Megjegyzések:n the game of basketball game-related statistics are utilised to help decision makers to evaluate players' achievements. Previous research showed that in the case of individual awards, points are preferred over other indicators of effectiveness. Based on recent studies and following Simon's bounded rationality, in our interpretation, decision-makers decide on nominations at the post-grant level according to points scoring which is the easiest aspect to assess and the most familiar to them. In this context we also hypothesise that youth all-star players have better overall performance than their not selected teammates. To test our hypotheses we selected all of the youth awarded male players and their teammates from 2004 to 2019. In our sample, we examined n = 3198 player statistics. Two groups were created with nominated and not selected players. We used a two-sample t-test, and correlation matrix to examine the relationship between the variables (p < 0.001). We found that scoring is the most important selection criteria for decision-makers (r = 0.605; p = 0.000) and the selected players had significantly better individual statistics. An important finding of our study is that although efficiency (EFF) is used to measure the players' contribution to the game, it is not the primary selection factor and should therefore be redefined.

Megjegyzések:Success in team sports foremostly depends on individual performance and the cooperation of the team members. We aimed to investigate the individual performance changes of youth awarded basketball players from youth to senior national team level. For this purpose we examined four game-related basketball statistics: Minutes Played (MP), Points Scored (PS), Rebounds (REB), and Assists (AST) both in youth and senior level with regression analysis. We collected all the individually prized players of former youth European Championships available on the most reliable websites (N=323). We used descriptive statistical methods and also investigated correlation between their prized performance and their senior peak performance on national level (p<0.01). Our analysis showed that a larger amount of the previously awarded players became member of their senior national team (58%, n=188). 90.71% of the awarded players (n=293) were the first or second best scoring leader of their own team in their youth prime. We found moderate significant correlation between youth rebounds and senior rebounds, also youth assists and senior assists, but only weak correlation between youth and senior Minutes Played and Points Scored. From this aspect getting awards on youth level can boost an athlete's career, but it doesn't mean to reach the same peak when they are selected to the senior squads as time and age are dominant background variables, an extended analysis is needed in the future.

Megjegyzések:The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has changed its youth competition system in 2004, and due to this regulation, many players had the chance to compete every year at youth level and later, to elevate to the top. The purpose of our study was to inspect those medal-winning European basketball players who competed in the past 19 senior basketball world events. We analysed the tendencies of selection by dissecting the set-up of successful senior national teams. We investigated each one of the 281 European basketball players who won a medal during the analysed period (2000-2019). We collected data from the archive page of FIBA. Our goal was to see whether there was a relation between the youth competition experience and the minutes spent in senior world events. We used the Cramer Association Coefficient, Relative Age Effect and average age were also inspected. We found that participation in the national youth tournaments is important but not the most exclusive factor of selection. There are opportunities for success in the adult national teams for players who have covered alternative sports careers ? the factor of national youth experience is not exclusive. We suppose that head coaches utilize older and more experienced players on the Olympic Games, the average ages of successful Olympic medal-winner teams are higher than other world events' medallists. Despite the fact that we were not able to find statistically proven and associative relationship between national youth recruitment eligibility and the minutes in game spent by successful adult players, further research could be gap fillers in exploring key factors in adulthood efficiency.

Megjegyzések:A globalizált sport éles versenyhelyzetet teremt a sportági szereplők között a sportszakmai sikerekért és a gazdasági haszonmaximalizálásért. Elengedhetetlenné vált a sporttudományos eszköztár használata azoknak, akik az élmezőnyhöz szeretnének tartozni. Folyamatos a módszereknek és eszközöknek a keresése, amelyek a tehetségesnek vélt sportolók kiválasztását elősegítik. Kutatómunkánkban a sportági kiválasztási mutatók fontosságát figyelembe véve az utánpótlás válogatottságot a kosárlabda sportágban a kiválasztás fokmérőjeként tekintettük. A sikeres felnőtt válogatottak összeállításának elemzésén keresztül kívántuk megvizsgálni a kiválasztási tendenciákat. Kutatásunk fókuszába az elmúlt húsz év kosárlabda felnőtt válogatott világeseményeit helyeztük. Célunk, a nemzetközi kosárlabda szövetség (FIBA) felnőtt versenyrendszerének vizsgálata mellett az utánpótlás versenyrendszerek 2004-es átalakításából adódó hatásmechanizmusainak vizsgálata volt. Hipotézisünk szerint azok a válogatottak voltak sikeresek nemzetközi porondon, amelyek erős kohézióval rendelkeztek. Azt feltételeztük, hogy az eredményes csapatok elsősorban volt utánpótlás válogatott játékosokra támaszkodnak, valamint feltételezésünk szerint az utánpótlás válogatott játékosok aránya megnőtt a csapaton belül a versenyrendszerek átalakításának köszönhetően. Vizsgáltuk továbbá a relatív életkor hatás jelenlétét a mintán. Összesen 19 felnőtt kosárlabda nemzetközi esemény került kutatásunk fókuszába, amelyeken 281 európai válogatott játékos szerzett érmes helyezést. A kapott adatok alapján azt tapasztaltuk, hogy az utánpótlás válogatott tornákon történő részvétel fontos, de nem kizárólagos kiválasztási faktor, egyre több játékos rendelkezik utánpótlás válogatott versenytapasztalattal. Azonban egyéb alternatív sportéletutat járó játékosok számára is lehetőség nyílik a felnőtt válogatottakkal sikert elérni, az utánpótlás válogatottság hiánya nem kizáró tényező. Kutatásunk eredményei alapján azok az 1984-ben vagy később született játékosok, akik utánpótlás versenytapasztalat nélkül kerültek be dobogós csapatok kereteibe, sok játékpercet tölthettek a pályán, több esetben csapatuk meghatározó játékosává váltak. Annak ellenére, hogy nem találtunk statisztikailag leírható, asszociatív kapcsolatot az utánpótlás válogatottság és a sikeres felnőtt játékosok játékpercei között, a további kutatások hiánypótlóak lehetnek a felnőttkori eredményesség kulcstényezőinek feltárásában.

