Megjegyzések:The low-lying level structures of nuclei in the vicinity of 78Ni were investigated using in-beam ?-ray spectroscopy to clarify the nature of the nuclear magic numbers Z=28 and N=50 in systems close to the neutron drip line. Nucleon knockout reactions were employed to populate excited states in 80Zn and 82Zn. A candidate for the 4+1 level in 80Zn was identified at 1979(30) keV, and the lifetime of this state was estimated to be 136+92?67 ps from a line-shape analysis. Moreover, the energy of the 2+1 state in 82Zn is reported to lie at 621(11) keV. The large drop in the 2+1 energy at 82Zn indicates the presence of a significant peak in the E(2+1) systematics at N=50. Furthermore, the E(4+1)/E(2+1) and B(E2;4+1?2+1)/B(E2;2+1?0+g.s.) ratios in 80Zn were deduced to be 1.32(3) and 1.12+80?60, respectively. These results imply that 80Zn can be described in terms of two-proton configurations with a 78Ni core and are consistent with a robust N=50 magic number along the Zn isotopic chain. These observations, therefore, indicate a persistent N=50 shell closure in nuclei far from the line of ? stability, which in turn suggests a doubly magic structure for 78Ni.

Megjegyzések:A new isomer with a half-life of 23.0(8) ms has been identified at 2406 keV in 126Pd and is proposed to have a spin and parity of 10+ with a maximally aligned configuration comprising two neutron holes in the 1h11/2 orbit. In addition to an internal-decay branch through a hindered electric octupole transition, ? decay from the long-lived isomer was observed to populate excited states at high spins in 126Ag. The smaller energy difference between the 10+ and 7? isomers in 126Pd than in the heavier N=80 isotones can be interpreted as being aschttp://hdl.handle.net/2437/215444ribed to the monopole shift of the 1h11/2 neutron orbit. The effects of the monopole interaction on the evolution of single-neutron energies below 132Sn are discussed in terms of the central and tensor forces.
