Megjegyzések:Following the modern and extremely useful direction of research and development of polymer nanocomposites with combined effects of photopolymerization superimposed by plasmon-induced processes, we investigated acrylate-based nanocomposites with broadband sensitive Irgaqure784 initiator and silicon oxide as well as gold nanoparticles in different regimes of illumination. The details of initiator photodecomposition and polymer chain formation mechanisms at the presence of the gold nanoparticles' (GNPs) plasmon fields and different combinations of irradiation wavelengths or intensities are discussed. These are related to the mechanism and efficiency of holographic volume and surface grating recording based on photopolymerization and mass-transport, diffusion processes of the organic matrix, and nanoparticles. GNP's presence in a monomer nanocomposite influences the recording parameters in a combined way, making preferable the double-wavelength irradiation mode, which may increase the efficiency of the recorded gratings up to two times at decreased exposures. Results may be used for planning fabrication processes of more complex, multifunctional photonic elements.

Cím:Peculiarities of interaction of gold nanoparticles with photoinitiators in polymer nanocomposites for holographic recording / J. Burunkova, M.-J. Ohoueu, I. Csarnovics, M. Veres, A. Bonyár, S. Kokenyesi
Dátum:2018
ISSN:1010-6030
Megjegyzések:The influence of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) on the decomposition of two widely used types of photoinitiators (Bis (.eta.5-2,4-cylcopentadien-1-yl)-bis (2,6-difluoro-3-(1H-pyrrol-1-yl)-phenyl) titanium/Irg784/and 2,2-Dimethoxy-2-phenylacetophenone/In2/) was investigated in this work, both, in simple toluene solutions or solutions with AuNPs, as well as in SiO2 nanoparticles and AuNPs containing monomer acrylate nanocomposites during photopolymerization. These processes are important for efficient, one-step creation of photonic structures by holographic recording based on polymer nanocomposites containing AuNPs with plasmonic properties. Analysing such processes, activated by irradiation with wavelengths of 532?nm and 325?nm, their efficiency and parameters of grating recording, as well as examining the related multistep photopolymerization processes by IR and UV?vis spectroscopy the influence of AuNPs on the decomposition of the photoinitiators was shown and explained by the mechanism of complex formation. Thereby, it is concluded that by combining the type of initiator, polymer matrix components, and illumination conditions the decomposition of initiators can be manipulated, that in turn affect the resulting optical modulation characteristics and the efficiency of the photonic elements recording in a one-step process.

Megjegyzések:Introduction: In this work we selected components, developed technology and studied a number of parameters of polymer nanocomposite materials, remembering that the material would have high optical and good mechanical characteristics, good sorption ability in order to ensure high value of the optical signal for a short time while maintaining the initial geometric shape. In addition, if this nanocomposite is used for medicine and biology (biocompatible or biocidal materials or the creation of a sensor based on it), the material must be non-toxic and/or biocompatible. We study the creation of polymer nanocomposites which may be applied as biocompatible materials with new functional parameters. Material and Methods: A number of polymer nanocomposites based on various urethane-acrylate monomers and nanoparticles of gold, silicon oxides, zinc and/or titanium oxides are obtained, their mechanical (microhardness) properties and wettability (contact angle) are studied. The set of required, biology-related properties of these materials, such as toxicity and sorption of microorganisms are also investigated in order to prove their possible applicability. Results and Discussion: The composition of the samples influences their microhardness and the value of contact angle, which means that varying with the monomer and the metallic, oxide nanoparticles composition, we could change these parameters. Besides it, the set of required, biology-related properties of these materials, such as toxicity and sorption of microorganisms were also investigated in order to prove their possible applicability. It was shown that the materials are non-toxic, the adhesion of microorganisms on their surface also could be varied by changing their composition. Conclusion: The presented polymer nanocomposites with different compositions of monomer and the presence of nanoparticles in them are prospective material for a possible bio-application as it is biocompatible, not toxic. The sorption of microorganism could be varied depending on the type of bacterias, the monomer composition, and nanoparticles.

