this approach is suitable for creating a model that provides calculated results comparable to the actually measured, experimental ones. The created model proved to be appropriate for use in the estimation of the maximal spatial extension of the contamination, which - in the case of the investigated sewage disposal site - was found to be 0.1 km2 in the near-surface (1-3 m deep) layers, whereas it was three times higher at a depth of 40-60 m.