Megjegyzések:One of the key elements of high-level youth development strategy is that we select the talented youngsters with adequate, scientifically based methods. In Hungary this is supported by the Heracles programs (Heracles Champion and Heracles Star Program), which have the explicit goal of educating a selection of athletes who have the opportunity to pursue a professional career. We wanted to investigate the effectiveness of the programs by placing men's basketball in the focus of our research. We analyzed players who entered the Heracles programs but had already reached the peak of their careers. The sample thus consisted of 143 people, these players could already present themselves in the senior national team with a realistic chance. We used descriptive statistical methods, relying on the website of the domestic and international basketball association, the website of the Heracles programs, and the eurobasket.com paid page. We found that 80% of the surveyed players had the opportunity to introduce themselves in the Hungarian first or second division, however, for a longer period of time, the athletes stayed primarily in the second division. Those who have started a career abroad, played mainly in second-class or less-registered championships. Most of the players who are currently selected by the senior Hungarian national team are playing for a domestic Hungarian first class team. 2/3 (N=63) of the Heracles players with national youth selection debuted in the first class and 1/5 (N=20) in the second division, so the youth selection and Heracles membership together can be a serious selection factor. According to our research debuting in the senior national team without Heracles and national youth selection causes big difficulties, not a single ?Heracles age" player played more than one senior national tournament without these two criteria. We also observed some anomalies in selection efficiency (relative age effect, territorial distribution), however, forward- looking federal intent and new regulations predict an increase in playing minutes for young players and a more lasting use in first division.

Megjegyzések:A Héraklész-programot azzal a céllal hozták létre egy újfajta utánpótlás nevelési stratégia kulcselemeként, hogy a tehetségesnek tartott játékosokat identifikálják, pályafutásokat, fejlődésüket a tudományos eszközök felhasználásával nyomon kövessék. A Héraklész-Bajnokprogram 2001-ben 13 sportággal indult, mára 20 olimpiai sportág reménységeit tömöríti. A projekt elsődleges célja az volt, hogy a 14-18 év közötti sportolók tudományos háttérrel, edzőtáborokkal és edzéslehetőségekkel történő menedzselése megteremtse a minőségi utánpótlás nevelés feltételrendszerét és a felnőttkori sportági sikerességhez szükséges pénzügyi, szakmai hátteret. Kimondott feladatként jelent meg a program alapelveként, hogy a kiválasztott játékosok elérjék a korosztályos nemzetközi színvonalat. A Bajnokprogram szakmai felelősei a sportági szakszövetségek, az ő kompetenciájuk az edzők, sportolók kiválasztására, szakmai programok kialakítására terjed ki. A program sikerességének kulcsa az indulástól biztosított, és ellenőrzött állami támogatás. 2006 elejétől a Héraklész Csillagprogram tette lehetővé a kiválasztott sportolók 23 éves korukig történő rendszeres, nemzetközi versenyeztetését, ezáltal még több lehetőség nyílt a patronáltak professzionalizálódására. Ameddig a Bajnokprogramban közel 1350 sportolót regisztráltak, a Csillagprogram keretében közel 400 sportoló pályafutása került támogatásra a szövetségek által sportágspecifikusan lehívható keretek terhére. A sportolók monitorozása és a kiválasztás minél nagyobb hatásfokának érdekében a programokat irányító Nemzeti Sport Intézet jelenleg is szoros szakmai együttműködést folytat az illetékes szövetségekkel. Kutatásunk a Héraklész-programokban résztvevő kosárlabdázók elemzésére fókuszál, azzal a céllal, hogy a Héraklész sportolói tagságot, mint kiválasztási mutatót helyezi a középpontba. Harsányi (2009) atléták teljesítményét elemezve arra a következtetésre jutott, hogy az utánpótlás versenyek fontos kiválasztási mutatók lehetnek a felnőttkori eredményességet tekintve. Szerettük volna kideríteni, hogy a "Héraklész tagság" predesztinálhat-e professzionális karrierre? Kíváncsiak voltunk arra, hogy a programok létrehozása óta az általunk kiválasztott mintából milyen arányban sikerült a sportolóknak elérni az első,- ill. másodosztályt? A másik végletként milyen azon sportolók aránya, akik ugyan kiválasztásra kerültek a Héraklész programokban, de regisztrálható professzionális pályafutást nem értek el? A hatékonyság számszerűsíthetőségének érdekében a programok létrehozásakor megfogalmazott célt, a korosztályos válogatottságot, valamint a felnőtt válogatottság meglétét is vizsgálni kívántuk.
