Megjegyzések:This research has the general goal to meet the customization of agriculture in small scale farming. We are developing a technique using micro doses of soil conditioners and organic material applied in the root zone of vegetable crops. We expected to change the physical and chemical properties of the affected soil, which has been irrigated with salty water. Two different soil conditioners were tested. A lysimeter experiment including 8 simple drainage lysimeters was set up in the Research Institute of Karcag IAREF University of Debrecen in 2017. The main goal was to study the effect of different soil conditioners on the soil endangered by secondary salinization induced by irrigation with saline water. In order to compare the difference between the treatments, we collected soil samples, water samples, and determined the yields. Chili pepper (Capsicum annuum) was used as an indicator crop during one specific agricultural season. The technique called micro soil conditioning is rational because several reasons. The roles of the technique are various, for example it can serve as a source of carbon or a container for soil amendments and can minimize evaporation. We found this technique not to interfere with the chemical reaction or the interaction with the plants. However, the micro doses of soil amendments had the role to minimize the risk of soil degradation and do not significantly influence soil respiration. In addition, by improving soil properties, soil conditioning increases the leaching of the excess of salts from the root zone. In fact, this technique can decrease the cost of the inputs and improves the production of vegetables, and at the same time mitigates the effect of secondary salinization.

Cím:Simulation of the irrigation practice applied in the hobby gardens of Karcag in simple drainage lysimeters / Lúcia Sinka, A. R. Garcia, Krisztina Czellér, Géza Tuba, József Zsembeli
Dátum:2019
Megjegyzések:Most of the vegetables have high water demand hence their production with irrigation is generally justified. Nevertheless improper irrigation may induce unfavourable processes in the soil (e.g. secondary salinization). An irrigation experiment was set in 12 simple drainage lysimeters at the lysimeter station of the Research Institute of Karcag with the basic goal to quantify the effect of the irrigation frequency and water quality on the soil and green bean. Two approaches were applied: all the lysimeters were irrigated with the same weekly amount of water, 6 with saline water, 6 with deionised water. Within both treatments 3 lysimeters were irrigated 5 times, while the other 3 two times a week. We examined the effect of irrigation on the moisture content of the soil layers at 0-10 and 20-30 cm. The soil moisture content data measured in the soil columns irrigated once a week with a higher dose showed more favourable soil moisture profile for the plants. Irrigation with saline water had negative effect on each investigated plant parameter.

Dátum:2019
Megjegyzések:Kutatómunkánk során arra kerestük a választ, hogy konkurenciát jelentenek-e a fák a köztes növények számára a talaj nedvességtartalmát illetően egy agrárerdészeti rendszerben. A szikes, rossz talajtulajdonságokkal rendelkező területen beállított agrárerdészeti kísérlet első évében, köles köztesnövény alkalmazása mellett vizsgáltuk a talaj nedvességtartalmának alakulását a fákhoz közel, illetve a köztesnövény állományába telepített TTN szondák segítségével. Our research aims to determine if there is a competition in the soil moisture use of trees and intercrops in an agroforestry system. In the first year of our experiment set up in a poor, salt affected soil with millet as the indicator intercrop, we measured the soil moisture content near the trees and in the stand of the intercrop by means of soil moisture probes (type TTN). The moisture content of the upper 40 cm deep soil layer was analysed by each 10 cm deep layer and as a whole too. We could figure out correlation between the moisture content of the whole investigated soil layer and the amount of precipitation. We established that soil moisture content values measured near the trees were lower at every monitoring date than in the soil under the intercrop. In the first year of the experiment we could not detect concurrency between the trees and the intercrop as they utilised the moisture content of different soil layers. Nevertheless not only in the utilisation of the soil moisture stocks but in the dynamics of the infiltration of the natural precipitation we have detected differences.

Cím:Examination of the effect of soil conditioning on the microbiological activity of three different soil types in a pot experiment / József Zsembeli, Arzu Rivera-García, Zsadány Zsembeli, Györgyi Kovács, Krisztina Czellér, Géza Tuba
Dátum:2019
Megjegyzések:A pot experiment was set up in order to evaluate the soil respiration by the emission of CO2 on 3 different soils treated with different soil conditioners in the Research Institute of Karcag IAREF University of Debrecen in 2018. Two soil conditioners (Physiomax, Solactive) and one control treatment were applied. Our hypothesis was that by means of the measurement of CO2 emission from the soil the positive effect of soil conditioners on the microbiological activity of the soil can be figured out. The pots were filled with 3 different soil types that represent the 3 main soil groups of the Great Hungarian Plain: chernozem from Debrecen-Látókép, solonetz from Karcag, and sand from Nyírlugos. The CO2 concentration of the emitted gas from the pots was measured once a week with a Testo 535 infrared gas analyser before and after the incubation period of 30 minutes. Higher soil respiration values induced by the microorganisms in the treatments with soil conditioners were expected than in the control treatment. The CO2 concentration in solonetz and chernozem soils showed no representative difference between the treatments. In the case of the sandy soil we gained unexpected and contradictory results. Though this soil is the poorest in nutrients, the highest CO2 concentration values were measured. No treatment effect could be figured out, though after the second treatment somewhat higher CO2 concentration was measured in the pots treated with Solactive. Markedly high CO2 concentrations were measured for each treatment after irrigation was applied.

Megjegyzések:The research work was started on the preliminary knowledge that the risk of secondary salinization is high in the hobby gardens around Karcag as the water of the aquifers used for irrigation is saline, nevertheless irrigation in the drought periods is essential for vegetable production. A complex experiment was set up in 12 simple drainage lysimeters at the lysimeter station of the Research Institute of Karcag in 2012 in order to simulate the conditions of irrigation characteristic in the region with the goal of finding a solution to mitigate the harmful effects by means of optimization of irrigation. In 2017-2018 three approaches were applied for the scientific establishment of the problem studying the effect of different irrigation frequencies, different irrigation water qualities, and soil conditioning on the moisture content and the salt profile of the soil. The soil conditioner (Neosol) applied was found to have a positive effect on the water and salt regime of the soil, partly by creating a more favourable vertical distribution of the soil water, and partly preserving more moisture in the soil.
