Megjegyzések:A well-functioning public transport system is one of the foundations of the Smart city concept and sustainable cities. The COVID period offers an excellent opportunity to examine the impact of different factors, because throughout this period society was faced with both health and governmental impacts that had different effects. Public transport use in the EU member states from the turn of the millennium until the beginning of the pandemic ranged from 17-18% to 27% of total journeys. The COVID-19 virus caused a 5-7% decrease in public transport use. The present study analyses the relationship between these effects and the number of paying passengers on public transport in Debrecen. Four hypotheses were put forward, i.e., that (1) the evolution of travel tickets, (2) general passes, (3) discounted passes and (4) replacement tickets were influenced by the evolution of the active COVID-19 case rate. The data were collected from the Debrecen Transport Company (DKV) for the period 1 January 2020-12 December 2021, and the Worldometers.info database. Statistical analyses were performed using an autoregressive and moving average (ARMA) model. We found that COVID`s active case numbers did not affect sales, but some of the government measures did have an effect. The results of this research can be used to inform future decisions to maintain and improve urban transport.

Robotics, artificial intelligence, cyber physics systems, cloud computing, IoT and blockchain technology, 5G, nanotechnology, 3D printing are all defining elements of Industry 4.0. The integrated use of these methods enables the perception and display of the external environment, which significantly enables improvements in each industry. In the future, we expect a fusion of physical, digital, and biological technologies, which will provide new opportunities for innovative solutions. The authors of the present study present a future study to predict innovative solutions to key global challenges.

Megjegyzések:Az előrejelzések alapján az urbanizációs folyamatoknak köszönhetően 2025-ben a Föld népességének mintegy 70-75%- a fog városokban élni. A helyi közösségi közlekedés szerepe a városiasodással, a városban élő lakosság arányának növekedésével egyre jobban felértékelődik. A fenntartható városi mobilitás kérdése a jelenkor és a közeljövő egyik legnagyobb kihívása elé állítja a városi közlekedés ellátásában érintett szakembereket, a városvezetőit és a lakosságot. Jelen kutatás témája néhány kiemelt európai nagyváros működési és finanszírozási rendszerének bemutatása, az Európában ismert és alkalmazott közlekedési modellek, valamint a közlekedésszervezők működésben és finanszírozásban azonosítható jó gyakorlatok összehasonlítása.As a result of urbanization tendencies, in 2025 about 70-75% of the world`s population will live in cities based on the forecasts. This means, that cities will become more and more crowded, which will enhance the importance of local public transportation. The issue of sustainable city mobility is one of the most important challenges for the professionals working in public transport as well as the leaders of cities and the population. The subject of the present research is to present the operation and financing system of some European bigger cities and the comparison of the transport models well-known and applied in Europe as well as the good practices identifiable in the operation of transport organizers and financing.

Megjegyzések:As a result of urbanization tendencies, in 2025 about 70-75% of the world`s population will live in cities based on the forecasts. This means, that cities will become more and more crowded, which will enhance the importance of local public transportation. Today in Hungary local governments are responsible for the operation of the local public transportation. Regarding the management of the operation and financing there are many well-known methods. The role of clients, service providers and the possible involvement and adaptation of different operators can result in various solutions. In Hungary, for the financing of the public transportation significant operating aid is needed. With solutions to the demonstrated problems and with the exploitation of the possibilities within the integrated transportation systems, Hungarian public transportation can continue to play an important role in the transportation of cities and therefore in the initiation of viable big cities.

Megjegyzések:For people living in big cities, getting to their destinations every day is a significant challenge. The increasing use of private transport leads to congestion in cities, contributing to air pollution, increased journey times, and citizens' dissatisfaction. At the end of 2020, the European Commission presented its green, innovative, and affordable mobility plan, the "Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy." The strategy's main aims are to reduce transport emissions by 90% by 2050 and improve digitalization based on innovative technologies and methods. To motivate citizens to use public transportation, meeting the passengers' requirements is crucial. At the beginning of 2022, research was carried out in Debrecen on the expectations for public transport. In this paper, the authors present the main results of the survey, focusing on the digitalization part of the survey. Based on the results, 69% of the citizens prefer digital solutions to their everyday lives. The introduction and development of digital solutions such as real-time passenger information would shift more than half of respondents from individual transport to public transport. A proposal was made to introduce complex applications which, in addition to journey planning, also provide additional convenient functions, such as payment and live news. The results can be used to improve the Smart City Program and the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP).
