Megjegyzések:A national objective was realised when Hungary joined the European Unionbased on the preliminary result of the referendum. Naturally, there were pros and consabout the accession and there were those who refused the European integration. Still theemotion was stronger that came from the future EU membership and the hope in terms ofthe agriculture that with the opportunities offered by the EU both the Hungarian agricultureand countryside would follow a development course. Because of the accession a lot ofsupport forms as well as the EU institutions became available but considering the impactsthere were no clear positions. Obviously, today we know what kind of objective, positivechanges were brought by the accession for example in terms of infrastructural andmachine supply, broadened market possibilities and income growth. Stil l we alsoexperience the objective disadvantages such as the stronger competition and the massexpansion of multinational food-processing and trading companies. The scientificmeasurement and judgement of the developmental changes which are difficult to measureis still a subject of debate. We have done the concentration analysis for two budgetperiods 2004-2006 and 2007-2013 respectively. Between 2004-2006 the regionalconcentration is more balanced year by year than the district. In the district values even inthis period we can already experience the fact that very few farmers receive a big amountof support. Between 2007-2013 there are no sharp differences in the case ofconcentration neither in the region nor in the district. The Lorenz curve shows a classicconcentration distribution in the Southern Great Plain Region every year. The course ofLorenz curves is supported by the value of the concentration ratio which is the total shareof the support of the three players receiving the biggest funds since the indicator has beenhovering around the 10% average value in the region since 2006 while in the district wecan experience values within a 36% and 17% average intervals. By evaluating the fundsdata of the Southern Great Plain Region and Sarkad district we can state that by 2013 theconcentration has balanced out in both areas still we can experience a significant funds -concentration on the district level.

Megjegyzések:The concentration analysis of the agricultural and rural development subsidies in the Southern Great Plain Region were carried out in two periods, in the budget periods of 2004-2006 and 2007-2013, respectively. There is a difference experienced in the concentration between 2004 and 2006; however, the concentration is more balanced with respect to each year. In the regional values the fact may be realized that the share of farmers from the subsidy is balanced. In the period between 2007 and 2013 even the minimal difference in the concentration disappeared relating to the examined years. The value of the concentration index, that is the share of the three performers getting the highest subsidies of the total, proves the run of Lorenz curves, as the indicator has been reflecting an average value around 10% in the region since 2006 in each year. By evaluating the data relating to the subsidies in the Southern Great Plain Region, the fact may be concluded that the concentration became equalized in the examined area.

Megjegyzések:The Eastern part of Hungary still has a strong traditional food culture based on using local and seasonal ingredients. For the last few years we have seen an increasing demand for authentic culinary experiences, which contributed to the emergence of international and domestic gastronomic exhibitions, thematic routes, and food festivals in the region. The majority of these events are initiated and organized by local governmental agencies. There are also some initiatives at the national level to encourage small-scale producers to sell their agricultural produce locally, although the legislation on food safety hinders agritourism businesses from providing catering on farms. This study aims to explore the linkages between gastronomy and sustainable tourism development, as well as to investigate how tradition and innovation in gastronomy may contribute to agritourism development. Through an analysis of the present-day situation of the various aspects of the local gastronomy at the agritourism market in Eastern Hungary, examples of good practice are highlighted and the most important challenges are identified. The research is based on qualitative methods: participant observation on-site and focus-group interviews of the stakeholders of agritourism. Findings reveal the importance of governmental intervention and the need for long-term planning in agritourism development.
