Megjegyzések:The structure of neutron-rich nitrogen nuclei has been studied by use of neutron removal reaction and inelastic scattering. Mass and charge deformations have been deduced for the first excited state of 21N, which indicates the partial persistence of the N=14 subshell closure in nitrogen isotopes. The spectroscopic information obtained on the structure of 19,21N confirms the results from a previous experiment.

Megjegyzések:The decay of a new four-quasiparticle isomeric state in 160Sm has been observed using [gamma]-ray spectroscopy at the RIBF, RIKEN. The four-quasiparticle state is assigned a 2??2??5/2?[532], ?5/2+[413], ?5/2?[523], ?7/2+[633] configuration. The half-life of this (11+) state is measured to be 1.8(4) ?s. The (11+) isomer decays into a rotational band structure, based on a (6?) ?5/2?[523]??7/2+[633] bandhead, consistent with the gK?gR values. This decays to a (5-) two-proton quasiparticle state, which in turn decays to the ground state band. Potential energy surface and blocked-BCS calculations were performed in the deformed midshell region around 160Sm. They reveal a significant influence from ?6 deformation and that 160Sm is the best candidate for the lightest four-quasiparticle K isomer to exist in this region. The relationship between reduced hindrance and isomer excitation energy for E1 transitions from multiquasiparticle states is considered with the new data from 160Sm. The E1 data are found to agree with the existing relationship for E2 transitions.

Megjegyzések:Excited states in the N=102 isotones 166Gd and 164Sm have been observed following isomeric decay for the first time at RIBF, RIKEN. The half-lives of the isomeric states have been measured to be 950(60) and 600(140) ns for 166Gd and 164Sm, respectively. Based on the decay patterns and potential energy surface calculations, including ?6 deformation, a spin and parity of 6? has been assigned to the isomeric states in both nuclei. Collective observables are discussed in light of the systematics of the region, giving insight into nuclear shape evolution. The decrease in the ground-band energies of 166Gd and 164Sm (N=102) compared to 164Gd and 162Sm (N=100), respectively, presents evidence for the predicted deformed shell closure at N=100.

Megjegyzések:The low-lying level structures of nuclei in the vicinity of 78Ni were investigated using in-beam ?-ray spectroscopy to clarify the nature of the nuclear magic numbers Z=28 and N=50 in systems close to the neutron drip line. Nucleon knockout reactions were employed to populate excited states in 80Zn and 82Zn. A candidate for the 4+1 level in 80Zn was identified at 1979(30) keV, and the lifetime of this state was estimated to be 136+92?67 ps from a line-shape analysis. Moreover, the energy of the 2+1 state in 82Zn is reported to lie at 621(11) keV. The large drop in the 2+1 energy at 82Zn indicates the presence of a significant peak in the E(2+1) systematics at N=50. Furthermore, the E(4+1)/E(2+1) and B(E2;4+1?2+1)/B(E2;2+1?0+g.s.) ratios in 80Zn were deduced to be 1.32(3) and 1.12+80?60, respectively. These results imply that 80Zn can be described in terms of two-proton configurations with a 78Ni core and are consistent with a robust N=50 magic number along the Zn isotopic chain. These observations, therefore, indicate a persistent N=50 shell closure in nuclei far from the line of ? stability, which in turn suggests a doubly magic structure for 78Ni.

Megjegyzések:The structure of the neutron-rich nitrogen nuclei 18,20N has been studied by use of neutron removal reaction from a radioactive beam on a liquid hydrogen target. Several gamma-rays have been observed in coincidence with the reaction products. From the collected experimental data we have determined the energy and relative intensity of the gamma-rays assigned to 18N and 20N. On the basis of the multiplicity spectra we have built the level schemes of the studied nuclei. The spectroscopic information obtained on excited states of 18,20N confirms the results of previous experiments.

Megjegyzések:The collectivity evolution in the neutron-rich 122,124,126Pd isotopes have been investigated via in-beam ?-ray spectroscopy at the RIKEN Radioactive Isotope Beam Factory. The first 2+ states in the three isotopes were identified. In addition, candidates for the first 4+ states were observed in 122Pd and 124Pd. The results show an increasing trend of 2+ excitation energies and a reduction of Ex(4+1)/Ex(2+1) ratios in the Pd isotopes towards N = 82. The Ex(2+1) and Ex(4+1) systematics are discussed by comparison with the Xe (Z = 54) isotopes and theoretical predictions by the proton-neutron interacting boson model. The data suggest the magic nature of N = 82 in the Pd isotopic chain.

Megjegyzések:The first 2+ excited state in the neutron-rich tin isotope 136Sn has been identified at 682(13)?keV by measuring ?-rays in coincidence with the one proton removal channel from 137Sb. This value is higher than those known for heavier even?even N=86 isotones, indicating the Z=50 shell closure. It compares well to the first 2+ excited state of the lighter tin isotope 134Sn, which may suggest that the seniority scheme also holds for 136Sn. Our result confirms the trend of lower 2+ excitation energies of even?even tin isotopes beyond N=82 compared to the known values in between the two doubly magic nuclei 100Sn and 132Sn.

Megjegyzések:Neutron-rich Pm (Z = 61) isotopes were studied by delayed ?-ray spectroscopy at RIBF; Riken Nishina Center using the in-flight fission of 345 MeV/u 238U beam. An array of cluster-type Ge detectors; EURICA; was used to measure the delayed ? rays from stopped ions. Isomers were observed in 158Pm; 159Pm and 161Pm with half-lives of >16; 4.64(21), and 0.88(10) ?s respectively. Preliminary level schemes for 159Pm and 161Pm were constructed in this study. They have ground-state bands similar to those of 153Pm and 155Pm. The isomeric state of 161Pm could be interpreted as a two quasi-particle excitation of neutrons with configuration of ?7/2[633]??1/2[521] as other K?=4? isomers observed systematically in other N = 100 isotones.
