Megjegyzések:	Fishing is a widely popular activity that provides an opportunity for laymen to collect reliable ecological data. It is now recognized that recreational fishers possess valuable ecological knowledge (recreational FEK) that can significantly enhance our understanding of nature, and prioritizing nature conservational tasks. This literature review focuses exclusively on the ecological knowledge of recreational fishers, their perceptions of nature, and the potential for co-production of knowledge through citizen science programs. By conducting literature searches in Google Scholar and Web of Science, we have analysed published articles and evaluated the contributions of recreational anglers and spearfishers to conservation and other ecologically relevant fields. We reviewed a total of 81 studies from five continents, including 22 studies that examined other stakeholder groups, predominantly commercial fishers. Our findings suggest that the mapping of recreational fishers' knowledge presents an opportunity to gain a better understanding of aquatic habitats and wetlands. Their factual observations and perceptions can also provide essential data for species conservation and habitat management, and can help establish citizen science projects for marine and freshwater ecosystems worldwide.

Megjegyzések:	A hagyományos és helyi ökológiai tudás - a nemzetközi szakirodalomban traditional ecological knowledge és local ecological knowledge - alaposabb megismerése a XXI. század leggyorsabban fejlődő tudományágai közé tartozik. A hagyományos tudásanyag elsősorban a tájjal legszorosabb kapcsolatban élő gazdálkodók, pásztorok, halászok természet megfigyelésére épülő ökológiai tudását jelenti, míg helyi ökológiai tudásról azoknál a társadalmi csoportoknál beszélhetünk, amelyeknél a tudásuk egy szelete nem a környezetük megfigyeléséből, hanem részben más forrásból, elsősorban a szakmai előképzettségükből fakad. Utóbbira jó példa az erdészek, természetvédelmi őrök, de ugyanígy a horgászok témaspecifikus ökológiai tudása is.

Megjegyzések:	The dispersal of fish into distant and isolated habitats remains a topic of continuous discussion in the field of fish biogeography. This is particularly relevant due to the perceived limitation of fish movement to what is known as active dispersal. Fish migration is often confined to interconnected water bodies, underscoring the significance of dispersal for fish inhabiting isolated aquatic habitats. However, empirical evidence for a natural (i.e. not human-mediated) mechanism has been limited. Here we explore and provide evidence for waterbird-mediated endozoochory as a possible dispersal mechanism in various fish species and families. We force-fed mallards Anas plathyrynchos with fertilised eggs of nine bony fish species, covering nine taxonomic families. We recovered viable embryos of five fish taxa in the faeces of mallard, proving the ability of fish eggs to survive the passing of the digestive system of waterbirds. Moreover, the recovered eggs successfully hatched into larvae in two fish species. Taking into the flight speed and numerosity of mallards, as well as the high abundance of fish eggs, our results highlight endozoochory of fish eggs by waterbirds as a possible significant, although likely rare natural dispersal mechanism that can occur across more species than previously known in freshwater fish.
