Megjegyzések:Shirui hill is situated at the north-eastern part of Manipur, India. This hill is not only the habitat of world famous endemic flower; Lilium mackliniae, but also home to many vulnerable and endangered floral and faunal species.. The aim of work was to assess the ecosystem diversity and landscape transformation Landsat satellite images of year 1988, 2001 and 2013 have been used to study the land use/land cover change and landscape fragmentation using FRAGSTATS. Several statistics such as principal component analysis (PCA) and spatial metrics are used to understand the results. The PCA was performed on the landscape metrics explained 93.0% of the total variance and justified three PCs; of these, both RMSR and AGFI fit very well (0.02 and 0.99, respectively), while PC1 accounted for 42% of the variance and was correlated with CA, TCA, NDCA and AREA_CV, PC2 explained 34% and was correlated with TE, SHAPE_MN, and PC3 explained 19% and was correlated with NP. The phyto-sociological study was carried out to assess the vegetation status. Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) method was adopted for socio-economic data collection. The finding of work suggests a rising pressure of human activities on the land and sizable portion of it have been converted into either shifting agriculture or wet paddy land.

Cím:A számszerűsített felszínborítás-változás módszertani kérdései / Szabó Szilárd, Bertalan László, Varga Orsolya Gyöngyi, Novák Tibor József

Megjegyzések:We analyzed the Corine Land Cover 2018 (CLC2018) dataset to reveal the correspondence between land cover categories of the CLC and the spectral information of Landsat-8, Sentinel-2 and PlanetScope images. Level 1 categories of the CLC2018 were analyzed in a 25 km ? 25 km study area in Hungary. Spectral data were summarized by land cover polygons, and the dataset was evaluated with statistical tests. We then performed Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) and Random Forest classifications to reveal if CLC L1 level categories were confirmed by spectral values. Wetlands and water bodies were the most likely to be confused with other categories. The least mixture was observed when we applied the median to quantify the pixel variance of CLC polygons. RF outperformed the LDA's accuracy, and PlanetScope's data were the most accurate. Analysis of class level accuracies showed that agricultural areas and wetlands had the most issues with misclassification. We proved the representativeness of the results with a repeated randomized test, and only PlanetScope seemed to be ungeneralizable. Results showed that CLC polygons, as basic units of land cover, can ensure 71.1?78.5% OAs for the three satellite sensors; higher geometric resolution resulted in better accuracy. These results justified CLC polygons, in spite of visual interpretation, can hold relevant information about land cover considering the surface reflectance values of satellites. However, using CLC as ground truth data for land cover classifications can be questionable, at least in the L1 nomenclature.

Cím:Effects of Category Aggregation on Land Change Simulation Based on Corine Land Cover Data / Varga Orsolya Gyöngyi, Robert Gilmore Pontius, Szabó Zsuzsanna, Szabó Szilárd
Dátum:2020
ISSN:2072-4292
Megjegyzések:Several factors influence the performance of land change simulation models. One potentially important factor is land category aggregation, which reduces the number of categories while having the potential to reduce also the size of apparent land change in the data. Our article compares how four methods to aggregate Corine Land Cover categories influence the size of land changes in various spatial extents and consequently influence the performance of 114 Cellular Automata-Markov simulation model runs. We calculated the reference change during the calibration interval, the reference change during the validation interval and the simulation change during the validation interval, along with five metrics of simulation performance, Figure of Merit and its four components: Misses, Hits, Wrong Hits and False Alarms. The Corine Standard Level 1 category aggregation reduced change more than any of the other aggregation methods. The model runs that used the Corine Standard Level 1 aggregation method tended to return lower sizes of changing areas and lower values of Misses, Hits, Wrong Hits and False Alarms, where Hits are correctly simulated changes. The behavior-based aggregation method maintained the most change while using fewer categories compared to the other aggregation methods. We recommend an aggregation method that maintains the size of the reference change during the calibration and validation intervals while reducing the number of categories, so the model uses the largest size of change while using fewer than the original number of categories.

Dátum:2019
ISSN:1470-160X
Megjegyzések:Some popular metrics to evaluate land change simulation models are misleading. Therefore, land change scientists have called for the development of methods to evaluate various aspects of modelling applications. This article answers the call by giving novel methods to compare three types of land change: 1) reference change during the calibration time interval, 2) simulation change during the validation time interval, and 3) reference change during the validation time interval. We compare these changes by using Intensity Analysis' three levels and the Figure of Merit's four components: Misses, Hits, Wrong Hits and False Alarms. We illustrate the concepts by applying a Cellular Automata - Markov land change model to a case study in northeast Hungary. We used reference maps of five land categories to calibrate the model during 2000-2006, then to validate the simulation during 2006-2012. Intensity Analysis' time interval level shows that the simulation change and the reference change decelerated from 2000-2006 to 2006-2012. Intensity Analysis' category level shows that the simulation losses were less than what a pure Markov chain would have dictated. Intensity Analysis' transition level shows that the model's Markov algorithm simulated correctly that the gain of Forest targeted Agriculture and Wetland. The Figure of Merit's components reveals more allocation error than quantity error. Our collection of metrics show that more error derived from the Cellular Automata algorithm than from the Markov algorithm. We recommend that scientists use Intensity Analysis and the Figure of Merit's components to reveal various fundamental aspects of modelling applications.

Dátum:2014
ISSN:2278-5205
Megjegyzések:Land cover features of landscapes can be analysed thoroughly by different remotely sensed data. In our research we examined the land use/land cover (LULC)changes in three randomly selected areas located in different microregions of the Great Hungarian Plain,NE Hungary. We intended to observe the efficiency of object-based image analysis compared to the pixel-based method by applying them to archive aerial photos and digital true colour orthophotos representing the different landscape types (alluvial plain, terraced and loess plain, sandy region with partly fixed dunes) of the study area. We applied the bottom-up multiresolution segmentation technique in eCognition and classified the evolved segments based on visual interpretation. We used supervised classification methods in order to compare their efficiency with our results. Production of land cover maps based on segmentation and non-automated classification processes and accuracy assessment results confirmed that the object-based approach was more efficient (with a total accuracy value of 97.2%) and even better than the maximum likelihood classification, which had the best performance (total accuracy: 62.8%) of all the supervised pixel-based methods applied.