Megjegyzések:The technology of light-sensitive amorphous chalcogenide layers, made from As-Ge-Se raw glasses, thick layers of acrylic polymers, made from mixture of isomers as well as two types of nanocomposites of these materials with gold nanoparticles was developed. These layers were used for direct, one-step surface geometrical and optical (amplitude-phase) relief recording by laser- or electron-beams. Investigations were directed to the establishment of giant geometrical relief formation processes, which resulted elements like bumps, single lines and diffractive gratings applicable as elements of integrated optics. The mechanism of the recording processes, which include excitation of electron-hole processes, structural transformation or polymerization, as well as mass-transport component was accepted for explanation of comparable effects at light- and electron beam recording. Selection of the materials and recording conditions with best resulting parameters was done.

Megjegyzések:In this work, the performance of gold nanoparticles were investigated for stimulation of photosensitive materials for photonic applications. It was widely used for surface plasmon resonance experiments, not in the last place because of the manifestation of optical resonances in the visible spectral region. The localized surface plasmon resonance is rather easily observed in nanometer-sized metallic structures and widely used for measurements, sensing, in semiconductor devices and even in optical data storage. Firstly, gold nanoparticles on silica glass substrate satisfy the conditions for surface plasmon resonance in the green-red spectral range, where the chalcogenide glasses have the highest sensitivity. The gold nanostructures influence and enhance the optical, structural and volume changes and promote the exciton generation in gold nanoparticles/chalcogenide layer structure. The experimental results support the importance of localized electric fields in the photo-induced transformation of chalcogenide glasses as well as suggest new approaches to improve the performance of these optical recording media. Results may be utilized for direct, micrometre- or submicron size geometrical and optical pattern formation and used also for further development of the explanations of these effects in chalcogenide glasses. Besides of that, gold nanoparticles could be added to the organic light-sensitive material. The acrylate-based materials are frequently used for optical, holographic recording of optoelectronic elements due to photo-stimulated structural transformations. The holographic recording process and photo-polymerization effect could be enhanced by the localized plasmon field of the created gold nanostructures. Finally, gold nanoparticles widely used for electrochemical and optical sensor applications. Although these NPs can be synthesized in several ways, perhaps one of the simplest methods is the thermal annealing of pre-deposited thin films on glass or silicon surfaces. With this method, the parameters of the annealing process (time, temperature) and the pre-deposited thin film thickness influence and define the resulting size and distribution of the NPs on the surface. Localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) is a very sensitive optical phenomenon and can be utilized for a large variety of sensing purposes (chemical sensors, gas sensors, biosensors, etc.). Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is an analytical method which can significantly increase the yield of Raman scattering of target molecules adsorbed on the surface of metallic nanoparticles. The sensitivity of LSPR and SERS based devices is strongly depending on the used material and also on the size and geometry of the metallic nanoparticles. By controlling these parameters the plasmon absorption band can be tuned and the sensitivity can be optimized. The technological parameters of the generated gold nanoparticles were investigated and influence on the SERS and on the LSPR sensitivity was established. The LSPR sensitivity were simulated for gold nanocubes and nanospheres with MNPBEM Matlab toolbox. It was found that the enhancement factor (which characterize the increase in the peak shift for multi-particle arrangements compared to single-particle models) depends on the size of the nanoparticles and on the distance between the particles.

Cím:Optical recording in functional polymer nanocomposites by multi-beam interference holography / Dmitrij Zhuk, Julia Burunkova, Viacheslav Kalabin, Istvan Csarnovics, Sandor Kokenyesi
Dátum:2017
Megjegyzések:Our investigations relate to the development of new polymer nanocomposite materials and technologies for fabrication of photonic elements like gratings, integrated elements, photonic crystals. The goal of the present work was the development and application of the multi-beam interference method for one step, direct formation of 1-, 2- or even 3D photonic structures in functional acrylate nanocomposites, which contain SiO2 and Au nanoparticles and which are sensitized to blue and green laser illumination. The presence of gold nanoparticles and possibility to excite plasmonic effects can essentially influence the polymerization processes and the spatial redistribution of nanoparticles in the nanocomposite during the recording. This way surface and volume phase reliefs can be recorded. It is essential, that no additional treatments of the material after the recording are necessary and the elements possess high transparency, are stable after some relaxation time. New functionalities can be provided to the recorded structures if luminescent materials are added to such materials.
