Megjegyzések:On what grounds can our life, the development and the situation of our narrow environment or the country be assessed? Is the final conclusion drawn unconsciously on the basis of findings in certain areas with a mathematical formula? Or a single "indicator" is chosen (e.g. money, number of friends, professional accolades) to help us in the assessment of the situation? These questions arise when we evaluate the quality of life. We might agree that it is much easier to answer the question "Why do we measure the quality of life" than the one "How do we measure it?". Let us start with answering the easier question. Life quality is to be measured because life is much more than simple surviving. On one hand, the improvement of people's health is judged in terms of their lifespan; on the other hand in terms of the improvement of their life quality (e.g. how their pain is eased, how their ability to work improves). Today policy-making governments have started to realize that the reserves of economic and social policies preaching slogans like "job creation", "GDP growth" and "motorway construction" are running out. More and more people feel that to make citizens satisfied and to gain their votes something else will also be needed than before. But what does this mean? To answer the question many call the notion of life quality and happiness to help and try to find the way out by the reinterpretation of thoughts and ideas well known for centuries for the XXI. century.

Megjegyzések:The present study discusses the partial results of a more comprehensive research and its front line goal is to identify the factors which affect the quality of life. It also attempts to explore the interrelationship of health tourism and the quality of life. Our study merely focuses on the analysis and the introduction of factors that determine health condition. Good health in itself is not enough, qualitative life requires physical-psychological wellbeing as well. Years lost from lives due to poor health and early death result not only in human but economic losses as well; so it is highly recommended to dedicate time, money and energy to its investigation.

Megjegyzések:The Eastern part of Hungary still has a strong traditional food culture based on using local and seasonal ingredients. For the last few years we have seen an increasing demand for authentic culinary experiences, which contributed to the emergence of international and domestic gastronomic exhibitions, thematic routes, and food festivals in the region. The majority of these events are initiated and organized by local governmental agencies. There are also some initiatives at the national level to encourage small-scale producers to sell their agricultural produce locally, although the legislation on food safety hinders agritourism businesses from providing catering on farms. This study aims to explore the linkages between gastronomy and sustainable tourism development, as well as to investigate how tradition and innovation in gastronomy may contribute to agritourism development. Through an analysis of the present-day situation of the various aspects of the local gastronomy at the agritourism market in Eastern Hungary, examples of good practice are highlighted and the most important challenges are identified. The research is based on qualitative methods: participant observation on-site and focus-group interviews of the stakeholders of agritourism. Findings reveal the importance of governmental intervention and the need for long-term planning in agritourism development.
